12, almost 13 years later, I am still in love with this game, and I will never forget the amazing journey that was Aquaria. Thank you for the memories.

One of my favorite games of all time, purely because the atmosphere is amazing.

Just finished my first playthrough on the iPad. It's so good!! I can't believe a two-people team did this. And wow, I didn't know how to get rid of the leeches the whole time...should've watched this sooner. I always just zoned out and back in to get rid of them lol.

I fell in love with this game as well. Beautiful music, amazing scenery, and a compelling story. I have yet to find a game that gives me the same feeling that this game gave me.

This one of the most awesome games of all time. Everything is great: the deep and beautiful story, gameplay, art style, voice tracking and this amaaaazing soundtrack. Please guys, you have to make Aquaria 2!

Just downloaded this with Humble Indie Bundle 8, and I am impressed. Definitely one of the best 3 games I've ever played.

this reminds me of the silver age of gaming. definately something i'd buy. the music/art is amazing. underwater never looks so beautiful! It says something that when i saw the character leap from the sea, i felt something.

for people who watch this and are maybe unsure whether to get it... you should. You won't regret it, this is by far the best game I've ever played and I'm currently searching in vain for a game to play that is even remotely as superb as Aquaria is. It's challenging and beautiful and, and just buy it already.

Just got recommended this video, aquaria was my favorite game as a kid, i even dressed up as her for Halloween one year. Amazing game, so creative and unique.

This game alone is well worth the price of the Humble Introversion Bundle, even though the other games aren't anything to write home about. Stellar piece of work, can hardly believe two guys put this together in just two years. I am spellbound.

I got this game after I had a dream about swimming in underwater caverns. The next day, I was on Steam and found out about this game. I got the game instantly, and I regret nothing.

This game is grossly unknown. And I think the only reason for that is because its on PC and from a lesser known developer. This game needs more acclaim than it gets, and they need to make more like it

@Flevalt It's a well-made, enchanting exploration of a beautiful, imaginative world. Easily accessible and thoroughly enjoyable, atmospheric and gorgeous, it's an amazing mash-up of a classic NES adventure and that fish-tank screensaver you had in the '90's.

It seems to me that this game is the very definition of excellent art direction. Looks beautiful!

This is an exquisite game. Not easy, but if you like a good challenge and an immersive atmosphere, it's definitely worth buying.

The words, "Holy shit!" come to mind. when I see this game.

It's a Metroid/Castlevania style... underwater. You gotta love it, like Braid and many others indipendent games, that, in fact, overclass many so called "modern games".

weird that i haven't heard about this up until now (thanks to tigdb) that fish with the light and sharp teeth is going to be a challenge for me - these have always seemed incredibly creepy to me. but then again... most things from the deep sea seem like that to me - where everything is black and it's just you and them... and for all you know, you might by accident stumble across a giant octopus... brrrr...

Wow! Amazing! The best-looking and sounding indie game since Cave Story. Reminds me of Super Metroid and Shadow of the Beast. The music is just wonderful (again, reminds me of some aquatic rendition of the Journey theme from Shadow of the Beast) Is this coming to Live Arcade? If so, I'll buy it the day it comes out.

It's a real shame this never got a 360 or PS3 release, it would have likely done quite well on those. Maybe it could be released for the PS4's self-publishing indie thing?

I've just been playing this for the past 6 hours!!! I love it ^^ I loved Ecco the Dolphin too, and the games aren't really similar, apart from it's set underwater and it's a 2D swimming game. Apart fromt hat, they are two very different games. I love both games for different reasons.

Just finishing this left me pondering.. it's funny how a small project like this (small compared to most big company games) showed me as much value in story, graphics and gameplay as few recent big company games that I enjoyed. Why waste millions of dollars to get full 3D environment that's clearly flawed when you look at it for more than 12 hours, when you can get this kind of great graphical atmosphere with just two guys working on it for 2 years.

This game is a MASTERPIECE. Period. If you don' have it, just buy the Humble Bundle (12 days remaining) and experience one of the best things in your life :P

To be honest, I think that a full studio doing a 2d style game like this couldn't really do much better than Bitblot did. I just finished it and I really have to say that it is incredibly well polished and that some screenshots that don't show the vast diversity of the environment actually piss me off because it looks like a stupid flash fish tank game, and not something epic that takes 20hours to fully explore.

Best game ever :D I hope there will be a continuation :)

@merkantillian Sounds like you don't appreciate a challenge. There are only "dead ends" if you're going to a place that you shouldn't be going yet, and I for one think the developers made it pretty clear (generally) where to proceed. The forms are for versatility in gameplay, not to be "balanced" and to keeps you on your toes during the boss fights. There's plenty of variety in level design and a plethora of enemies. Not all good games need customization. :P

(...) An strong point among with the graphics are the dialogs, which have a great narrative level and attracts the player depth in the story. It's an overall great game. Don't get fooled by screenshots or prejudge it because of the main character, it's a good good game. And also an alternative to the big companies which most of them just change the year, add a couple thousand polygons more to the previous title and deliver nothing new or exciting. At least give this a try.
