Guys. The way you talked about the start of the show is how we got s7/8 of GoT. You don’t need to see everything. All of the Daemon stuff is character building. The stuff you “claim” to like. How are you guys not picking up on this?

Gotta feel for Aegon in this episode. When his mother kept insulting and antagonizing him, instead of throwing a tantrum, he actually asked her for advice about what to do, and all she could muster was another insult, instead of actually helping him here.

Game of Thrones isnt about crazy fight scenes. The first few seasons barely have any and they're the best ones.

Yeah, I don't understand this criticism of Larys. It's like his sexual proclivity we saw in exactly one scene has blinded you guys to the rest of his character. Joe called him a simp, despite the fact that he has actively gone behind Alicent's back several times to ingratiate himself with other power players. And, he's not clever? Are you kidding me? Look how easily he spun the Harrenhal thing to get Aegon's wrath off his back this episode. And just last episode he played on the king's insecurities to convince him not to fly to battle. He maneuvered to place his own people as Alicent's servants. He bought credit with the king by catching one of the men who killed his son. He planted the seed that removed Otto Hightower from being Hand. He can also read Alicent like a book. Knows her secret with Cole. And by the look he gave Aemond, he recognizes he's a power player who he might want to get in good with. All this is just THIS season! What part of that writes him off to you guys as not being "on the level"? Come on....

I don't think we're wasting time with Daemon. There's a mix of political development and personal development. He's trying to unite an army for Rhaenyra and this is a very hard task given their tarnished image, which is his fault since he ordered the murder of the kid, cause he only thought of his impulse for revenge. This is indicative of his pattern of behavior: He does as he wants and thinks little of consequence, and then leaves the others to deal with the problems. This is why the guilt of his brash and selfish actions is catching up to him. And it makes sense that this dark past is catching up in the "haunted" castle that is Harenhall. It's all coming down on him at once and he's realizing the guilt he feels for these mistakes.

This is so dumb listening to Alex and Other Joe want random battles with people we will know nothing about - way to want to slow down the story. WTF. The Daemon story is about him facing who he is and his choices, and having to reflect on the similarities between him and Aemond, with this leading to the choices he will make in future that will separate him from Aemond. Fuckin hell guys.

I say again, Dragonstone is right next to King's Landing and therefore Rook's Rest is too. It's not time travelling teleportation.

These CGI dragons are really making me emotional.

Important Note: Just because you see a scene of Aegon flying off on his dragon, it does NOT mean its happening at the same moment as the other scenes. Do not assume that everything on screen is happening at the exact same time. They have too many plots to get through, they can't make them all sync up to the hour.

There has not been a single pointless scene in this show so far. Every single scene this season has contributed to Aegon and Aemonds dissolving relationship. Aemonds development into a narcissist or Aegons developing self doubt. Coles anxiety over his increasing responsibilities and his past sins. Alicents revelation she was wrong and her loss of faith in her family and her own values. All of this has been developing through careful dialogue scenes and yes it’s developing slowly but that’s the point. This slow development allows the character’s arcs to be truely fleshed out and rich which allows for a fight scene to be so climactic as this one was. I understand them criticising the show if they feel it’s too slow for them but you can’t rave about this episode and still moan about previous ones. If anything there whole tune should change and they should admit that those episodes where worth the pay off because there would be no “10/10” episode without them. Sadly I don’t even know if it’s that deep for them, I fear they might have enjoyed that dragon fight regardless of any context just because it’s cool action and that’s all they really care about.

Draw audience back? Who left? Every episode has been intriguing and slowly building towards episode 4. Episode 4 has meaning and an impact because of everything that preceded it.

It isn’t all about the explosions and violence lol can’t have this without the earlier stuff. Good lord lol

The season is halfway through and Daemon is obviously in the midst of a character arc. Why are they always bemoaning dialogue and character development going nowhere when we haven’t even seen where it’s gone yet. Media literacy is at an all time low man

The battle was pretty close to kingslanding and dragonstone so it wouldn’t take long to get there on a dragon… it’s a couple hundred miles. In a car it would take like 4 hours. So on a flying dragon going in a straight line it would be like a quick trip

Its not all about the battles, geez. There were some really strong scenes with superb dialogue, character building and acting in this episode. It makes it when its time for the action that much better. Good lord, did yall watch the first few seasons of GoT? Its never been the battles and action and Dragons that make this series great. Listening to yall, I would guess you loved the last two seasons of GoT.

I don't mind that some infantry battles were off camera, for they don't mind much, and they are saving the budget for the important ones.

Bruh these guys only like the battle scenes. The slow scenes are what makes those scenes worth it. And the witch stuff is great.

If not seeing a battle is a negative, the first couple seasons of game of thronses skipped probably more than a dozen battles.

