Another creepy Kiev elevator

Yes, I'm sure there are many of these in Kiev! One day we walked for 8 miles (I had my GPS tracker on me!) but we could only get into a handful of places. Other places I entered had been modernised.
However, the door to this building was wide open! The old fashioned glass roof structure at the top was really nice.
This is all missing footage that I mistakenly moved into a different folder, so there is some extra footage of the other scary lift we found.

If you press "10" three times, the elevator goes 30 feet below basement level where you are surrounded by nothing but concrete. A voice comes on the speaker saying "Silly goose! This building does not have 10 floors!". Then all power goes out and the shaft starts to fill with water.

It's fine, I like scary lifts as well. Recently I found a vintage 1970s Hammond and Champness lift that was single-speed. It feels really scary when it stops with a thunk, and you get some lovely knocks on the car along the journey. I will have a video of that soon, assuming I can get the footage off of my camcorder.

This is another upgraded elevator. Previously, they wanted to modernize, but there was no money to replace the engine, the control station, so they replaced the walls of the cabin and the doors of the cabin and mine. This elevator is modernized somewhere in the years 2005-2008. Now they mostly change all equipment.

@VERNONBLVJSCSONAVUNE On the 7 train and 6 train it can. If it uses a standard E27 socket for light bulbs, then unscrew the old one and screw in a 17W(~1500 Lumen) LED bulb. If it uses a neon tube(G13 Socket), then u need replace first the safety starter(electromagnetic or electric equivalent for LED), after that just put in the LED tube. Thats all. It can be done in five minutes.

That second lift doesn’t respond too well to it’s call button. It seems like you have to press multiple times for it to work.
@LBSiUK
@LBSiUK 6 жыл бұрын
The button is probably had heavy use; I think they have worn down with time.
@mrmattandmrchay
@mrmattandmrchay 6 жыл бұрын
I think this is not due to the button, but the circuit logic. This lift can only respond to one call at a time. While it's busy, all the other call buttons are disconnected. After the lift arrives at a floor, there is a short "in use" period where the call buttons do not work. When the doors shut, and after this short delay, all call buttons are active again. This confirms that this is the old relay controller in use here!
