I am really enjoying the Grandpa energy Tom is bringing with this game. Just a "I don't know what's going on, but I'm having fun with my grandkids" sort of feel.

Hey tom not sure when you played this but there's a recent new version with a bunch of new content likes 9 new characters, new items, and 2 new stages, hope you play it later! Also, new update has controller support and double stick controls! If you still want to use keyboard hope you learn how to strafe, which allows you to lock your aim in a direction.

13:57 - To answer this: yes and no. Due to fan work creations guidelines (this is the usually the norm for any thing originating in Japan, with some variations here and there) fan works can’t be monetized. It’s to keep both parties from being accused of taking advantage of fans and to lower the amount of ‘off-brand’ works (which only does so much.) The second part of the reason is because the creator doesn’t want this to become a job and stay as a hobby. They don’t want to deal with people complaining why x or y isn’t in/to stick to a schedule of release or be rushed into making it faster. They refuse donations and don’t want to be paid, as they view the Vtubers’ hard work being content creators, as payment enough. Kay Yu already has jobs (they are the animator for River City Girls and it’s sequel, key animator for a variety of anime, like Castlevania, and an upcoming anime they worked on is airing in the future.) As for the Asa-Coco weapon, basically people were asking about the logistics of how Coco (retired Vtuber) slept with her dragon tail being in the way and just said it’s detachable and then it eventually evolved into a fake drug which she made fake ads for. The fake drug is basically symbolic for being ‘addicted’ to watching the content creator’s antics. Also, unsure if you know, but the new update released recently and it has controller support and a launcher you can install for all the future updates.

This is like a weird crossover event to me, Tom and Hololive. Didn't know I wanted it, but glad I have it.

You see Tom, the Plug-in Type Asacoco actually has deep, complicated lore. Asacoco is a very addictive drug that gives the user great happiness but with harsh withdrawal symptoms. There are many methods of taking this substance, such as regular pills or through gas inhalation. But, obviously, the most popular method is through the rectum via the Plug-in Type Asacoco. I hope this made more questions than answers.

Tom just think of the enemies you face as vodgoblins if the game was based on yogscast. The enemies are fans of certain vtubers that you are fighting or in this case "saving" since the premise of the game is they are brainwashed

There's something so incredibly comedic about the fact that they replaced an actual bible from Vampire Surivivors with a BL book, that's just amazing.

I'm am 100% here for Tom's Personal Lore for this game, as it is even more amusing for those of us who know what it is all about. His guess that it's somewhat like the nonsense that arose from a Tom & Ben stream isn't too wrong for a _lot_ of the things. The red paint rats are Hakos Baelz's Brats, and I *very* much hope that Tom unlocks her from Council soon - _because Dice as a weapon, and her special is literally just _*_"more Dice is more good."_* Since Tom's still playing the early version, I figured I'd give a Post-Update Tip, because the game got _phenomenal_ after the new update and has a staggering amount of new content. There are some characters that you get items for getting past 10 mins on, like Kiara's Chicken Feather which was added after the new update which will help a lot when getting started as it grants extra lives, as well as Såna from Council having a Limiter that boost XP collection range. Even if you don't actually care about any of the VTuber stuff, there are some things I have to mention about the animations in the game as well, especially since I know Tom actually went to school for animation. The starting HoloEn characters' special attacks are nods to Mazumaro's fan animation of *HoloMyth Vs. Ina* which is an utterly _gorgeous_ piece of animation work with some Lovecraftian vibes. They've been releasing bits of as they've been completed on Twitter that the rest of the community has added audio to. The KZfaq channel DaphDafDave has some audio edits of the released sequences stitched together, and they're officially working with Mazu on the final version. It'll likely be officially completed soon as Mazu just announced they got someone to compose the soundtrack for it the other day, which likely means the animation itself is very close to final. There's also some more stuff that's a little more directly by/about the VTubers. The official music video for the song「Q」by Calliope Mori & Gawr Gura inspired one of the battles here, and the animator from that worked on this game. There's also DuDuL who does a lot of fan animations, especially for Gura, who's one of the other animators working on this game. That big fan community for everyone all crossing over and helping each other out is really why this game is as good as it is. It's all just a ton of passion brought together from people with very specific skill sets for what they're doing, and doing it for people whose content they enjoy. Most of the VTubers from HoloLive have been played the new update in the last few days and it's always fun seeing them play their own characters. It's likely this game will keep getting a TON of content for a long while yet, because - there are a _LOT_ more members of HoloLive to add as characters, as well as themes and stages that it's clear the creators want to do.

