Hubby took prednisone for 1 month for his Bell's Palsy. They gave him a five month course. As an RN, Ihad my reservations and cut the time to 1 month only. Within 6 months, he developed Avascular necrosis (AVN) in his hips. Had to get a hip replacement. Beware of steroids of any form.
@WarrenEntertainment

I had to have a total hip replacement because of steroids that caused AVN. High doses of prednisone for psoriasis when i was 18. I have to tell my pain management doctor all the time I can't get the steroid injection. They want to do the ejection to avoid opioids. Drives me crazy. Drill mills everywhere now.

I have degenerative disc disease with anterolisthesis and I just had my first injection this week and it was pure hell for me. It was the most painful experience. I have bad anxiety so the pain was so intense and then my BP plummeted and I started feeling nauseous and lightheaded. They had to take a few moments to get my BP back up. Almost a week later and still no relief. I wish I didn't have it done. I literally cried during the entire procedure. I will never have it done again.

Either way the result was more pain long term. They don't help its just bs.

YES!!! I’ve had multiple conversations about this recently. I have Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, a genetic Connective Tissue Disorder. All of my connective tissues (basically anything that contains collagen) are affected. I’ve had quite a few steroid injections - especially in my SI joints and facet injections too (around the spine). Now, my SI joints are so bad and unstable. I can stand for about 10 seconds before severe pain sets in. My SI joints are constantly crunching, grinding, slipping, and popping, and it’s EXCRUCIATING. Any movement, even just shifting a bit in my chair, and they crunch and grind. I have an SI belt but they’re so bad at this point that it doesn’t help. Nothing helps - heat, ice, opiates, nothing. I’m only sleeping a couple of hours a night for weeks now. I can’t turn over in bed because of the pain. I’m scheduled for PRP injections in a couple weeks. If those don’t work, I’m going to need to start looking at SI fusion. I ABSOLUTELY regret steroid injections. Don’t do it, it’s not worth it!

I've had multiple tears in tendons and ligaments from heavy doses of methylprednisolone and kenalog injections. I don't know if I was also on fluoroquinolone antibiotics which is supposed to be bad about tendon rupture in its own right. So weird how there's not a deeper study into this and no class action lawsuit. I've talked to numerous people that have blown tendons from corticosteroids. One guy I used to work with blew out both of his bicep tendons. I mean he had actual divots where it's supposed to be straight.

They gave me this for my back injury. And it made me have a major auto immune response, and it made things 1000% worse. And the muscle relaxers destroyed the nerve communication from my core to the brain. I spent a year in bed unable to walk. I was flown back to the states from my new country. I had Advance Muscle Integration Therapy. It helped me beyond measure. I have my life back. Im.walking everywhere and am a lot stronger . I even have two very bad knees that need major help. That therapy totally put my body in line. And now I can walk fine without pain. The L knee has no interior ligament attachments and I have no plans to have surgery. Its solid because I'm in line now. He told me that it was something else causing the problem and without any discussion or my permission he just gave me steroid injection in my ft and revealed what he was doing as he was doing it. I didn’t really know how to react about that being that it happened so fast and I did want relief. However, I specifically asked for my foot to be x-rayed for a foreign object and would decide how to proceed after a discussion of the x-ray. I opt not to have steroid injections for cervical stenosis C5-C6-C7. Since it only covers up the pain and not fixes or helps the condition get better. I was also told there is a low risk of being totally paralyzed from the neck down if the steroids get into the spinal nerve. So, say no to a doctor that wants you to have it, live with the pain until you can get it fixed surgically or taken oral pain killers, which I did.

The world knows the US is bad at math but this may highlight the fact. 100 minus 8 equals 92. So 92 percent of the steroid recipients remained stable or got better. But the 8 percent is the emphasis. The US goes to war and loses one to three percent of its forces and no one stresses on the losses. I have had a shot for trigger finger and two in the hip for arthritis. Both shots worked wonders. Not saying any medical procedure is safe or better because the real tool of healing is the human immune system and the person's genetic. That is the real key to what ailments will be defeated and what ailments cannot be defeated. Your mother and father made that determination for you. But again, I would not consider 8 percent high enough to complain about. But it high enough to alert people of the potential. I don't think the cigarette companies or fossil industries would go out of their way to alert the public about an 8 percent death rate from the use of their products. But it would be nice if they did place that much value on human life.

Didn’t even explain to me what he was injecting . All he care was about the insurance was going to pay him good money . 2- doctor said it’s not safe you still young for it . Try other conservative therapy. 3- doctors who didn’t have nothing to do with the insurance said . You have the risk of losing bone density , affects you immune system, steroid Dane any cell tissue around the area where it was applied . It’s toxic for your brain

I've had 2 cortisone shots in my hip. They really help me. I go in for a epidural in my back july 12. Now I'm scared. Now when my first shoot was wearing off my God that pain was no joke. Pain was here for two days and went away. Idk i rather have 2 days of pain than everyday. Clearly don't want to put poison in my body. I don't take pain medication like that. I'm a frim believer never over due one day you might need the meds, and your body will not responding well to the medication. Also I cut meat out my diet for the most part. Also have a exercise ball that I do leg exercise. Also golf ball to lay on to massage the area.

I just gotten a cortisone injection in my joint of my right big toe because I have osteoarthritis yesterday. since yesterday it has caused slight paralysis to right leg. I really need a joint replacement because I have very little cartilage in the joint. I'm only 30 years old and even my doctor said I'm the youngest person he has seen with this problem and that by 50/60 I'm going to have to get the bones fused together where I won't even have a joint, and if I don't have a working joint how am I going to walk. I'm a active person always been. was a gymnast when I was younger but since my deformity gotten worse in my right big toe is getting worse where I have had to limit how much I walk, which has been all caused by the osteoarthritis. since I'm an active person this been hard to limit how much I walk on my foot and I truly don't want to be in a wheelchair at 50, so this is a lot I have to deal with. I've been to 3 other podiatrists who have given excuses to not do the surgery. now because of this cortisone injection I have a leg that doesn't work. I had a prior injury to my right leg that had caused permanent nerve damage and the doctor was aware of it. even with the nerve damage I was still able to walk, but now I've been after to use a cane because it feels like I have a dead leg and that all started about 20 min. after the injection.

That's all the pain management is allowed to do nowadays. Just give us something stronger otc . I'm tired of the cattle calls for shots and pharmacys limiting the doctors . Something has to be done because the ER will not help you since the pandemic. Pain is temporary to them and they legally will reject patients who aren't dying. Whoever made these laws is insane. A child with a runny nose has a better chance of getting help on a sunday.

I have had two injections, and its been perfect for me. 8% is NOT that much, and the truth is if you dug into it, Id bet many of them are addicted to pils, so they swear the injections are no good. Obesity and poor dieting are typical in Americans, putting them on addictive pills creating another addiction for them is NOT a good answer. Forcing Americans to stay within their weight limits and maintaing a good diet to keep their health insurance is a good answer. My problems are in my back, hips and knees from allowing myself to become obese. Now that I have lost the weight(which most Americans say they cant do due to hurting and poor dieting, when the weight and the diet is causeing the pain) I feel like a new person. Rationalization is nauseating in this country, excuse after excuse for why they cant lose weight, and just plain refuse to follow a diet. Thats why the rest of the wortld laughs at us....
