➡️ Learn how to overcome anxiety and end panic attacks: www.byebyepanic.com/?...
When you struggle with anxiety symptoms and doctors keep telling you that nothing is wrong, you’ll probably start looking for solutions online. There you'll find all sorts of advice, quick fixes, and techniques to overcome anxiety, but they often contradict each other.
Those tips usually cover a range of advice, from breathing techniques and other things that help during a panic attack, to very specific actions like what to do when experiencing the uncomfortable sensation of a lump in your throat.
You might even try some of them, only to find they often don't work.
So, how can you distinguish helpful advice from myths that might even make things worse?
In this episode, I'll guide you through some of the popular videos you might come across on social media and clarify why many of these are misleading or only partially true.
I’ll also debunk some misconceptions and explain:
- Why you don’t actually need breathing techniques
- Why distractions won’t eliminate your anxiety symptoms
- Why sticking to routines isn’t the answer to preventing anxiety episodes
- Why relying solely on religion isn’t going to cure your anxiety
- Whether there is actually a cure for anxiety
So, if you're tired of quick fixes that don’t fix anything at all, check out this week’s episode and let’s talk about real anxiety recovery.
Tune in now!
Key Takeaways:
Intro (00:00)
Exposure therapy - why it fails without symptom understanding (00:19)
Incorrect use of breathing techniques (01:34)
What to avoid during a panic attack (07:43)
Having routines can’t prevent anxiety (12:14)
Religion doesn’t cure anxiety (13:21)
Lump in your throat sensation - run toward it instead of resisting (15:03)
Distraction won’t make anxiety symptoms go away (18:40)

Love this! I used to hate breathing techniques! They made me feel worse and id force myself to do them anyway thinking it would work lol I appreciate you so much shaan! Thank you so much for your help it really has made an unforgettable difference in my life 🖤 I'd love to hear your input on the spiritual trends going on in the world right now. I used to follow a lot of so called spiritual teachers and ever since I decided to let go of believing I'm broken and need to constantly do shadow work, anxiety has calmed down so much

I agree , I used religion to fight anxiety and it frustrated me. I learned the concepts of acceptance and no more anxiety. I’m still a spiritual person which is wonderful but I don’t use it to fight anxiety.

I love your videos and advice. You have helped me so much. I do feel like when I understand a symptom I have no fear or resistance to it and it dies quickly. But sometimes I want to refresh my mind on it and can’t figure out where I saw it… so then I google. My current hurdle is driving on the freeway with brain fog. I heard it’s harmless and that when you’re anxious your mind is actually sharper. Can’t remember where I heard it and when I google well google makes brain fog sound bad and same with DPR. I watched your anxiety came back video right at the time I had 2 kidney stones and took pain killers. I had massive DPR for days after and remembered you making a video about it after drugs and weed and I was calmer in allowing it… but I had other things happen too and not being able to explain it made it hard to accept it as anxiety like my vision would feel like I had a screen over my eyes for a few seconds or the whole world looked blue like the twilight movies filter and I couldn’t remember how anxiety causes that. I’m good with throwing things under the anxiety umbrella but I also like to know how exactly anxiety is working at that moment. How do we figure that out? Like when I get shakes I know that my body is burning off extra adrenaline and I smile and I’m like cool thanks body… but how do we figure out other symptoms? I like to screen shot things and read them when I’m in full blown panic because it redirects my mind and I’m able to easily remind myself it’s anxiety. Dpr isn’t dangerous brain fog isn’t dangerous I can still think and focus… but in those moments and days it does not feel that way and I second guess because I can’t look it up.

Please!! Post more videos like this. Because there are so many people out there who are selling anything from snake oil to ice baths as a “cure”for anxiety. But I do have a question for you Shaan, can you talk about the difference between panic attacks and anxiety attacks? Is there really a difference between the 2?? Thank you for providing such valuable information.❤

Coping mechanisms do actually more harm than good, they can delay true healing for years and they might make you believe that something very serious is wrong with you

What weirdo doctors to say something like that. My advice fake it till you make it. Anxiety is a mindset just understand everything you feel is anxiety cause you are not dieing be comfortable with it and change your mindset😊

I don't agree with you Shaan. The lemon technique is very good. Maybe it's more like a metaphor. Doing something that will bring you back to the present as he says and stop the symptoms. What I do is drinking water or splash water on my face. It's refreshing and it helps me. I'm quite sure it has already prevented some panic attack for me.

@@callahansmith1411 but at the same time it's too idealistic because you need daily tips to "survive" if you deal with anxiety. And that's great. healing takes time and you have to go on with your life. I have my own tips and they work for me
@callahansmith1411
@callahansmith1411 8 күн бұрын
@@crulova3776 Do you really need a tip to survive the day? Because by trying to make the discomfort go away, you are teaching your nervous system that this feeling is a threat and this is the cycle. What would happen if you didn’t have the technique? Nothing dangerous would happen.
