Excellent review fam. I love how authentic vario made this watch look. They have hit the hammer on the nail capturing the vintage style. Its spot on in my opinion.

I own the Medic version, and it is absolutely my favorite wristwatch. Mine is brass cased, white dial, orange lume. 🎖

I've always loved those dials, the enamel looks so good and matches the design philosophy so well.

I absolutely love these old watches. This trench watch though old-school is almost as appealing as an omega seamaster. I've just started collecting watches though I only own one watch so far.

Man, that brass case and fittings on the strap looks such gorgeous with the green shade leather! My other favorite is the blue one, these two a bit out of the ordinary colors. Also for me blue fits better with stainless steel version than the green one (but it's only a matter of taste). I also like the "medic" version, nice touch, that they using the NH38 real no date movement, instead of the more commonly used NH35. Many other microbrands just not paying enough attention to this, and having ghost date position of the crown on their no date watches. Vario 1918 series is definitely a go for it for me! :)

Nice looking watch. Thanks for reviewing. From my experience with brass, the patina is not quite like bronze if it ever gets patinated.

I’ve been drawn to this retro style watch design for some time and my younger self 67-71 wore a diver on a bund strap, but if you have an 8” wrist the supplied strap it may not work. Thanks Guy for showing us this offering.

I owned this exactly configuration in 37mm, the bund gives it so much presence that it was perfect on my 7 inch wrist. I do love smaller watches though. It was a great watch and the pund is amazing, feels great on the wrist. Great watch but felt like a cosplayer wearing it. I sold it to a friend so I could get it back if he let's it go.

They are great watches. I have a 37mm and agree it does wear a small, which I suppose is period accurate. However after watching your review I'm contemplating getting one of the 40mm.

This is my favorite offering from Vario style wise I love the old-school look and cathedral hands as well as the seconds dial PS Subscribed and liked 😉

I have been considering this watch as a purchase, but somehow couldn't pull the trigger because I'm not sure if it's a style that would suit me (even though I do like how it looks). I like how the watch is different from the norm without being outlandish - enamel dials aren't super common, and the wire lugs is a very bold move. Perhaps I like it because it "forces" me to be a little uncomfortable with the inconvenience of not being able to put on a regular strap, and be forced to "work around it" with a nato-style strap. After all it is designed to be old-fashioned, even though they took away many of the major inconveniences (such as actual glass that can shatter).

This is a very cool watch. I especially like the WWI reference. Wristwatches were so new then. Even inspired by the war out of necessity.

Seiko destroyed the lume expectation for all of us. Very curious if the patina will work on this watch on the long run. Does a bit of patina make a modern watch look retro and a retro watch look old? (never had brass watches to see how they age). Love the crown at 4 o'clock! It remains me of an SKX or a Helson 38Ti diver. Imho, there is no better spot to place that crown.

It’s a fine looking watch. As for the design being relevant, if you think tweed jackets, brogue boots and flannel trousers look nice (and I do) then it most certainly is.

my brain is now more tuned towards smaller size watches. this watch to me looks too big on your wrist , recommend u getting the 37mm original version instead although 40mm is the newer Vario size

I don't think the 4:30 crown matches the style

A couple of big mistakes were made with this watch - the numerals are way too big for the watch face and the movement is a low grade Miyota. The Longines 1918 is a great example of what the genuine look is for this type of watch.
