When starting the ketogenic way of eating you are often left wondering if you are fat-adapted yet, or not. There are signs your body will give you as it is becoming fat-adapted, and here they are.
You don't have to waste $ on meters and strips, which can mislead, just listen to your body and the hints it gives you. Burning fat is a natural thing for your body to do, just trust the process and you will soon be fat-adapted.

PLEASE HELP!!!, I’m wondering, do I have to be in ketosis constantly to become fat adapted or as long as I stay low carb I will get there? I had a sleep eat episode and it kicked me out of ketosis for a few days (I can be sure exactly what I ate but from what was left out it was a mixture or carbs and sugars! ( I no longer keep them in the house)) I was 4 weeks into starting keto! Will I now have to start again in regatta becoming fat adapted, I’m now 8 weeks in and definitely not fat adapted as I’m still craving and lack of energy ect so wondering if I’ve restarted?

I’m almost 67 years old and have no thyroid. I was on Keto 2 months before letting someone talk me out of it. I had labs done 2 weeks after stopping Keto. I lost 25 lbs, I’m producing hormones, my blood glucose is improving. My dr thought I was doing hormone therapy! She demanded I get back on Keto!!! I am as of today and I already feel better. I told my dr about your free videos. She’s going to recommend you for beginners.

Don't you just hate it when people think you shouldn't do Keto yet your body shows that it should. Having to defend your ideas as to what works can be tiresome. I had friends too that said to be careful doing Keto yet they knew nothing about Keto !!! It amazes me. lol. Glad that you went back on it. Also Fantastic that YOU have educated Your own Doctor !!! So now the chain begins as your Doctor will educate other Doctors. Win Win !!

A relative just texted me today telling me instead of Keto, I need to be on the Mediterranean diet. I don't know why people don't understand that diets don't work the same for everyone. I am diabetic and have no thyroid. Yet Keto works for me. It has repaired the cortisol issues I have had for 3 years and it is normal now. You'd think someone would be happy for me. My support system is pretty much non-existent. If I do something, anything really, I do it alone. I shouldn't let it bother me or be surprised.

Eat when I am hungry at least one meal a day maybe two. I feel so much better and have dropped from a 44 waist to now size 38. All of the 2xl clothes are gone and waiting for the XL to get baggy. I periodically do a reset when I catch myself slipping. When i do a 3 day fast it's not for the physical benefits it's for the mental benefit. During the week I do coffee in the morning, water water water during the day and then a keto friendly dinner. I keep things like hard boiled eggs, bacon jerky and pepperoni jerky at work when they have like cupcakes and donuts all that sweet stuff 3 feet from my desk.

You put my mind at ease! I've been doing this for a few months but one day a week I eat carbs and zero fat for one meal. For the first time I've gone strict for 3 weeks and yesterday woke up with zero foot and finger pain that I've had for years believing it to be arthritis. Then last night I woke from an amazing deep sleep at 1am, slightly urinating like a tinkle. All day today I've been urinating every 2 hours. Scared me but I feel awesome. I'm not hungry. I'll monitor but this video helped.

I’ll admit that I was terrified of having to go on Keto (my liver specialist enthusiastically suggested it) because of what was told by doctors 30+ years ago; that you need low-fat everything and that too much fat and meat-eating will clog your arteries. I’ve only been Keto for a short while and already notice insane improvements! I’m a type 2 diabetic and my blood sugars have been insanely high no matter what I did. On average, they would be around 230 in the morning and almost 500 two hours after eating. Also found out I’m insulin-resistant and have a non-alcoholic fatty liver. First Endocrynologist said I needed to eat 60g of carbs PER MEAL! I felt insanely worse and sought out another Endocrynologist who got me on the right track. Not only do I have more energy with Keto, but my blood sugars are within normal range! What’s crazy is that it happened almost immediately. Insane. Thank you for all the hard work and the information you share with your videos, Dr. Berry! 🙏

My husband had a fun time duscussing his new lab results with his M.D. in barely over 2 months his A1C droped from 10.8 to 7 along with a whole bunch of other improvements. A 30 lb weightloss and reducing his insulin by 2/3 was another. SO.. Guess what his Dr. Told him...almost insisting, "Make sure you reward yourself with a little ice cream. Enjoy life" ... (???) I am wondering if keto WOE is cutting into their profits (?)

