Hello from Oregon, USA --- Thanks so much for this wonderful filmmaking, and your heartfelt, honest and at times joyful storytelling. For three years in the mid-70s, i lived in a rural area NW of Pokhara on the Mardi river below Machapuchare and Mardi Himal. In Sept. of 1977, just months after Manang first opened to outside visitors, I had the opportunity and privilege to make a 26 day walk around the Annapurna circuit, crossing the Thorong La Pass from the West. At the end of the second day in Manang district, i stopped for the night at a Gurung household up on the hillside. After the evening meal and before sleep, the family talked around the fire, and someone mentioned a group of Swiss travelers who had passed by the month before. Grandma waved a discarded diamond-cut applesauce jar to the fire, creating darting shapes of light on the walls, unaware, as I suppose everyone was, of how this area would change in the coming years. Watching you video gave a me a current look and new perspective to a dear memory of one of my favorite life experiences. Mark Wiles

I’ve seen a lot of travel filmmakers but I would haven’t seen anyone making something so professional. I mean colours grading was to the point not much not less, music to the point and narrative was engaging as well. Really looking forward to more such adventures from you. Moreover I also make travel and photography related films. Therefore I would love to hear your review from someone like on my films if possible. If not still it’s fine. In end have a great day. 😄

Great video - thanks so much for making it. It brought back great memories for me. I did it with my wife in 1991 in our late 20's. Now we're in our 50's so glad we did it when we could! Back then, there were almost no tea-houses along the way (we did the Annapurna Circuit and Annapurna Sanctuary and it took 28 days with 12 porters and a guide!!!!

In November 1987 we did the trek around the Annapurna mountains. Thorung La pass was covered in snow and ice. From Dumre till Thorung La base camp everything was very basic, simple food and there were many more trees in the mountains compared to what I've just seen. Descending Thorung La pass was quite a challenge, wading through hip high snow. From Mukthinat onwards it was a piece of cake to walk back. Due to the snow and ice we started climbing Thorung La pass at 02.00 am, arriving in Mukthinat around 16.00 hrs.

Hey Oliver. I will say, we are average fit. We have done smililar hikes before but this was the longest and the hghest we have done so far. And with the altitude sickness, yes we had one of those days where we would feel sick(say 5/10) but we were going up slow and we also had a rest day in Manang village. And we were also drinking ginger tea which helps with the altitude.
