yup , and the plaintiffs even said they are moving - and its probably because they figured out that the whole damn town is racist .

the arrest itself looked bad considering the situation (a petite woman against a larger woman and her multiple adult sons with the plantiff having arguably worse injuries) but the insanely high bail and the fact that the cop made comments like that when it’s clear there was a language barrier is convincing that this is the case. it’s horrible that she had to deal with this injustice and there’s not much she and her husband can do. it’s even more insulting that the defendant called her a mail order bride to a damn judge and tried to say the husband said it to her when they weren’t friendly before, they seem fond of each other from just this video & he even speaks her language fluently and helps with the language barrier and lets her speak when she feels able to. there are definitely men who take advantage of women who want to move to the us but there’s no indication that was the case at all

Agreed. That was my first thought seeing the photos. The plaintiff got punched multiple times in the face. The defendant had scratch marks that looked like the plaintiff was trying to get the defendant to stop.

What is more showing are the injuries. The plaintiffs injuries are all in her face, while the defendants injuries are scratches. The scratches seem more consistent with somebody trying to get away from somebody or out of a headlock or something like that. Meanwhile the head injuries seem more consistent with an attack and punches in the head.

I am going to give the police a benefit and take what was said by the plaintiff's husband to be true. He said that when the police interrogated her, all she was able to say is that she was being hit. Well there is typically something that elevates the situation before it becomes fisticuffs. and if all she was saying was "she was hitting me" it seems like a fight where she happened to get the worst. Unfortunately, the cops when making their statement can only go by the information they have and I have NO DOUBT the defendant lied through her teeth about the incident. Just like Judge Milian had to follow the law as there was no proof who was the aggressor. While the plaintiff may have made a big deal about the shed, she had a point and should not have been assaulted over it. I mean even look at the injuries, the injuries against the defendant are defensive injuries. I mean somebody was defending themselves against them and scratched them to get them away. The plaintiff's injuries are more consistent with offensive wounds and like she was being beat up.

Right? She just wanted sympathy and attention. Simply an excuse to try and get off with a slap on the wrist.

Asians aren’t usually the target of police harassment. Especially Asian women. I don’t necessarily think the cop was racist. I think they were just xenophobic at most. I bet it would’ve splayed out the same if she were white but barely spoke English and had a pretty thick foreign accent and to avoid confusion, as I’m sure was the motivation, simply repeated a simple phrase like “they attacked me”. Which is when you get someone who can translate. Instead of arrest someone. It’s still a bias that’s wrong of course.

Of course not. In a real courtroom they’d probably reschedule the case and have an interpreter there. That wouldn’t really work for fitting these cases into 10-20 minute segments for TV 😅 The options Judge Milian had were 1) No, speak in Mandarin without an interpreter (judge, defendant and majority of the audience won’t understand), 2) No, speak in (broken) English (important details may be missed) or 3) yes, let your husband interpret for you. I think she chose the best option for the situation 😅
