Rules for buying a designer belt: 1. Never spending designer prices on "classic" or "simple" belts. If you're spending hundreds of dollars, pick something that is distinctive, maybe a bold metal monogrammed buckle or something in braided leather or perhaps a belt as studded as a punk rocker's jacket. Spending three figures on a plain leather strap belt is a waste of money. 2. Always buy leather, fur or exotic skin belts. Fabric belts have a tendency to wear out, fray or stain readily. A high quality leather belt will not only last you decades - it'll develop a nice patina as it ages, becoming even more attractive with time. 3. Avoid white belts at all cost - even leather ones. Belts are constantly grazing against your pants, shorts or jeans. Color transfer can happen easily - wherein the dye that was used to color the fabric used to construct your pants or jeans rubs off onto your belt, ruining it. Because the belt is white, any stains become immediately apparent. 4. If you're going to invest in a belt, try to get one that has a more subtle pattern or a less-gaudy buckle so that you can wear it with as many outfits as possible. 5. Or, ignore rule number four and just have fun and buy a crazy belt! When you're wearing something understated, an over-the-top belt can really jazz up your look. Some belts are so luxe that you plan your outfit around your belt instead of the other way around! All in all, have fun. It's fashion. Don't take yourself too seriously and always experiment and play with your belts and accessories.

The problem is no one knows how to really style the Hermes H belt because it doesn't look good on anyone. It doesn't matter who you are or how you style it; it speaks volumes to a lack of taste. The people with real money and style sense would never be caught dead in such a thing. I actually owned one for a week before selling it (after realizing this sad fact)! Everyone can hate on me all they want because I really could not care less: it's just the honest truth. Not to say Hermes' other belts are tacky. Quite the opposite: I am lately loving the look of the Quentin (because that basic buckle is iconic Hermes but does not scream it and only the true fans of the brand will recognize it). This comment is getting ranty so I'll stop and save it for a video but thank you for bringing this up Alex!

If you're going to spend the money on a nice belt, pay an actual craftsmen to make on for you. They use higher quality materials that are typically sourced in a first world country. Cost is probably cheaper and you get a response from the actual dude who makes it.

I am 85 years old and would like to buy something nice that doesen't look like a uniform belt or i am being paid by the designer to advertise their logo. When i was young, expensive belt makers used to actually engrave the customer name on the belt or have the customer's first letter of their name on the buckle. Time defenetly changed... These days you pay more and carry their initials on the buckle instead of yours. Shouldn't digress, i apologize. Can you recommend a nice quality leather belt for my big day? Thanks

Hey Alex, hey guys, just wanted to share my experience on designer seeing as i own 4 (2 gucci, 1 louis vuitton and 1 versace). So basically i love the "loud" logos and canvasses, thats just my style, and out of all of them i love my louis vuiiton the most because its loud but not completly in your face loud. I only wear my others when i want to really spice up an outfit, ex. The versace belt, that big gold medusa against the pattened leather just screams "loud" xD anyway, just my experience on the subject, are they worth it? Yes, definatly 😎

Nice videos. In my opinion I've always thought designer belts are a waste of money.... They stay hidden most of the time anyway and any belts with very obvious markings or logos everywhere like Gucci or Louis Vuitton always look tacky to me ... Especially nowadays with people trying to show the Hermes buckle smh. All I need is some very good italian good quality plain leather belt in a neutral colour like black and I'm fine. I would spend more money on shoes and watches as I think they pop and complete and outfit but belts, meh ..... Not bothered with belts ...

Is paying 400 dollars for a belt buckle worth it, that's what it comes down to and truly is the main reason anyone is buying it. You can get a belt that will last most of your.life.for 40 bucks if we are just going quality product. You are buying a brand, and nothing is wrong with that. Don't like to yourself about how it is a smart decision, it's clearly not, but once again nothing wrong with that.

Out of Logo belts the one I prefer the most is Hermès, however I feel they are all in your Face and it is very difficult to wear them and not look tacky. I bought my Hermès because the price raises very fast, and that if I wanted to get one now would be the time. Howwver I don't wear it that much. The quality is just absolutely superb! However the Montblanc belt is really beautiful, subtle and elegant! So designer belts are definetly worth it, just make sure the Logo is subtle. (However I hate LV belts lol)
