I feel like someone in the Doctor Who writers room saw the Dinosaur Rex comic at a young age and capitalized on making the idea much better with the creation of Madame Vastra and her crew :)

Admittedly, the villains usually had the best visual designs with most toys, so I'm not surprised the Carnivors are cooler.

Between Prequel Month, Dan Dare and Event Comics Month 3, I was honestly starting to forget that there was such a thing as single video Atop the Fourth Wall episodes. Also did a double take because I thought this was a comic tie-in to the anime channel Animax.

You might want the helmets to be themed after the same animal as the vehicle so you do not grab the wrong helmet. The lion helmet might not work with the rhino or horse.

@7:00 As someone who has been studying Astronomy since he was 5, a planet that is tidally locked wouldn't be like what's presented in the comic. Instead one side would be a desert and the other frozen.

Not to be an actually they refer to Africa as the Dark Continent because it wasn't explored or not it was known about it.

3:47 Could you imagine an alternate universe where this toyline had a cross promotion with Halo where they made the M12 Force Application Vehicle into an actual pig? (and a RvB version with Puma and Chupacabra variants) Actually Hasbro should do this with their Beast Wars trademark somehow, including a version of Beast Wars Scorponok who turns into a M808 Main Battle Tank and a version of Big Convoy who turns into a M313 Heavy Recovery Vehicle.

Animax looks to bring about goofy fun for as long as it can like Brute Force before. Maybe if there are enough comics like the two you'll be able to keep this going.

This toy line and its setting had some potential. Would be interesting to see what could have been done. Like with Exo-Force. That one should have gotten a tv show. In the case of Animax, have there be more bridges (and of course InCARnated boats), change the human costumes, do a little non-specific world home repair, throw in something about ancient energy shields that lessen the sun's fury to survivable levels for most of the light side. This could work with some changes if you're willing to look past the abominations against god and science they drive.

It's stuff like this that I imagine the team working on it shrugging and then saying "We're gonna do whatever we want."

the way they describe the earth is what we who follow astronomy and astrophysics refer to as being “Tidally Locked”. But the thing is, Tidal Lock and “Stopped rotating” are not the same thing. Sure it looks that way, but it’s not how it works. If the earth somehow actually stopped rotating (and we didn’t all die in the process cause loosing about 1000MPH In momentum is going to cause a lot of problems), then we would still have day and night, it would just take roughly an entire year from one sunrise to the next, and it rise in the west and set in the East. It would have the appearance of rotating because the earth is still moving in orbit around the sun.

The idea of combining animals and cars is both a stoopid and bizarre idea. IT’S PERFECT. No joke, if there weren’t any corporate shenanigans in the 80’s, it would’ve been a classic, like transformers or tmnt. I hope there are people who want to revive the idea.

The concept of a planet with a rotation so slow to cause the same side to always be exposed and the other side to always be in darkness was much more cleverly explored in belgian comic series Yoko Tsuno where an alien world is shown to have this situation: one side is sun blasted and unlivable, the other is permanently frozen and unlivable, and a thin border between the two is livable, but with magnetic shielding on both edges to prevent constant storm winds from being caused by the super hot and the super cold air masses meeting.

Dr Linksano brought a foam lizard to life, he's probably screaming "Why didnt I think of that!"

Is that were Bestosterone is? "Mankind is unprepared for my banana bread!" Do you know how the Animax came into being? They were animals once, taken by the dark powers, tortured and mutilated, a ruined and terrible form of life. And now... perfected Somehow, Max Action has returned. Seriously, why did they kill him off in the first placE? What purpose does this serve? Still, it's well drawn and feels suitably epic, unlike Air Raiders. This is like a Diet version of Brute Force, but eh, I'll take it over more inept and dark event comics

So for all Star Wars fans out there, Earth has basically become Ryloth.

I swear it's like the insane child of every other toy line from the 80s. I see Thundercats, He-Man, Transformers, MASK, etc.

That toy line (including the lore) looks really cool. It reminds me of a lot of other successful vehicle toy lines. Shame that it didn't pan out for one reason or another. It looked like it could make some decent money.

The fact that Dinosaur Rex was so bad it managed to derail Linkara's updates in what I think is the first time ever is probably all that needs to be known about it.

I actually thought up a rewrite of the setting while watching this. Rather than setting it on earth in the future set on a planet were magic exists, one type that work in the light and one that works in the dark. The circle of twilight can be the only area on the planet were both magic can exist together, and the bridge of doom is only place the two side can truly fight.

I used to have that second issue, but I didn't know the name of it until last year, then I forgot the name again until I saw this video. I didn't understand that the dude that died was supposed to be the leader, but that's a gutsy move for the beginning of a series.

The villain looks like if Iron Maiden's Eddie somehow ended up in The Road Warrior.

Okay, the REALLY annoying thing about Dinosaur Rex is that it SO sounds like it should be a rollicking good time. . .but apparently it is not. :( Real shame. But at least we have Animax to bring us back to the happy side of things! This whole premise is one of the goofiest things I've heard in a while, and it is amazing. XD A true worthy successor (or, uh, predecessor) to Brute Force! A shame neither lasted longer so they could do a crossover! (Come on, Linkara, put your magical comic-resurrecting powers to good use!)

Eh, I don't know. I feel like resurrecting the hero and then destroying the technology that made it possible as well as the only person who knows how it works kind of makes the death seem pointless. I think the story would be more interesting if there was a lingering possibility of that technology making a return so it could fall into the wrong hands and create more conflict.

Cool! We'll probably get to see the Ninja Style Dancer next episode!

When even Linkara is so burned out on bad comics that he changes his mind you know they ruined a good title with a bad story. I don't even remember this toyline but I did see ads for the comic. Never got a chance to read this. "Max Action" is so 80s it makes me giddy. A "training manual" on ninjitsu from Solson? Any chance of getting a Gaijin Goombah crossover? You know, someone who would know just how full of crap this book is?

This is oddly like Visionaries Knights of the Magical Light, except more focused on the sci fi rather than the mix of dystopian fiction and magic melded with tech. Also was an unpopular toy line that had a short lived TV show and a comic book series that ended before the story in it was complete I think their premise would work more in scientific astronomical terms, since it was a solar alignment that wiped out technology, rendering it useless so everyone went to more medieval times

Ever since I was a little kid watching an episode of Space Ghost, when he talks about using his Ice Ray right before using his Ice Ray for no discernable reason, it always bothers me when a comic or show does that. I don't mean things like Goku shouting Kamehameha or Sailor Moon yelling Moon Princess Halation. I mean things like in the second issue of the original X-Men series from the sixties when Jean is training in the Danger Room by levitating a huge heavy ball above herself (because safety is for squares, I guess). She loses focus and the ball starts dropping towards her. Cyclops practically gives a soliloquy on how he's going to save her (which she responds to while still in danger so there's no way this is happening at the same time) before opening his visor. Like, in the time it took him to say all that, Jean should already be a red stain on the floor (again safety being very much for squares).

I have a copy of this somewhere, bought for a long train journey. I do not remember it, or the journey. All I remember is the intensely dull meeting with someone else and their lawyer to discuss how they are allowed to use use my art because it was online, and that makes it public domain. I got paid, they got dropped as a client by their lawyer, they stopped using stolen art, life was good.
