Don’t pay attention to people saying “this character is “this” age". There are no confirmed ages (mostly) with characters.

When you were looking at character ages, Keep in mind like 95% of them aren't confirmed and are just made up by the community to give them estimated Ages.. barely any were officialy given Ages by Hoyoverse.

hu tao is chinese, i believe she's based off of chuang-tzu (or zhuangzi) a chinese philosopher who came up with the butterfly effect and taoism, nerds correct me if i'm wrong!! hu tao has butterflies in her design, and the whole "tao" thing kinda gives it away

Dehya (that girl from the desert who reminded you of a thief) is actually a mercenary. She accompanies caravans through the desert, guards important people and everything else. The cool fact is that her teaser impressed people so much that fans went to donate not to the game, but to charitable foundations. ^^

Please don't be disheartened especially to those people who call you bad things. That's the point of reactions-- to go into it blindly, without knowing anything about the game, the makers, the world, etc. It's not your fault that pronounciations vary, or that it's hard to remember names and faces, or that the first look into their demo/teaser doesn't immediately say who they are as a character, or that the world isn't clear just from the characters itself. It's the awe and curiousity that lets you imagine what you think the game is like, or what the character does, or what the world has to offer! And in the end, it's that same curiosity that will let you experience the game and slowly understand things as the story goes.