Plug type + Fan beam is my favourite collab, but axe + lava is really good. It's interesting you said "Sounds like a Tom and Ben stream" because, yeah basically. This game is like TTT for the yogscast, with red matter bombs, donconnons etc. a lot of the weapons are just jokes that stuck in the community. Glad you're enjoying it Tom!

I see you found the super tiny deadzone on Gura's trident! In an early build, Calli's scythe was just about 10 pixels wide and swung about the same distance from her. More deadzone than deathzone if you know what I mean! The game's still in development, and Kay Yu is making balance changes all the time.

Definitely check out the update for this, Tom! Almost double the characters, 2 new stages, new items and some small rebalancing aswell! I think Fauna or Sana's playstyle from the Council + Hope banner would be fitting for you, with the standing still damage tests you had in Vampire Survivors and all. :)' Edit: My favorite combo is the Psycho Axe + Lava Bucket!

Enemies are the fanatic simping fans of each of the characters in the game/hololive. Also, if you want to know about the Plug Type Asacoco, it is the item related to Kiryu Coco, a dragon character who was asked if here tale was removable. She said its actually a butt plug and was removable. Then it became a trend of it being punishment to receive the plug type asacoco (for fans and other members). She later marketed a plush version of it as a body pillow.

You actually got my two favorite combos just by chance. The axe and book are incredible and lava and spider cooking is pretty good too. You kind of did my favorite build, using that character too. The close range damage increase works well with all of those.

The Enemies you face are the V-tubers fans. The Characters you played, Gura and Calliope, Their fans are the shrimps and the dead beats (skeletons). When the skeletons get bats and the shrimps get axes that is a reference to Calliope and Gura's collaborative music video "Q."

She is a rat and has the seat of Chaos on the Hololive English Council. The paint story I do find rather compelling, though 6:33 Dude, right on the money, Calliope's songs are especially edgy and her character is in fact Death's Assistant 14:02 That's actually pretty close to the Corporation's name. (Cover Corporation) 19:56 This is a "Sanalite" (Sana-Satelite) The name for fans of Tsukumo Sana, and design is that of the representative mascot of the fans 20:33 Oh there is very rich lore. Basically, There was a Vtuber named Kiryu Coco who ran a morning show called "asacoco" (Literally "Morning Coco" in English) where Coco would report on things going on in the community and within Hololive. At one point, Coco made an ad for an injection-type version modeled after her own dragon tail so people could get their daily dose. She even tested it on other Hololive members! unfortunately, people started to overdose on the injection, and thus the butt-plug was invented as way to inject the drug without overdosing, due to the limited amount you could absorb through your rectum. The plug-in type was somehow subsequently made into official merchandise by the parent company Cover Corp. Initially with a rubber tip which could indeed be "plugged" in, (un)Fortunately removed it Coco told management that it didn't actually need to be a plug-in type, and was changed to have a fabric tip before shipping. She was a lot like Tom and Ben back then, if you have a spare afternoon to watch some old clips, the sense of humour is really up your alley. If you hold Z you can lock your aim in that direction, like the Scythe or Trident, it's indicated by the arrow next to your character. Also you can use coins to unlock characters in Gacha style which is dope, or you can use coins to upgrade your weapons past their Max, such as you did with the Scythe. However that does cost Gacha opportunities so good luck!

