On Facebook, the founder of the Appalachian cast-iron skillet did a scrambled egg with no oil or butter and I was very impressed so I had to try it for myself.

I’m excited but the price will probably stop me from buying, I’m guessing $225 or up.

Good demo. The skillet did a good job especially being dry, no butter or oil. Nicely Done. Thanks for sharing. 😎🇺🇸☘️.

For NO OIL/butter…that was pretty good, an excellent experiment, because you KNOW if you would have used butter, it would have been a VERY different result, so this was pretty cool!! What an awesome looking skillet!!

Exactly thanks for understanding this was an experiment and for entertainment purposes. No one is going to cook without any oil/butter.

Very nice demonstration. Impressive also. I wonder if I could try this out now with my skillets

Thanks and that was actually not as difficult as I thought it would be. Honestly it really is heat control

I have the 8 and 10 plus the waffle iron. They are great best waffles no sticking , my 10 makes the best fried potatoes. It’s best to let the egg release on its on as well as the heat look to hot.

I have the waffle maker and the 10”. Very happy with both and I will be picking up the 8” as well. They really are great skillets and the design is beautiful

I'm interested in the waffle iron but the stars give me pause as they look like a tricky spot to season or clean. Do you have any issues with that?
@luisj.castironcooking2 жыл бұрын
@@ConfusedTacos It depends… if you have a bit of cooking experience with cast iron and know good heat control it shouldn’t be an issue. If you do not, it can be a bit difficult. I had ZERO experience with a waffle iron. I was intimidated but this company includes video demos on KZfaq and also a well written letter with tips of how to use, clean and maintain your waffle iron. Hope this helps

Sorry to say, you burnt the crap out of that poor rooster rocker .....
@luisj.castironcooking2 жыл бұрын
Well I wouldn’t say burnt to a crisp but in my opinion it did great considering no oil was used. Also I like my eggs fried, with crispy edges. I only like runny egg yolks with toast, bacon and hash browns.

WOW! WHAT A NICE LOOKING PAN!!! The sides are thin, and the outside look great! The logo is very nice, it has tons of charm!! Sorry to say, in no way is it non-stick!!! You killed the inside of that pan! You even used a fish spatula to try to scrape it out. That egg stuck like a stamp to an envelope! Your heat was way to high. You never tossed some water on the pan to test it. As soon as I saw that egg in the corner of the pan I knew you were toast! That egg did not move in the pan at all... you need some oil... sorry, I have to call them as i see them..... you killed that egg, and not in a good way.... Would you give that egg to your wife? Not me....

Cast iron is NOT a good heat distributor, hence you had less sticking in the middle where heat is less.
