Thank you analyzing our games. It’s helpful. I like the idea hitting approach shots down the line- especially if it causes the opponent to hit a running backhand passing shot. I need to do that more- especially when the opponent’s forehand is better. Thank you for pointing that out. Sometimes I try to be ‘too clever’ and go crosscourt and it results in me getting passed at net. Correct- it was 6-6 in the tiebreaker. Tense point - especially knowing it’ll be on KZfaq : ]

Answering your question before watching video. I think the best time to approach the net is when you see our opponent stretched out in the corner, in distress, running back to center when the ball is already over the net, maybe even when they’ve hit a short, weak return. Thanks for sharing all this info!!!

Great video and breakdown! I really like how the point is played first, we can come up with our own conclusions and then you explain specific key moments throughout the point and specifics on the approach.

I don't consider myself a 4.5 player but I was surprised by so many of the shots going into the middle of the court. I tend to try to hit wider on both sides rather then into the middle of the court. Also, the hesitation and getting caught in no man's land was surprising. If there's any hesitation, don't attack, you have to have your mind made up. When playing doubles, I often tell my partners if they are going for a ball, just go for it. If you miss, you miss but, to me, you're worse off only going partially in on a shot. Really liked the analysis, think you were right on.

I love the breakdowns. There was one oversight that recognized on a few of the points. On at least 3 points, white shorts was approaching on shots that appeared not to stress his opponent at all. Where the opponent was not stretched or rushed or overpowered. You did mention that one should approach from a more offensive position, more than once. But I did not hear you say to approach on a more offensive shot!

the analysis is pretty good, but the stopping and starting the video is super annoying. Play the video in full, comment, and replay in slow motion. thx.
