About This Video:
In this video, Rob talks about how many designs / styles / t-shirts you should launch with when starting a clothing brand. Deciding how many designs to launch a clothing line with is trickier than it may appear! Too many designs can lead to an overwhelming amount of overhead and decision making fatigue from your website visitors. It's a different decision to make for print on demand clothing brand owners versus clothing brands that are holding onto their inventory. I attempt to break down the nuances here. This info applies to clothing brands, clothing lines, apparel brands, apparel lines, fashion lines, fashion brands, t shirt brands, t shirt lines, streetwear brands, streetwear lines, print on demand (POD), dropshipping and beyond!!

Good insight. I am more so curious about what color t shirts I should start with. As of now I have 2 designs but I plan on releasing my brand with one design then later introducing the other. I understand that this is different for every brand, however I would like to learn more about the process of choosing your colors when releasing your brand. Thanks a lot.

Choose colors you like to wear. It’s your brand. Base colors are black and white.

It's depend which procedure are you going through. Mostly I suggest to go with sublimation print because you can have so much choices of color or design in it....

I used design crowd after watching one of your videos. I loved it. I liked getting so many different designs to pick from. I got some really good ones and was able to pick one I really really like. And the customer service was awesome. I'll definitely be using them again. Thanks!

I don't like print on demand. It takes the fun out of making your own clothing. Plus it's risky. Especially if you need to protect your brands image and reputation. I doubt I'll ever use print on demand but it's working for you so way to go. I'm not here to pick fault. I just have a preference on how I want my business to be and how I want it to work. 😊

Hi another great vid I just had 1 question. When you said 4 - 5 designs is that per item. So if I sold t -shirts and hoodies does that mean that I would have 8 - 10 designs in total. Or do you mean 4 - 5 in total at the begining

I know this isn't aimed at me but I'd say keep it to 4-5 designs in total. Maybe use some designs across both tee's and hoodies, then in a few weeks/months you could launch your next set of designs, based on what you've learnt from the previous lot. Making sure you take what you've learnt into the next collection.

Rob, I contacted a graphic designer who wanted $500 upfront even before he did any work. I replied by saying that's not good because I might not like what you do and you're off with $500 of my money when I don't have much money. So how much is design crowd and how can it help me? I wanted to take time to learn how to design on my own but I'm also learning bookkeeping and accounting and I'm really feeling the pressure of it all catching up with me. What accounting software do you use and how much is it? Also, what if I use design crowd and I don't like the designs. How many designs will I get for $500?

It Depends which Procedure are you Going through. If The Procedure is going through screen printing you should have Order in Bulk Quantity.But if you Go with Sublimation print You can Have Alot choices in color or design. EVEN you can have a single piece with different design with different color

I’d do 8 each personally. 2x small 2x medium 2x large 2x XL Remember, u gotta buy 24-32 shirts, focus on selling them. If not you’ll have a lot of leftover crap

@@MooMoo69556 Looking into a screen printer and they charge a $20 set up fee per screen. Which is per color and per location. So if I have a design with a small 1 color logo on the front of the shirt and a large 2 color back design that's $60 in set up fees for that 1 design. Now times that by 3 designs that's $180 in set up fees. Then if I get 32 shirts per design they charge $3.50 for a 1 color front logo and $5.00 for a 2 color back logo so that's $8.50 per shirt to print. Again if I do 3 designs and 32 shirts per design that's 96 shirts at $8.50 a shirt to print which is $816. Add the set up fees of $180 now you're at about $1,000 for 96 shirts. Seems like a lot of inventory and money to start off?

@@MooMoo69556 Most screen printers I have looked into have an MOQ or Minimum order quantity of about 32-36 per design. Then the more you order the cheaper it is to print per location on the shirt. So if I launched with 2 designs only I would need to get 36 per design which would be 72 shirts. Pricing would be what I mentioned in my other comment
