Very interesting technique used in that engine for getting the proper cam chain tension. Thanks for sharing. Not getting tired of the Cosworth engine work here.

Hi I think it's the machining process and fault finding little bits like not damaging oil pipe .I enjoy. My partner had mental health probs, your comment about washing kids Brough back a project my lad and myself did for her, we wrote down any thing that we could remember that made her laught ( seem to be mainly about him ) plenty of pages for later events. When things got to much she flick it open at any page had a read which offten brought a smile. Good memories to keep for your kids later on in life when things get forgotten.

Not so sure I agree. I like to see the variety of engines not commonly available in the North American market, especially Canada. Like the V4 engines available there, even though they are not a real common design.

Brilliant video as always, however as an old geezer, lifetime with engines of all sorts, a small suggestion. There are probably thousands who use these great videos as a DIY guide and the timing is always a worry for many. Perhaps when ‘replacing’ the chain ‘false link’ remind folk to ensure closed end of retaining clip ( head of the fish ) faces/goes in direction of travel, they do come off as many a biker will affirm but without the resulting damage.

Lee, Funny thing about working in any kind of machine shop, we come home smelling a bit funky. You know, we all smell like mineral spirits, cutting oil, steel shavings, and metal. A lot of the guys would clean up and change clothes before going home. You didn't want to wear your rental uniform back home in everyday car. So, do you guys know what I'm talking about, the old "shop funk" on you body and clothes? We don't smell bad. We just smell like work. 😅😅

Hmmm, let me echo all the positive comments-everything i was going to say has already been said. I sense an attitude change, less driven. I hope you can sustain it. Also, I too wondered about Isaac saving the company from the title. Please dont leave us hanging-we'll be back without the cliff hanger. I promise. 😊

Just a casual content suggestion for your other channel Lee....maybe an occasional feature on engine design focussing on anything abit unusual you come across. Totally ad hoc when it suits you of course. It just occurred to me how many engines you handle and how popular 'tear down' channels are. Just a thought.

I've just been given a K reg Sierra Sapphire. Fella had it parked off-road here in my driveway, £15 a month, and he phoned me earlier asking me if I want it for nothing. He doesn't need it. Pinto 1.6 engine it has. Smart Ford alloys it has.

Back in the day, a buddy and I rebuilt a couple of Isuzu engines just to learn more about how it all comes apart and goes back together. We had a great time working together. Those times built a friendship that is alive today. Of course there were no oil jets on these tiny little Japanese 4 cylinder engines. So, why do the oil jets pump oil into the inside of the piston. How does that does that help with lubrication? Thanks. Alan from NC, USA

Hi Lee, John, Isaac, Paul. You didn't mention what caused the piston damage you left us to diagnose on the previous video. Also what are your thoughts on why the Land Rover engine is such an unusual design. At first I thought it might be to make repairs and maintenance easier but having given it some thought I now think that is not the case.

Suffice to say it’s a Land Rover, no other explanation required 😂😂😂
@mrdainase
@mrdainase 10 ай бұрын
It does look a bit of an oddball idea but it's not an unusual design at all, this format was used by a lot of manufacturers at one time or another including Rolls-Royce. It was a step up from side-valves, gave pretty decent power, could tolerate some quite rubbish fuel and was quiet and smooth too. I had a P4 with the 6-cylinder version of this engine, it was almost silent and had no problem keeping up with modern traffic.

Over head valve inlets, side valve exhaust? Greatly increase power, exhaust is exhaust, don't lose much keeping them side-valved, I guess.

Unless the legal term " Time is of the essence" is included in the contract, then all time is an estimate, and you cannot be sued for any delays, it wasn't your customer so you had no contact with them . If you knowingly withheld the info that the barrings were faulty, and the engine went tits up, then the garage you did the work for , could have sued the arse of you . But not there customer. You under law had a duty of care, and you for filled your legal obligations . So not court would up hold that customer threat
