My East German Map case indeed guided me to all th East German stuff..
Also there’s a part here where I call a kinjal a shashka two different things, my mind just blanked
They were kinjals 🗡
Let me know what you think, this was intended for Tiktok hence the aspect ratio, but I can film it for KZfaq next time if you’re interested!

I personally really enjoyed this style of video. If you want to do more like this or get more good feedback you should do like a collector's guide of how to know the differences between fake and authentic stuff or show us your own collection of items! Have a lovely day.

Soviet and foreign antiques etc. are a HUGE passion of mine. I could spend hours in this antique shop you visited. I really appreciate this video - thank you for making it! This is a really niche topic so I am happy you made it.

Ok ok ok I had to pause the video so I could comment - this is the best! I would watch a full hour of this. Antique stores are my favourite but I only have a few around where I live - I would watch more videos like this for sure! If you enjoyed making it. Only do what you love. The old lady setup with the doll in the casket and then straight to a bucket of ducks. Pure gold. I would cut that into a reel or a tiktok if that’s a thing. Sorry I’m old. 😂

You literally went to one of my favorite antique places! I knew instantly once you showed the old lady next to the child’s casket. So great to know someone goes through the same place and can also recognize the cringe from the cool with old eastern memorabilia ❤

It's one of my favorites too! My fathers down in AZ so I visit from time to time. I once found a beautiful plaque with Mao on it here, but did not pick it up.

Ohhh interesting! I once found a collection of Maos works at an oddities shop because a local collector died in Seattle 😮 oddity shops often pick up "political" items

I grew up around antiques and enjoy going to antique stores so this video was right up my alley. I have my own small collection of Soviet era pins and love to see others collect. I'd enjoy seeing you do more of this style of video!

The part of where you said about collectors’ disappointment of the wrong outfits they received when reselling, is one I didn’t consider, but I lean to the explanation that they couldn’t distinguish or didn’t care to do so between the different uniforms for both sets were just German in their eyes.

It's only a theory, because there was ALOT of n*zi stuff and also quite a bit east German and nothing else. It might just be because there's a lot of East German stuff around on the market right now 🤷🏻‍♀️ they mass produced things and it's not in use anymore since reunification.

Thrift shops are really interesting places. Just the other day, I read that some English guy had bought an actual 3rd century BCE Ancient Greek gold wreath and nobody knew that it was genuine until he brought to an expert decades later.

I love Soviet stuff (also a Marxist-Leninist) but I’m also a big history buff and find Nazi Germany and the Military there of quite fascinating. So I can understand why you find fascist stuff problematic, but at the same time I can’t help but find an original iron cross from 42 or a NSDAP pin or even like an original Kar98k with the original serial number and waffenamt Eagle stamp just interesting, personally I think owning those things are fine as long as you actually understand what they mean, and what Nazi germany did. And when it comes to displaying Nazi stuff, i.e. a museum or maybe a glass case at home. It needs to have something that tells your what it is, what it meant and what the Nazis did, or direct you to somewhere that does tell you those things. I got really luck an found an original Luftwaffe knife. (Also own many original soviet things such as medals and such) but I keep my Luftwaffe knife away from view and only show it to people when I’m able to give proper context. I also thing military stuff is less important context wise then say a banner or party pin. As something like a knife or gun is a lot less fascist and more just military but still need to be told what the item is.
