▶︎▶︎ Kimi Antonelli has been linked to a sensational debut in F1, and it seems like Mercedes are extremely satisfied with what they saw so far from the tests he performed in Austria and will continue to do so later in April as well. With Sargeant’s performance being questionable week in and week out, the Grove-based squad might be open to a change that would propel the team into the points and give themselves a Toro Rosso-Verstappen-like environment that happened back in 2015. But with age being the main issue, as well as Williams' statements that they do not want to serve as the Silver Arrows’ breeding ground for talent, could Miami be the last race for Sargeant?

ngl i can understand why williams doesnt want to be mercs breeding ground but they have a good car and being mercs breeding ground will help them as they are outting talent in so that means more points and a better constructors position

No, why should he receive special dispensation and leapfrog others given he hasn't even qualified for a superlicense? Even Piastri who won everything in his rookie seasons coming up had to sit out and wait for his opportunity. This smells of F1's desire to see an Italian in a car much like their previous desire to have a German in a car al'la Schumacher in the early days.

if Sargent goes, i think the Ferrari reserve driver Oliver Bearman should drive for Williams until a true seat comes for him

Haas buys every component theyre allowed to from Ferrari and has a Ferrari engine. Through their relation Bearman will get a seat there. Bearman is also already living in Italy, and wouldnt have to move as Haas also operates from Maranello. Williams has a Merc engine and the ties are close between the teams, so thats why Antonelli is going there.

I feel for Sargeant, I hope he can complete his season instead of being ousted. I mean I haven't followed Kimi enough to say that he is or is not the right driver, this experiment could end up better for Williams and Kimi or very bad for Kimi. If he can't deliver, it would damage his confidence coming into the sport and burning out in an environment where the car is not the easiest to drive. Hope it all goes well to all involved.

But, Kimi isn’t eligible for a Super License until August? Not that I can’t see this swap happening, but I don’t think it can happen as early as after Miami.

his resemblance to Senna is ierry, Senna last drove in a Williams at Imola, and Antonelli is going to resume in a Williams at Imola...

If Mercedes would just understand this gift and give Carlos a 2 year deal. You get experience for developing the 26 era car and Carlos will get to see if Audi are any good in 26. Then Kimi goes to Mercedes in 2027.

Even if they would replace Logan, they can’t do it until end of August. Kimi is 17 and you have to be at least 18 to race in F1

Antonelli to Williams for the Rest of 2024 and the whole 2025 season. Hülkenberg to Merc for 2025. thats what I want to see!

So much for wanting the best in F1. Oscar won his debut in F4,F3, and F2 and still had to wait to get a slot in F1. Why are they trying to shoehorn these mid drivers in F1 ?

I think Toto still has nightmares of loosing max so he won’t put himself through it again. Also I think kimi will be Ferrari bound very quickly not because they are the better team at the moment but because of Kimis nationality. He grew up round the corner from Maranello.

If I were Mercedies, I'd be reluctant to risk undermining his confidence and stunting his development by putting him in a dud car managed by a team with no spare parts and resources.

Im new to F1, but is there a reason we keep hearing about F2 drivers that arent even near the top of the standings? Bearman, antonelli, and not Maloney, Aron? Maybe they are the closest to 18?

It is more or less like they are considered from the beginning of their racing career like from karting . Just being top of the standings in F2 means no good .

@@tortuga7160 antonelli is like 3, 4 years younger than most guys in F2, he is a massive talent. Bearman was up there in F2 last year and also in F3. Hes just been unlucky with prema's poor performance and other circumstances. Bearman has also already proven himself in F1 machinery and is also still very young. Normally the guys who finish high in F2 are the ones to look out for tho

Williams knew TP needs to move on now from Logan. His own credibility is on the line. He back Logan after a horrible first year but we aren’t seeing improvement. In fact, his confidence level seems to have dropped.

I would have hoped that he has realised that he was played at Merc. When Ferrari dropped him Toto nailed some amazing advertising value by putting his arm around Mick - AND for a bargain price. Mick will never feature on the F1 grid again. Some say that he never should have.....

Normally I never believe this type of this types of rumours. However, I believe and HOPE that younger drivers like Antonellie can tske the step.... F1 URGENTLY needs refreshing over drivers... Let the F2 champions put OUT drivers like Stroll and Sargeant!!!! F1 is to very STATIC. Let's F1 be more dynamic like when BERNIE had the final say!!!