Ayo? Another Holocure video from Tom? That's what I've been waiting for! Please update to version 0.4 there's a TON of new stuff that's been added. It's funny to see you blindly guessing what's all of the stuff means, there's so much lore behind every little thing, it is seriously one of, if not the best fan game out there.

Based on the upgrades Tom has I'd wager he played a bit offscreen or some didn't make it to youtube cus they weren't up to snuff or whatever. A bit sad it's not on the new update because 🤩holy crap was it a high quality update, that said glad to see Tom playing it again because I legit do think this is one of the best Vampire Survivor like games. I know you've probably seen quite a bit but Tom this game is kind of like if there was a Yogscast fan game and then there were some items like Berry Milk, Sharky and Palp, Wheel Boy, or Riddle Bun. Most of these things are basically references to the vtubers[streamers] in the game, most of the character weapons/upgrades are references to their lore but the items are mostly references to stuff that went viral or part of the persons memes.

As far as I'm aware, the butt plug is a joke, that originated from chat asking the dragon vtuber Coco, where here tail connected to her body, and she answered that it was "plugged in". Later she wanted to make it a pillow, but when she got the prototype, they had actually made the "plug" out of a rubber material, and she had to explain, that this is an actual sex toy, not a pillow, and have it remade.

I would have never guessed I would see this here.

A couple of the members of hololive were on Simon's important videos one year (Roboco fell out of frame and went "AAAAGH" and Ame (the character you were playing last video) saw the cat get hit by a train in GTA)

Before the recent Update the combo's you got in this video were pretty top tier. After the update they both had their damage lowered and the Book + Axe combo had it's knock back reduced heavily. As for personal favorite's before the update: Bomb + Cutting Board, and Beam + Glowstick. After the update: Potato + Idol Song(both require unlocking), and Book + Water(Water require's unlocking).

On the one hand, seeing my two main streaming groups intersect in this way feels weird. On the other hand... This is so great. Love seeing Tom stumble through the references while still having fun

Combining Lava Bucket with Psycho Axe makes for a very strong combo. I'll let you try it so you can see for yourself what the result is.

A tip - in the keybinds there's a control for strafing, which lets you lock your attack direction while you move. So like if you're kiting enemies, you can constantly attack in one direction and move in another.

Thanks to somebody mentioning "hololive" in the comments, I now know that this is a tie in with a Vtuber group. But I don't really care, because it's a cute game and I'm enjoying watching Tom play it with no context. However, I kind of want someone to make a Vtuber avatar for Tom now. Tom-chan.

Despite watching a fair few of the people this game is based off (and them playing it), I hadn't really considered playing it much until I spotted Tom playing it too. Definitely looking forward to more of you playing this and making up your own lore lol

Huzzah! Love to see Tom once again delving into the madness of Holocure! No idea how far back these are recorded Tomska, but I highly recommend getting the new updated version that dropped on Sep 9th, as it adds a LOT of content. Double the characters and at least 2 new stages :D As for favorite weapon combinations: I personally rate the Idol Song + Glowstick combo for damage, the Plug type Asacoco (Butt Plug) + Microphone for one of the funniest combinations and the Cutting Board + Holo Bomb is just madness on screen! As for the lore it would be just as crazy to try and explain it as it would to try and understand it. Note: Before I forget, here's a little tip! The upgrade choice with little stars next to their icon in the level up screen are all unique to the current character in use! They often influence how a character can be played and what kind of build works best for that character! So grab them when you see them! Much love for you Tom! Keep being awesome!

Re: the plug-type Asacoco…. Coco was a dragon Vtuber with Hololive. She graduated (retired) some time back. She used to joke that her tail was removable and that it was held in place by the plug.

