You sound as such a great mom! I think your advice applies to every kid, not just autistic ones. You are being really helpful to me. I will most likely have an autistic kid because my husband is Asperger, so I really want to be as prepared as possible. Thanks for your videos!

Yes to the punching bag. We bought one for our son two years ago, before he got his ASD diagnosis, and it still helps him tremendously. Also, the transition from school to home is so challenging. Thank you for all of this helpful information.

Hi - thank you so much for taking the time and trouble to make these videos . I wish you had been around 10 years ago! My son who is nearly 20, struggled at school so I drove 52 miles each way to take both of my sons to a Steiner School, for two years. That wasn't particularly helpful for Ben. He is in the process of being diagnosed for ASD but my husband was diagnosed 3 years ago, and omitted to tell me thinking it unimportant. It's so difficult to find a safe way to parent Ben but he is a wonderful young man whose clever, intelligent and in his best space, really funny. Thanks once again for sharing your experiences. x

Hi! That was a nice video for us to watch thank you! It’s always nice to get reminder and bring us back to certain routines. Breath is very important. My son now breaths with essencial oil as well. There are some breathing techniques that calms them down. Could you share some tips for stemming? How to help them to control stems?

My son is 19, a lot older than your kids. Forgive for going off- topic with this frivolous comment, but i adore yuour taste in decoration. I love it when you walk us around your house. By the way my son is learning computer programming and he’s brilliant, thank god. After the hell we went thru to not repeat a grade.

Thanks for sharing new subscriber here 😊❤️. I am a mom with Bipolar and 2 kids on the spectrum (mild) aged 12 and 4. With my eldest, who also has ADHD, he’s feeling anxious from time to time. I taught him what I learned to cope with Bipolar using my modified version of CBT 😋. For instance, he’s going to wake up in the middle of the night afraid of something like he heard there’s someone screaming from outside. I recognize he’s feeling and then ask him do you evidence to support that? Then lately, it seems like it creates a pattern to him. Whenever he’s anxious of something he tends to say out loud and ask himself if reality supports it otherwise move on. Like I can give him a headset if he finds he’s surrounding is noisy but he must be also aware that noise is part the universe, and he needs to adjust as painful as it is at times.

My 3 old boy with GDD, SPD who has very little words has started randomly crying for no obvious reason. I’m not sure if he’s sad because struggling to communicate or just another reason. So upsetting to see 😞 PS love the bedroom. Is there a bedroom tour? Would love to see more of his activites and sensory things that calm him so I can get some strategies in place.

I think the best thing for eye contact is play therapy. Get down to your sons level. Play with him get in to his world. I found lying down and playing with cars with him made me him took at me. Hope this helps x

Does Dylan sleep thru the night, my 4 year old boy has never slept thru the night and all Doctors do is prescribe sleeping pills. Which I refuse to give him. Other than Melatonin have you ever used anything else to help with sleep??

Nadia Murillo hey there I can’t believe the dr prescribes sleeping pills for a 4 year old! Well done you! Dylan didn’t sleep through until he was 6 ! So hang in there it doesn’t last! Melatonin was what helped getting him to sleep . Kept lights down low and salt lamps. My video on our night time routine might help you also x

Great video, our son used to have intense separation anxiety but eventually grew out of it. In terms of biomedicals, the amygdala region of the brain is most cited as being related to fear and anxiety. The ayurvedic herb bacopa monnieri has been studied to both promote growth of this brain region (which I understand from MRI scans is often compromised in ASD children) and also research suggests it can increase Serotonin Transporter (SERT) expression - which can reduce fear response in the amygdala.