Liked and subscribed, thanks for the video Doc. I think I had all these tell tale signs in about the first two weeks. The clarity alone is worth not eating heavy carbs. I've shed 50lbs so far and I'm on my way to 30 more. I fast daily as well and I never have hunger. I did see my fasting glucose readings go down pretty low in those first two weeks, at one point it got to 40mg. I added an occasional salad every other day at dinner time and now the lowest it goes is about 70mg with averages around 80mg. My highest reading for about the past month is 92 and that's an hour after eating (LCHF of course). I "was" Type2 but no longer!

Great video Ken Berry, I like that you are creating videos that aren't directed to a masive sales pitch for Keto products! People on a low budget need to know how to follow a Keto way of living without worrying that they don't have the latest and most expensive products available, that would only demoralise them, if they were taught Ketosis isn't possible without the gadgets.

U all guys have to be fat adapted first, i mean teach the body to prefer ketones than glucose then you can drastically Change your macros, more carbs less fat and you dont have to be in ketosis all your life, carb ciclying is the best way and doing intermittent fasting is the KEY here, but you prefer to stay keto adapted than staying in ketosis because carbs retain all your minerals and electrolytes that you are flushing out on keto the most important is pottasium, but I think if you want to be come a superhuman I think 3 weeks of keto 70 25 5 long walks and if you want to run then run! and taking care of your electrolytes then if you feel weak, tired or with lethargy because staying in keto all your life is not convenient, you can add more carbs but less tha 100 is convenient for all of us, giving minerals to the body and retaining THEM with healthy carbs (prefer Brown rice and sweet potatoe or potatoe) then you maybe kicked out of ketosis but your body will use ketones as a fuel because you are already fat adapted and you will feel it 😏the key is being FAT ADAPTED 🥑🥔🥩🍗🍖🥬🥦🥑🧂🍵☕🍤🍳🥗

Having been in and out of keto a few times over the years, I've learned the #1 way of determining if you are fat adapted...see how long you can hold your breath. If you can suddenly hold your breath twice as long as you have ever been able to, your metabolism has fully fat-adapted, and is now using, and requiring, less oxygen.

I've been on this path (keto and intermittent fasting) for the last 6 months and I can tell you I'm still learning. To kick things off I started with a 4 day fast. For me that was very helpful because it help me reset a lot of habits. One of my mistakes was to let my electrolytes get depleted. That would leave me feeling tired and mentally cloudy and would hinder weight loss. I'm discovering it's bit of a double-edged sword at the moment. When I get everything right I feel like I've developed superpowers. Unfortunately foods that don't agree with me and cause inflammation are becoming brutal. Tension, anxiety and joint inflammation is what happens. I was 295 lbs now I'm 230. I would suggest you start the day with black coffee no sugar and just drink water. if you're going for the one meal a day protocol which I can assure you is very effective. You will need to replace some salt in your body during the day. I personally have a small bottle of some very salty liquid (back olive brine) which I occasionally sip on. Anyways good luck.

Hello Dr Berry and thank you. I began my keto journey a little over a year ago and you were a big part of that. Because of your advice I 'just got on with it'. I stopped counting calories (it has never worked for me) and ate ketogenic food when I was hungry (until I wasn't hungry anymore). I have lost just over 90 lbs and 12 inches from my waist (I am no longer clinically obese). My mental clarity has improved, my joint pain has gone, I have almost no migraines and I feel like a new man. The work you do here is so important. I have no idea how many lives you have saved this way. You are a scholar and a gentleman, a true healer. After decades of being bullied and failed by the medical establishment in the UK I am finally made whole. Thank you so much.