All you need to know about what enemies reference is: they are a representation of these girls' fanbases. You're "curing" the fans. The rich lore behind the butt plug: A certain dragon vtuber sells her products which definitely aren't drugs, and you can ingest them in various ways. That one happens to be imbued rectally. So it's like a suppository.

Tom not knowing how deep this rabbit hole goes just makes it all the better. God bless you, Tom.

I've gotten into this game since Tom's last video, it's quite good! Every character has a unique weapon and skills. My first win was with the fire character with the sword and it was a thrilling 20 minutes! My only complaint so far is that the weapon selection feels a little limited and unbalanced.

Since your first video the game has doubled in content! 9 more characters, 2 more stages! Saw that you've been in the upgrades shop already. Oh, and the starred upgrades at level up are the character's unique skills, they can only be bought in the lvl up screen and can't be upgraded by anvils. Anvils are arguably best used on collab combo weapons. And many new items are unlocked by hitting 10 mins or beating Stage mode with certain characters. Overall, great to see someone trying this out and loving it!

The mice are a reference to Baelz Chaos, a mouse vtuber with red hair who I think is australian?? Anyway yeah she's a second gen member of HoloLive, the vtuber group this game is based on

Man. This has really been a collision of worlds for me. My two favourite KZfaq groups mixed together. I’ve been watching these guys since debut and some on the JP branch since early 2019 and I got into the Yogscast just before Whale Lords. Seeing my favourite things at the same time just puts a smile on my face. Now, if you’re into weapons that you don’t have to aim, I would recommend Nanashi Mumei that you’ll have to unlock via the gacha thingy. Being the Guardian of Civilisation, she’s a personification of an owl as they’re known for their wisdom. She just throws a bunch of feathers at nearby enemies and has bonuses related to how many enemies she kills. She also has one of the best powers in the game. Ceres Fauna is also a good one. She’s the keeper of nature and is a personification of Kirin, a chimerical being of Chinese mythology. At first, she throws leaves in the direction she is looking but, once upgraded, the leaves will home in and bounce off enemies. Her other abilities are very much focused on healing but she can also sprout roots from the ground that will attack random enemies on the screen. Ouro Kronii has a mixed weapon, firing both in front of her and a secondary weapon that will attack in the direction of a random enemy. Known for her hourglass figure, she is the Warden of Time. She can produce a time bubble that will freeze enemies within it and gets bonus damage for remaining at full health. If you’re looking for a character that can move quick, she’s a good pick as she gets buffs to her movement speed. Then you have Tsukumo Sana, the Speaker of Space. Another character that doesn’t focus on aiming, she uses a planet which orbits around her as a weapon, not that dissimilar to the BL Books, dealing damage to close enemies. One of her abilities will apply a random bonus periodically. I know how much you like dice so you may also enjoy Hakos Baelz. Being the Embodiment of Chaos, she is a personification of a rat, and will throw a die or dice, dealing damage based on the number/s that the dice land. When upgraded, the dice have a wide arc but relatively low reach. Also, her power has an incredible amount of DPS but doesn’t last very long. Takanashi Kiara was the first character that I beat this stage with. The phoenix has, in my opinion, the coolest power. One of her abilities will give her bonuses for keeping on the move which reset when she remains stationary which pairs really well with one of her other abilities where she leaves a trail of fire wherever she goes. Ninomae Ina’nis is a character you may be more interested in for her lore as she is a priestess of the ancient ones who wields the Necronomicon, using its power to summon tentacles to do her bidding. Her weapon has very long reach but a very small arc so it’s one that you really need to aim to use effectively. Then you have IRyS, the nephilim who descended to Earth to deliver hope during dark times. Her projectile weapon moves slow but has greater spread than Amelia’s. Being half angel and half demon, one of her abilities will heal her and the other will apply a damage buff every time she heals. You’ve already played the other three characters but I’ll give a very short summary of each of their lores. Gawr Gura is an ancient Atlantian. Despite this, her ability to swim is often brought into question and she is regularly teased for being short. Mori Calliope is the reaper rapper. Being an actual grim reaper, delivering souls to the underworld, she enjoys rapping and is pretty good at it. Although her name shares the same spelling as the Greek muse or the steam organ, it is not pronounced the same way. (Cal-eye-oh-pi instead of Cal-ee-oh-pe) Amelia Watson is a time travelling detective who is in our present timeline to investigate the mythical beings which make up her genmates. Those who debuted at the same time as her, Kiara, Ina, Gura and Calli. Also, you picked a pretty good time to start playing this game as the first big update is coming out soon. The characters in which the game is based on have early access but it will be publicly available sometime soon. With this update comes 9 new characters which make up JP gen 0, which includes Tokino Sora, Roboco-san, Sakura Miko, Hoshimachi Suisei and AZKi, and Hololive Gamers which is made up of Inugami Korone, Nekomata Okayu, Ookami Mio and Shirakami Fubuki. Also there’ll be new maps, enemies, weapons and stuff. Some cool things to look forward to. (Also, I should mention that Ookami is pronounced Okami. However, it would be funny to hear you pronounce it as oo, like in food, when the update comes out).

