Home Depot and Lowes are literally across the street from one another. You can see either store from either parking lot. When I know what I want I check online for in stock items, compare prices and order for pick up from the store and in some cases from both stores.

Like this coverage and explanations of each of the parts. I actually shop at both stores but prefer Lowes even though it is a bit farther of a drive. They seem to have slightly better quality items.

Hey Chuck, those prices may vary by location; here Home Depot (pronounced dēpō😉) always beats Lowe's prices. I shop at both though; just depends who has what I need. I found the Sta-Green fabric only at Lowe's. Thank you so much for all your videos! I am learning so much from you! 🙌

When it comes to big box HW stores... it's Lowes for me every time. Except... when I was planning and sourcing my drainage project, Lowes had little of what I needed in stock plus long wait for delivery. Same thing happened with an attic pull down ladder I was installing. Maybe the supply chain issues are hitting them worse than HD.

I worked for ADS, delivering our products to both stores... Zero quality control during the entire process, so be sure to inspect your perspective product before purchase. Even though we could make good product, it wasnt guaranteed and it would often get damaged before reaching the shelves.

ADS plastic is truly a lesser impact to the environment, as PVC poly vinyl chloride is the poison plastic in every stage of its lifecycle, and additionally is not technically recyclable (although that's not what APC American Plastics Council will tell you).😂

Recently needed wood for soffit repair. Went to Home Depot. Pieces of plywood warped and non-pt. Lowe's had decent pressure treated. I find Lowe's has nicer products. Recently needed plants. Wanted fancy colored hibiscus. Lowe's was cheaper but Home Depot had the color I wanted

Lowes will also take off 5% if you use their charge card. HD does not do that. They both give discounts to Military.

Using the HD credit card I get 1 year returns. Lowes is 30 days. I was a Lowes fan forever but my main spot is HD now because of the returns.

I live in Quebec province of Canada. Here, Lowes operates under Rona banner. Lowes/Rona offer both big box style (Rona Entrepot, similar to HD in size/selections), and neighbourhood smaller, local stores just called Rona. Rona is more expensive, but offer 15x more stores. I live between 2 Home Depot 30 to 45 minutes away; in that same area, I have 12 Rona to choose from, including 4 that are less than 20 minutes away. Price is one aspect, but proximity is also a factor.

J McGuire that was a interesting video to watch a long with Chucks other videos from apple drains, from my experience I shop both stores, Home Depot seems to have what you looking for on average most of the time. Yes Lowes are cheaper but don’t seen to carry a lot of stock, unless contractor’s are hoarding supplies. Over all that video was worth checking out. Great job Chuck 👍🏻

Lowes has a more readily available stock of 4 inch Green SDR 35, the sweet spot price for sewer pipe unless you have bulk business contracts for sourcing schedule 40 PVC. Home Depot is pushing more thinwall varieties in-stock (not sure if they get higher profit margins on that flimsy junk)

Hi Chuck, thank you for the great video. I recently tried installing 3" triple wall ADS pipe to a 6" nds spee-d basin and noticed the piple has alot of slop when going into the basin pre cut hole any tips for a tighter connection? Seems like these NDS spee-d basins are built for corrugated pipe

HELLO cHUCK. Thanks for your videos. Very good. we love it. I would like your opinion or any plumber that can help me. when installing medium size catch and water pump . (NO possible to connect to any pipes around). the plastic catch needs pebbles and concrete underneath ? or only pebbles underneath but concrete inside to avoid catchment to move up once it rain ? It happens once to me!!! The plastic came out of the hole and was floating . what can i do to make it fixed and stable inside the hole? Thank you for any help . Cheers.

Here is my question What is your feeling about using 4 inch perforated hose that comes with the sock covering vs the pipe with the gravel and the cloth? Home Depot sells 100 foot rolls of this It seems way easier and quicker to just rent a trencher and roll it into the trench and cover it back up

Despite the outlet size being the same a 6" catch basin is NOT going to be able to handle the same amount of water as a larger basin due to the restrictions of the smaller grate. That being said, you very well may be better installing more smaller basins catching the water from more locations.

lowes, home depot use self check out no maned check out. so I do not shop at either any more. There is no 25% discount for having to do the store job.

Wow this is amazing, thank you for all this great content. I have one question, I clean gutters for a living in Florida and wondering what would you do in a scenario where a catch basin was installed at the end of downspout which is placed in a flower garden and is flooding the garden after heavy rainfall? Any input would be appreciated. Keep up the good work 👍

In S Florida due to storms, recommend keeping roof water and ground water collection in separate pipes, and do not mix as best management practice.

I've always preferred Lowes but Home Depot is more convenient. There is a HD on every major corridor by me, 5 HD's within 20-25 minute drive. There are only 2 Lowe's within the same drive.

Want to install a 6 inch catch drain which is next to a cement walkway and a 3 foot high cinder block wall due to being the lowest point in the yard next to the house. The downward flow would be to run the drain pipe through the block wall which is 2 feet away from the house, then under the house, which slopes to the other side about 45 ft. House sits on a raised frame with sloping dirt underneath. Would this be okay using pvc or flex?

I just cleaned my lanai drain and need to plumb it outdo it drains. Right now I have a dam. Pretty simple project. I do have a question for you. Any advise on making my drain or a catch basin snake proof? I am in swfl and have many snakes around my home. I do not want them coming into my lanai through the drain pipe / channel

I only have a lowes store locally but when its a bigger order, Ill drive to HD because of three reasons: 1) they have more in stock more often (not counting current times), 2) most of the time the price difference is more than enough to cover the cost of fuel and I can get several orders in one trip. 3) in the past three years their staff (on whole) is more helpful though just as parse as Lowes.

So I just finished the video ... those are some vastly different results from my area. Its only 2' here today but I have to .. supposed to run to Lowes to get something for a project and they do not have it so Ill be getting it at HD today has it in the store. What is the difference between ground water, roof downspout water and basement water? Can one drainage system be installed to address all water issues?

ground water is water being held by the soil. While all soil holds water, it should drain down and away normally. If it pools and sits there, the soil become saturated and can't hold any more. If it sits there, water will always find the lowest level so if it's soil around a basement it's going to find any gaps and come in and become basement water. Downspout water is the water coming off your roof in large quantitates , but only when it's actually raining. If properly routed its taken to drains and doesn't add to ground water. But if its not taken away it goes straight to the ground and or basement. A french drain to give saturated soil a place to drain too will solve ground water and you can tie the downspouts into the same pipe. Will carry away the heavy flow of active rain and then give a place for the steady drip/drain of the excess groundwater. It's possible to need additional basement drainage but often fixing the downspouts and draining the wet soil spots will fix basement water issues. Talk to a pro for guidance even if doing it yourself.

i just looked these up in my area and for basin, pipe, grate, and elbow, all were significantly lower at home depot. the total was 18% cheaper. don't mislead people.
