I’ve always looked at King Shadow as being only a possible future for the character and as the game Shadow the Hedgehog demonstrates, it’s all about the path you choose.

Also i dont want a amaible Sonic and Shadow relationship, based on Sonic's "everything will be fine and him living in the moment" philosophy, Shadow should be hostile to such a concept which Sonic as his rival represents, they should try to respect in a way that only being rivals and a match to each other would work, but they dont percieve the other as being right and they dont really like each other as people since they might bring out something that would make them feel bad. I just like the idea that out of all the rivals Sonic has, Shadow is the only one he just doesnt see as a guy he wants to be friends with, he's fine with him being his ultimate rival and most fun to fight with or against, while Shadow is pretty much Sonic's main evaluator to see of the blue faker can keep his expectations up to his standards since thats the only way Shadow hasnt considered killing Sonic due to how he thinks Sonic is a childish moron unfit to protect the planet.

I dont mind Shadow being kinder and more compassionate. I just dont want it to be overt and too much expressive(like in archie), he shows these attributes by his own own distinctive way and terms not by his being unconditionally nice and good, the true Shadow is closed off and keeps to himself, his own character represents everything Sonic is not and even naturally shows off a mean and ruthless side that is made from his experiences and commitment to staying the dark and strong willed realist of the Sonic series. He is only good and virtous when its subtle and its shown through his intentions and willingness to fight for something righteous even though its just his own goal and purpose driving him. Archie Shadow doesnt have any of that dark edge and nature when doing his most noble deeds, and that kills it for me hes just another generic hero that has no unique way of extinguishing himself as a idealistic good guy from the other heroes like Silver or Tails.

Archie Shadow is just a lazy version of Archie Knuckles but with more Shadow being sidelined and made a autistic emo joke thst pouted alot instead of a total badass that actually overcame his issues on his own like Knuckles and had support along the way. I didnt like how him and Sonic is basically a jock being a dick to a emo prep kid. Sonic had no right to be calling him faker when Shadow saved his ass twice and has the most potential of killing him out of all of his rivals and even took his wife in the future.
