I honestly think humans could not help but see Hobbits as childlike because of their size, and how simple and innocent they are, and they just got really protective of them all the time.

I honestly think it's their innocence and playful nature more than their size, other than being small, they don't particularly look like children, bit they certainly can act like it

Which was why when Boromir was dying, he said to Aragorn “they took the little ones” after the Orcs took Merry and Pippin. Despite appearing as grown men, the Hobbits are naturally innocent and simple, like children are.

In my opinion Aragorn is Frodo and Sam’s dad with Legolas being basically the mom, Gimli is the silly uncle on Legolas’s side, Boromir is the silly uncle on Aragorns side also being the dad of Merry and Pippin, the Gandalf is just the weird ass grandfather who you only see like once a year but he tells good stories.

The age differences in Tolkien can really screw with your head. Frodo's older than Boromir, Aragorn is more than twice Boromir's age, Legolas is a thousand years old, Arwen is 2700ish years older than Aragorn, Elrond is _older than the entire history of Numenor,_ and Galadriel is _older than the race of Men, and witnessed the first SUNRISE!_

One part of the theatrical cut that bothers me is that it doesn't show Merry and Pippin defending themselves and helping Boromir. In the extended editions they knife an orc and take out several others with stones. In the theatrical cut they literally just stand there until Boromir is down and then they get caught instantly. Seems a shame to discredit my boys like that

Don’t judge Denothir so harshly! Learn from him. The burden of leadership is intense - especially with Sauron sitting on your doorstep. On top of that, dinosaur was grieving for his dead wife - doubling his isolation. The films made him out to be much worse than the books. Look at the positive; a father who produces such amazing sons, as Boromir and Faramir must have a lot of good in him!

@@Shirogane First of all, this is the cutest, sweetest edit and I'm glad someone out there sees it in the exact same way! They are dads all the way! ....Secondly, I just can't believe in the theory that Bori was only protecting the ring when he scooped Frodo up and took him to safety after Gandalf fell! That part always gets me and nobody talks about it cause it happens so fast! Frodo looks so tiny in Boromir's great big arms. Plus his screams. Poor baby. T^T Also, notice the way Boromir brings his hand up to protect the back of Frodo's neck like one would a child before making a run for it. I love that man. He wasn't after the ring here. This was 100% fatherly instinct to protect the most vulnerable.
