I love how people here seem to think Patrik Baboumian is somehow one of the strongest men in the world. He's not. The only Guinness World Record he holds is the heaviest yoke carry over a 10-meter distance. The yoke was 555.2 kg or 1,224 lb. There was no time requirement for the record, but it took him about twenty-eight seconds to make it the full 10 meters, which equates to about 1.17 ft/sec average rate of speed. On the other hand, the first round of the 2017 Arnold Strongman Classic had a 1,300 lb yoke. Competitors had 30 seconds to move the yoke 13 feet. Seven of the competitors moved the 1,300 lb yoke at average rates of speed greater than 1.17 ft/sec. In the second round of the 2017 Arnold Strongman Classic, the yoke weighed 1,565 lb. Only five of the competitors were able to move the yoke at least 13 feet, and the highest average rate of speed was 0.87 ft/sec. So basically Patrik Baboumian only has the Guinness record because he carried it a different distance. He carried less weight at a slower pace than the majority of the actual strongmen did. Every "record" that he set or holds has either been shattered by real strongmen or is an obscure variation of actual world records.

How tf are bee products acceptable for vegans? The way i understood it, it's vegetarians that are a spectrum with the only common principle being not eating meat, and vegans are supposed to not use any animal products at all. Honey, despite being made out of flower nectar, is clearly an animal product. It's like saying milk doesn't actually come from an animal because the cow ate grass to produce that milk

@@emden1191 I've actually met quite a few vegans as I have in the past lived in a city for many years. Some were very quiet about their dietary choice and only mentioned it to me had I offered them something containing meat or other animal products.These were quiet, polite individuals who did what they thought was right for them and never imposed their views on others, nor attempt to make others feel morally inferior. However unfortunately most of the vegans I have bumped into out and about, worked with and seen plenty online are some of the most narcissistic, unlikable people i've ever met or seen. Individuals who have zero grasp on reality or of what we are as Humans and how we evolved. Individuals who believe and tell you about how their personal life choices are above everyone elses. I could go on with more plant based obnoxious examples. Bottom line is these people annoy me to no end.

Strong man comps are what I used to watch on Sunday on ESPN 2 when that was a new thing. When he walked in I thought he was a Giant or Jet, but when we were both at the bar at the same time and I heard the accent and got a look at him it all came back to me, so I asked if he was Magnus and he smiled nodded and told me not many people recognize or know who he is, so I bought him a beer and he gave me an autograph.

It's a way to gain an advantage, if you're presented to the world as being 5'10 with 65' reach your opponent will spar against 5'10 people with 65' reach to get a feel for your range. Then they step into the octagon and discover you're shorter with longer arms and their sparring practice is less useful. So the idea of a "strongman" not even being able to pull 700lbs makes ZERO sense to me. I feel like had I weighed 220lbs and was just as jacked I could have deadlifted 700lbs pretty easily. Actually he became a vegetarian 2005, after his bodybuilding achievements. And he competes in a german national strongmen competition. They are basicly on point. Sorry. Meat is just senare in nutrition and gives an advantage; but as a vegan strongman, he isnt bad. The vegans try to make it sound like it is better. Only ethically as long as people do not eat grassfed pasturized animals etc.
@cloudoftime
@cloudoftime 4 жыл бұрын
@@MrPerfume1979 So many incorrect points here. His bodybuilding accolades aren't being questioned. He is a powerlifter/strongman competitor. And as such, "2011 Baboumian competed at the loglifting world championship and placed 4th with a new German *overall-record* of 185 kg. On 21 May *2011* he lifted 190 kg in Turku, Finland winning the local competition. 2011 Baboumian also won the title of "Germany's Strongest Man" by winning the open division at the German strongman nationals. On September 20, *2015*, Baboumian beat his own world record by completing the yoke walk with 560 kg in Kitzcher, Germany." He beat his own world record for yoke walk in 2015. He is also currently 40 years old. They are not on point, and saying "he isn't bad" is an understatement to put it mildly. And something people fail to consider when comparing vegan athletes vs all other athletes, is that vegans make up a very very small percentage of the population, so you aren't getting the benefit of the pool of genetics to pull from, which is a huge factor. That being considered, it's actually really impressive that you see vegan athletes at the top of any athletic categories, if someone wants to claim that veganism is inferior. Veganism is better. Is it easier to be "world's strongest man" by eating meat? I'm sure. You can put a lot of things in your body that will give you an advantage in some certain athletic area, but that doesn't make it a good thing to do. And you sound like you don't understand anything about vegan ethics. First of all, the animals aren't "pasteurized", they are pasture-raised. They still end up going to feed lots, and then getting slaughtered. It is extremely difficult to find completely pasture-raised and pasture finished animals. And without necessity, this is not an ethical thing to do. Also factory farmed animals represent upwards of 97% of the animals consumed in the world. When comparing the best meat containing diet (which would be a very very small amount of meat), with the best vegan diet, vegan diet is equal if not better than diet containing meat, and I only say "equal if not better", because nutrition isn't a concluded field of scientific investigation, and it depends on what your goals are. All the evidence we have so far is that veganism outperforms an omnivore diet, and is many times better than common omnivore diets. There are so many components of meat, which lead to adverse health outcomes. Veganism is ethically far superior, environmentally far superior, and nutritionally better in so many areas, while being equivalent in other areas.

This guy is doing a service convincing people to not become vegan, and there are studies linking vegan diets to low IQ. www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1790759/ It is not nasty to point out the problems with an otherwise ridiculous and harmful diet being pushed on people for the sake of virtue signalling. The next year, he set a new German heavyweight log lifting record with 180 kg. In 2011, Baboumian competed at the loglifting world championship and placed 4th with a new German overall record of 185 kg. On 21 May 2011, he lifted 190 kg in Finland, winning the local competition. He Baboumian also won the title of "Germany's Strongest Man" in 2011 by winning the open division at the German strongman nationals. On September 20, 2015, Baboumian beat his own record by completing the yoke walk with 560 kg in Germany.[3] Robert Oberst is trying to say he hasn't heard of him. He has! Thing about the USA is that it has the population and wealth required to get strong men. You're not going to see Congolese or Namibian strong men because the countries have such small populations along with generally poor wealth. If Iceland had any good strongmen it would be quite impressive considering how small the country's population is (although they do have high wealth).
