whiteboard or walls in general is *so* much better for quickly ideating things, no need to boot up a machine to take a quick note of something or move something around, everybody in the room (if several are present) can easily see and interact with it, any good setups can be photographed and stored for later, having it in a place often frequented means the brain will see it and work it’s magic in the background - digital tools are better for documenting things one comes up with on the board :) You could get an easel for it, and use a couple of clamps to fasten it to the easel - oh, and depending on if you are renting or not: magnetic paint, or technically «iron paint», for making any wall a huge «magnetic board» - and one can then paint over it with chalkboard paint, so the wall both works as a magnetic board *and* a blackboard :)

Ok last post...beer...nuff said An option for darkening the armor would be a chromatic black oil glaze. It's just a GOOD quality ultramarine blue and burnt umber 50/50. These are inexpensive even at better quality. I like ultrect at blick. The medium doesn't matter as long as it's not just boiled linseed oil. Then I'd thin with Japan dryer not white sprit. It'll dry much faster. Also you can add twice as much blue and get pains grey. Both of these pigments are transparent so the steel will still shine though. I would go medium heavy as you can always add more layers. In fact I'd really recommend a layer of varnish between layers as it causes a richness in color that is unreproducible any other way. Just layering the glaze on top of itself will just darken it. I'd use the airbrush. Cleaning it off with the naptha (mostly Japan dryer) even after it cures is as easy as wiping up spilled milk. Really important to do this outside and away from fire. Naptha is crazy flammable.

On the armor, since you know you don't want it dark forever you might consider a wrapping it, like they wrap cars and you can just peal it off like a sticker when you 're done with it, easier than paint stripper.

If the board is magnetic, can you get some dowels and glue magnets to the end of them, then attach the dowels to the back of the board to act as stand offs for the wall? Three inch dowels should do to give you room to flick the lights.
@tabletopalchemy
@tabletopalchemy 2 ай бұрын
This is a great idea thanks! Even just using blocks of wood to make standoffs to screw into would work🤙🍻

@@tabletopalchemyyou can also look for light switch extenders. Then you wouldn't have to move the board.

Cool sword, and very cool armor. I never knew that stuff like that is out there. Panic. Once I saw that for now you intend to keep the white board loose, not attached to the wall, I sensed an accident happening. The board topples, and most of the carefully arranged cards fall off from the impact. Hopefully a good solution presents itself

Might have a solution for the smoke: Get a battery powered power station to run the smoke machines. Anker has several models, portable power stations for camping, the powerhouse series - some (or all) of them can be recharged with a foldable solar panel and stuff. The budget you have lined up just for the grenades is almost the price of one of these gigantic batteries, and knowing the US there is probably plenty of rental opportunities, quick search gave me a price of 80 USD pr day :) So then you can run smoke machines AND charge your phones as well, AND a coffee machine, and maybe a slush-machine on the side ;)

@@tabletopalchemy for sure there needs to be testing, they do come in a variety of capacities so should be possible to find one that has the amperage to drive a decent sized fogger, unless it’s like a three phase industrial sized waterworld-covering fogger ;)

I could not stop laughing when you pulled out the smoke grenades. Back in the early 2000's a few friends and myself were trying to get some good smoke effects going on a stage. The first try was the stage manager burning some 30W oil. I think it's safe to say nobody stayed on the stage. After several tries with oil. One of the stage crew who was not there at the time said. "Why don't we get a glycerin smoke generator. Myself and 3 others went to a party store and picked one up for around 40 bucks. When we got back the stage manager was still trying to clean up what he did with the 30W. I'm glad I was working the sound and not doing much on the stage. Shakespeare will never be the same. I do love the white board. How many ideas can one guy have?? Ok now back to work. The life of a radio guy.

Writes 'Your Guess In The Comments'... Of all of the items you've shown us I have to say that number 3 was my favorite. Not because of the thing itself but because I see that the box-tape man is still happily employed by various online platforms. Although I think he does his best work on Aliexpress, lines on this one were a bit ruffled and uneven. Now, I gotta say that I expected to hear a lot of things on the channel but "I only need 50 grenades total'' was not among them. Still, the look of ''nani da heck'' that my wife gave me as she was passing by was epic. And man I am all for an excursion to South America. Only problem is that Fiscal Responsibility took one look in my wallet and said that I have enough money for a T-shirt that says Paraguay at the local Chinese department store 😁

@@tabletopalchemy Okay, I see the following. A group of WH40k players get together to plan a heist from a wealthy collector known to have some of the rarest and coolest stuff in all the land. It should take place during a major convention where he will be showing off his most prized possessions. Armed with their strategic minds, knowledge of lore, and cosplay disguises, they meticulously plan a non-violent heist coinciding with a large gaming convention in town. They hack into security systems, create diversions, and use their understanding of battle tactics the whole time facing off against a rival gang with a similar plan, but less concerned with non-violence and lead by the unscrupulous man know only as The Overseer. Now we just need to somehow convince Henry Cavil to play himself as the rich collector and we have a hit on our hands 😂

maybe once everything is said and done, and you're making money (back) you could measure it all compared to batches of 25 smoke grenades. found a good but not well known actress? maybe she costs 12 batches of 25 smoke grenades. provided enough funding for a pilot episode? could maybe afford like 50 batches of smoke grenades with that kind of money. got enough for a full season because it's a tv show for some reason? 200 batches of smoke grenades i have no idea what film things costs lol

Is there a fire risk with those smoke grenades, and will you need a permit to use them?
@tabletopalchemy
@tabletopalchemy 2 ай бұрын
I think there’s always some risk, they emit sparks for 1-2 seconds like a small firework but they’ve been widely used in paintball games and at sporting events in the stands. We will need a permit if we shoot in a natural forest but not if on private property.
