Mr Wells! I've been to Church services where, the Parson asked for "A show o' hands"; "Who've weathered fifty years o' Marriage? And Who here 'mongst Us today have been married for sixty year? Seventy year?" These are the Men an' Women to Whom, "Honor is due." And Their Children an' Gran'Chil'ren and Great Gran'Chil'ren All say "Amen. We Honor them livin' Ancestors o' Our'n that've made Us partakers of Life..., and that more abundantly." 🙂 Rick Bonner Pennsyltucky

Good morning Donnie. I got my haircut on Tuesday so I can get cleaned up for my trip this weekend. There’s an older gentleman that works there whose name is Denny. I’m so used to watching you and I haven’t seen him in a while, so I accidentally called him Donnie a couple times. I told the lady that cuts my hair why I said your name instead of his name. I showed her your channel and I learned that she also watches your channel. She is of Appalachian heritage, her family is originally from Kentucky and Tennessee and she has some Cherokee roots.

Donnie that story was worth more than the 12 minutes to watch it . We had a lot of flat tires back then with the inner tubes they’d go flat in 3 minutes with a nail in them . My wife was seventeen and had her mom to sign for her . That was in 1976 and we still together so we have surely been blessed.

I absolutely love your stories. Puts me in mind of my Daddy and Mommy. They were born an raised in the W.V Appalachians. He was a coal miner and moonshiner. Back in the depression. He was a great Daddy. But he was a wild man. When he was young.hes passed on now. Lived with black lung until he was 86. He gave his life to Jesus when in his 30's. Stopped makin shine. An he was a good man, my daddy. He never was one to tell stories a few that curl your hair. My mommy was the stories keeper. But that's another tell. I wanted to share this story my daddy told me. He had a bootleg horse. Black as the night and he said this horse wasn't scared of the devil. So one night he was comin home late. And he was upon this ridge in Alcott W.V and this was before tvs and you never heard of bigfoot or the booger. But he said he smelled something like rotten hen egg's. And that horse started rarin up. And didn't want to go pass there. Then he said he came face to face with this thing he ain't never seen in them woods before. It was covered in hair, and it's face was bare. But he said it was at least 7ft tall. And his horse threw him off. And he said ran down the way he came. And he got up on his feet an ran in the same direction as his horse. He said,he never seen it again. But he said till that horse blacky, died he would never go up that hollor agian. He said I tell you Patty Jane the truth. An my daddy never lied. I thought maybe you could use this in one of your KZfaq videos. His name was Albert Nettles. Agian thank you for your show. We never miss em. God bless you and yours. ❤️🙏❤️

Your parents were special. They loved each other all their lives. You came from special stock. I love a love story. I found out after my son was about 6 my parents had to marry because they were in the family way with me. I know now for the last of my life I was a love child. Disaster to some but special to me. Dad passed first like your dad then mom. I bet you and I would love to have one more day with our parents. What a special life we had that started with the love of a young rebel for their hearts desire.

Awwww made me cry. Your parents were a beautiful couple. Sixty Six years💖 My parents were married 40 years when daddy passed away at age 57. He was 17,she was 15 when they married. When she was 9 and he was 11,she saw him at school and said,” I knew I wanted to marry him as soon as I saw him. Six years later, they did. She used to tell a story about older women in the little old farming community would mark down every young couples wedding date…and the date of their first born…😂 Mom said there was 5-6 older women over at her grannies house, making quilts when my mom came in,big and pregnant. The old gals started figuring in their heads….trying to see when my parents got married. Mom was mischievous… they married in April,my oldest brother was born in Feb. Mom told her grandmother out loud…. Well this baby is due in February, that’s 10 months after we got married,so I reckon it would have to be a world record pregnancy if we had to get married. I always got tickled when she would tell that story. Thanks Mr. Donnie for a beautiful story and some good memories.

Lots of family went north thinking they could make more money working in the factories than in the mines only to come back home. As the saying goes There's no place like home. Your parents sound like good old-fashioned hard working people. I would have been honored to have known them. Until next time have a great weekend Mr.Donnie, God Bless.

I sure enjoy these accounts of the people of Appalachia you share. God bless you brother for honoring these people. People back then understood (many people anyhow) that Jesus must be the center of any marriage in order for it to truly be a fulfilling one, sense marriage represents Christ and his Church being fully reunited (Ephesians 5:31-32).

such a wonderful story, and very similar to ours. (without the flat tires, and multiple trips to the courthouse) ha ha... I was 17 and Arvil was 18. Its been over 53 years, and I wouldn't trade our story for anybodies. Thank you for sharing your videos with us, they bring laughter and tears because we can really relate to them.

You had a smart father with having the good sense of stowing those extra tires just in case! I know to about traveling down old bumpy one way dirt roads with plowed ditches on both sides, scary to try to pass someone! I often wonder if there’s any dirt roads left….. Bless your Father, he sure had a good heart! God Bless you too, Donnie, I just love these stories and read them over again. Please take care! ❤️🙏❤️

It just amazes me how many similarities there are between our lives, even though i grew up states away!! My parents grew up in tiny communities, farm kids, also in the Depression years. They were wed in August. Had 57 yrs together until Mom left! Their courting was similar...letters, utilizing Greyhound buses, etc. Your Holiday stories are also very similar...window shopping, "The Wishbook", etc. There is a story i must share...one Saturday just before Christmas, Mom took me to see Santa down at the fire station. As i settled in his lap and looked up at him, well, i recognized him as a neighbor across the street. I glanced at Mom who had firmly placed a her finger across her lips, saying not to let on. This neighbor all us kids on that street knew because he had a Model T with a rumble seat that he had given us rides in on several occasions!! He looked the part with his handlebar mustache and sleeve garters and straw hat. Thanks for bringing that memory to my mind! Keep those stories coming! God bless! Hope you had a very blessed Thanksgiving!