Honestly anytime some one reviewing this show mentions “how it happened in the book” I die a little on the inside. Fire & Blood isn’t a fucking narrative story it is set up as a text book account with 3 perspectives on some events. Even the book doesn’t know how it actually happened

The reason you care when the fighting begins is because the characters are so good, if the show was all dragon battles it would be as pointless as Godzilla vs Kong…just Aegon alone is a better character than literally every single person in all of those Monsterverse movies combined and multiplied by ten. This is what ASOIAF does so well, the characters and everything that takes place before and after the big battles.

I feel like people need to cut the show a bit of slack on the “lack of action.” These large battles are extremely expensive to produce and the show runners need to strategically place them.

I was nervous the whole dragon battle. All the feels were felt.

Amond was sheathing his sword as he walked towards the king, before Cole called out to him which I guess implies: he was planning to kill the king and saw he was dead, or near enough (I watched the scene again to check)

I agree with Alex that the Daemon stuff doesn't feel impactful. YET. That's the thing with set-up, it rarely feels "impactful" because it's setting up the scenes so they DO feel impactful later down the line.

The Blacks didnt commit more than one dragon because they had already assumed Vhagar would never leave Kings Landing because shes the only Defense to a dragon attack. So they wanted to send one Dragon to burn troops then make it back across the bay before Vhagar could make it to them but they didn’t Vhagar was already there according to plan

Joe constant referencing of the book is starting to wear on me since his memory of it has already been proven to be not the best. Like his criticism of the Alys Rivers stuff from this episode and the last is hard to watch since he doesn’t seem to have a clue what’s going on there but in the same breath he’ll still reference the book.

I found the end of the dragon battle stupid. I knew that Rhaenys was going to die, but having Vhagar jump-scare ambush, AGAIN, was dumb...also, how the F did he manage to get up in the air, fly through the whole battlefield, go past the keep, pull of a 180° turn, get low and lie in wait for Rhaenys+Meleis to pass right at that moment I just cannot understand XD

She didn't run because if she fled Rhaenyra and her would be accused of cowardice

Aegon literally drinking and driving his dragon, he deserved this but Sunfyre did not and The fact that Rhaenys got taken out by her daughter's dragon and didn’t think her death would make me emotional like that damn. Just the bond portrayed between her and her dragon was emotional asf.

absolutely loved the battle. Definitely the coolest dragon battle ive ever seen on screen. I thought they telegraphed Renys' death too much beforehand and that she dies the same way that the kid at the end of last season dies (dragon sneak attack) but it was still extremely satisfying

My only issue is that Vhagar is so big and massive how could she not be seen flying behind that somewhat small compared to her castle.

No Daemon said you never finish your job previously to her that’s why she returned to make sure all dragons are dead.

I cannot remember the last time I was so entranced by a battle scene, my eyes were glued to the screen the entire time. The actual on the ground setpiece was so well set up, the combat between dragons was as brutal as it was visceral and the devastation of what a battle between dragons looks like was properly expressed with the charred survivors, the ash and the breathless coughing from Criston. It knew exactly how to keep you enthralled by what you were seeing by the scale and brutality of what they were able to accomplish. It’s probably the best battle scene in this universe since Watchers on the Wall, and arguably even gives Blackwater a run for its money. You really have to nitpick to find problems with it I think, it is as flawlessly executed a battle scene as you can find.

it was sad to see Rhaenys go. That woman had balls Meleys had trouble lifting. I wonder why she went back instead of fleeing. There is no way she could take Vhagar with Meleys, it was suicide. The only way they take it down is double or triple team on it. And Meleys was their biggest dragon. She should have retreated to the island and come back with Rhaenyra and Daemon if possible. Only other way to take Vhagar out is to take Aemond out. I suspect they will use his only vulnerability, which is the bitch he visits in the whore house. The worm woman could help with that.

Nobody talked about the dragons! Meleys and Vhagar used to be the best of friends, flying around every day with Vicerys’ parents. And now they’re trying to kill each other. They also might be mother/daughter as well

I absolutely loved this episode! It had political strategy, the stakes felt big and of course the insane dragon battle was amazing.

This battle was as good as anything GoT did. The tension was just strangling. The music was exhilarating. The character motivations were all there. The animations where brutal and felt so heavy. I think Rhaenys is just tired of taking shit that she didn't end the war while she could, so she is taking that chance now. And I mean if you're Aemond/Vhagar, you're really gonna watch Rhaenys/Meleys fly off towards dragonstone and wait for the reinforcements? Hell no. They'll be long gone by the time Syrax and Vermax show up. Meleys arguably got the best of Vhagar in that first scuffle. You're thinking, man I just fuckin OHKO-'d the king, and his little douchebag brother and their biggest dragon may just need one final blow? If you have the heart of a warrior, you're going back in. You're not letting them get away. Even if you don't think your chances aren't that great, you take this opportunity to end the war right there.

Hopefully the slow attention span people will stop complaining bout there being no big battles/dragon battles(Looking at you Joes) wouldn’t get this tremendous episode without proper character building and setup. R.I.P. to the Queen that should’ve been 💯
