From my understanding, I am an INTP. The only philosophy that has been effective in my life is stoicism. Also, a little out of high school, my father kicked me out of the house. INTP here. I also know C.S. Joseph. His analysis of INTP is interesting. Watching him helped me. After, I'm into a Ti-Fi loop: I'm my own source of worth now. I delayed my character building for a too long time, so I have to become much stronger than I am in a time as short as possible, so I'm focusing only on my own issues. I guess the Fe is my curse, but I have to deal with it (because people can't disappear). If I become strong enough, I don't know if I will want to help any tribe. Edit:I'm an INTJ now. I don't know if I changed of type because of life or if my original personality was an INTJ and I changed of personality because of mental health issues).

Oof, I struggle with this one a lot. I will get super confident and really feel like I have something of value to help with a situation, but both at home (my wife is an ESTP) and at work (I work with a lot os ST types), after I present my ideas the reaction is often crushing. I feel empowered by digging deep, getting to the fundamentals and building up a logical path from there to solutions but it is received as a disruptive burden. While I am excited to hear feedback from other perspectives I am often met with a sense that I am being disloyal to the team and its power structure. What gets me through it is dedication to the truth and the patience to allow the bigger picture to present itself but that can take years. It can be a long uphill path but as issues present themselves I often have solutions on hand. "I told you so" feels gross to me but I will dutifully present my solutions again and a little more of it will click into place. Often members of the group don't even remember the earlier presentations because I believe it felt so abstract from the immediate situation that they drove it from their mind in order to enact a band-aid solution so they could mark it off of the to-do list. I have to remind myself that while I appreciate what others bring to the table I can't expect that in return because NTPs are a tiny minority and groups are reassured by like minded team mates. Well that's enough hijacking and whining. Felt good to express this, maybe others can relate.

I know this Hero, Parent, etc thing is a thing in some typology circles, but given that functions don't actually order themselves in that way (based on tests that measure the 8 functions independently) I'm fairly unsure of the validity of that construct. In fact, I'm pretty sure it is not very valid at all. Being an INTP seems to actually just mean that your top function is Ti, and of your extraverted perceiving functions, Ne is higher than Se.

These 16 personality types are really who you are at your core but time place and circumstance can definitely shape who you become. I’m middle-aged now and have always felt like a fly on the wall. I always wanted to blend into the wallpaper and not stand out, but I wanted to belong. I spent a lot of my time being concerned that I needed to wear something so that I would fit in but then I felt like I was wearing a costume of someone who fit in but I did not fit in. I think the benefit of personal growth and age, gives you a very different sense of self. a young INTP is going to present very differently based on where they come from and their parental connections. An adolescent INTP will do the same. If you lived on a farm and were an INT P. Then perhaps you would be the best farmer, and would be the Gregor Mendel of your county. If you lived in a big city and had little access to higher education, then you might be perceived as some kind of weirdo Who needed to be beat up. We all grow and change based on our personal experiences and I don’t think therapy is ever a bad idea for any person ever.(as long as you have a reputable therapist who is not trying to use cultish or faith based brainwashing.) even extroverts have existential crisis about being frauds or not having friends are true friends. Use any opportunity you with an impartial third-party to explore your personal desires. Your family will always tell you what you should do and people around. You will tell you what they want you to do but you need to know what you want. If you are an I, truly, you will find what you want to do and you will find your people and you will be content. Postscript… Always subject to change.

Jordan Peterson is NOT an INTP. No way. INFJ would be more accurate, bordering on ENFJ. He's too empathetic and hard working to be T or P. On the fence about I as well, he might be more E, but certainly N.

@@EgoHackersThat's because I use the Big 5 and not the outdated Myer's Briggs that no actually social scientist actually uses. T/F maps onto agreeableness J/P maps onto conscientiousness. Peterson is both agreeable and concientious, hence both an F and a J. He's not a basement dwelling sitting on the couch thinking INTP. You're just wrong buddy. Even Peterson has explained that MBTI is outdated and should be replaced with the Big 5 model.

@@bertonspat129 He is, and has stated multiple times that he is. And it makes sense for the career path he's chosen. He's only disagreeable because he's courageously fighting back against woke moralists who want to silence him and others for speaking their mind. He's going against his natural temperament because in his view the consequences of not doing it outweigh what his natural temperament would prefer.

Completely agree about Peterson. xNFJ, almost certainly INFJ. VERY high Fe, which is the focus of his entire life's work. VERY high Ni, far more linear and focused than Ne. Ni-Ti is how he tackles most scenarios. Se pops up mostly in his art collection, which he uses to keep himself grounded. "He's not a basement dwelling sitting on the couch thinking INTP." Okay, that bit was a little hurtful. Much to my regret, my house doesn't HAVE a basement... -- Middle-aged INTP 🥸

I disagree with the purpose of Ne parent. It exists to make us the greatest creators and deliverers of deadpan humor and understudies for Weird Al as puns and twisted interpretations of what someone says to us come naturally. Likewise, Si exists solely to store all music lyrics we're ever heard and to give us an edge over all other types in Trivia Pursuit.

P type introverts are a judgement lead. See Socionics for details of how they tried to fix that problem with MBTI. But also use cognitive functions, origins, and Octagram, far easier and accurate.

Nonon you don't need to have *ACCURATE* or *GOOD* logic to be an INTP, you just need to have the *INCLINATION* towards it. My own observation of JP is that he tends to see his own deep knowledge about subject matter and all the connections in his memories drawing parallels as evidence of those connections existing in the real world, e.g. common concepts in religion and mythology and psychology. These connections once drawn is then followed up with sound logic *if they were real connections* but he doesn't spot that it's connections in his own mind he is finding. The more learned a person the more susceptible they are to delusion almost like with sects. Which is why sect leaders have some similarities to intelligent people that lead others to see them as authoritative.

As an INTP, I would say we can't change we are, we can just fall or thrive. What worked for me was the Ti-Fi loop:being logical, but also being my own source of worth. Now I know what I want, so I can work on that goal.

That's a simplistic view of types. Any type can create havoc. First, do they themselves believe they are creating havoc? Second, life experiences can lead you to have different motives than others of your type.