Always fun watching someone find this with no information on the admittedly very weird references. As a side note, there is a pretty major update for the game out if your interested. It adds new stages, items, and characters; and rebalances most of the old characters and items.

But yeah, pretty fun to watch Tom enjoying this game and coming up with ideas on why the hell these things pop up! GGWP! Rebind your strafe key to something comfortable if you make another one of these. Already saw another comment or two about it but it'd help a lot with characters who have narrow attack ranges on their main weapon. Plug + Fan Beam collab is probably the coolest weapon that can also be aimed while strafing like the mains, so that's gonna be my recc if you get the chance.

I regret to inform you tom that i have knowledge of a colab, however i cannot remember how to make it, i think its the fan beam + glow stick or its the fan beam + dragon horns, good luck i'd love to see you play more of this as the colabs are amazing (and you pluse hololive is something i didn't know I needed in my life)

Since you asked Tom, the final boss of the game is an alternate verison of the first character you played called Smol Ame. Shes sort of exploded in popularity and even has one of those large stuffed mascot costumes that they wear at conventions.

Hey Tom, I know you won't care if I try to explain stuff too much so let me say, Ninomae Ina'nis is a girl that found a book with forbidden knowledge of cthulu and the ancient ones of the deep, and now her laziness is the primary thing keeping them from spreading their influence and taking over everything. If you get past the early game, she's one of the most survivable players in this game. The purple octopus enemies are her fans because she wanted them to resemble pillows if she needs to nap. Also, the running skeletons are 'deadbeats' or the fans of the scythe girl you used this video (Mori Calliope), but we're dipping into the stuff that's not important. Every enemy is the fans of the v-tubers in the game gone feral/wild or something and you're meant to be stopping them from rampaging.

each character has SKILLS which are unique and specific to them. you don't need to worry about them taking up slots also, elite cooking is the strongest collab in the game before and after update

So the enemies basically correspond to each of the playable characters. Shrimps for the shark, skeleton "Deadbeats" for the edgy scythe woman and so on. With vtubers there's pretty much a character for any theme so even the rats and the clocks represent 2 of the characters that you haven't unlocked yet. Be careful Tom, it's a real rabbit hole xD

A deep, unnecessarily detailed dive on the rich lore of Plug-Type Asacoco aka "The Buttplug" This'll be long and you'll probably have more questions than answers but here goes. We have to start out with the name. Asacoco is the name of a morning news show stream that was produced by a streamer by the name of Kiryu Coco under the Hololive brand, "asa" being Japanese for morning, giving us the combined name for the show: Asacoco. These ~30 minute streams would go over a lot of topics and events in Hololive in a humorous way, but also touch on talking topics. Eventually, there were also short little commercial breaks for gag reference products mimicking old-style television product commercials.
