Another good benefit that Olympic lifting have that others don't is you can tracking your power progress, if your power output has increased you definitely gonna feel it by catching the bar higher and easier , but for squat jump the way for knowing you're developed the power is jump height which is hard to track

Good point! I definitely should’ve mentioned that I like to do jump squats and hex bar jumps on a just jump mat or a force plate to make it most effective. Thank you for your input!

Or just see if your paused vertical jump has gone up 😄

@@CoolColJdoes your paused squat jump a good way to measure power increases?

@@jacobpena306 yes, especially since no technique is required

Man this video is perfect timing because I've been training my vertical for long jump and just tryna get more explosive for the 60m and I started power cleaning. For like the last 2 weeks and I was concerned about injuring myself because of not having perfect technique. But the hex squat jumping idea seems so obvious yet it never crossed my mind.

I’m glad you found it useful! And to make it the most effective, pair the hex bar jumps with a velocity measurement app or system, or a just jump mat. That way it will be 100% quantifiable. But I know not everyone has access to those tools. Though I’d mention it to you though, just in case!
