Just saw it tonight and I had a blast! Yes it does go over the top near the end, but once you realize that, it works so well. The dance Kristian talked about and the skate right after are two of the most creative and visually striking scenes I've seen. It was awesome to see something new out of an action movie. If people go into it expecting a cheesy and fun action movie, then I think most will enjoy it.

I went and saw Argyle and I actually enjoyed it. I get people's gripes with it though especially the length but I had fun. My favorite performances were Sam Rockwell and Catherine O"hara. Also was good to see Henry Cavill and John Cena on screen together which I felt was a nice wink for DC fans.

The crazy thing about this film for me is that I first heard about Argylle in 2022 I think, when it was an article I read about a new spy book coming out, that people were excited about and were saying it was hoping to be a book series, and could be the best since Bond and that the film rights to book one had already been bought. I was really excited for it. Then, when it started to be apparent that the book is basically just an extension to the film PR and that stuff was all just film PR spin, I lost interest. I did hope the film would at least be good, but most people are disappointed.

Dudes get action, chicks extra cheesy-ass spy-romance, both get a chuckle or two, it's... Fine. 25 min.'s to long tho.

Its definetly way too long but its a certified fun time if you go in with the right mindset. The cast is likeable,the director does a great job and the action scenes are creative. Its not on the level of kingsman and it probably wont be remembered in a couple years but as of today its a good watch if youre into a campy, non realistic action comedies.

I was really expecting a tone similar to The Man From U.N.C.L.E. (film) or Operation Fortune: Ruse De Guerre, but it was more like Keanu or American Ultra. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing. I was still pleasantly surprised with what we got. It reminded me a lot of Gringo (2018 film), where I was expecting way more than I what I actually received..

This was such a fun movie! Just saw it tonight. It could've been a bit shorter, yeah. The tone seemed the same to me. Maybe I'm crazy? I usually agree with Kristian but the parts here (smoke screen scene) that seem ridiculous here made sense. That over the top didn't work for me in the Kingsman. Here (that scene) was in her head. Not what was actually happening. So all the over the top (Argyle or in her head) scenes made sense here. Great action. I do agree with Kristian I didn't love it but I really liked it! I wanna bring a date to see it. Seems like a great date movie.

Hi Kristian. Started watching you for the Dune 2 reviews and discussions. Ever since I learned about the evil of the world and Hollywood, I have been turned off from movies for which I had been a huge fan. Love Cavill and Matthew Vaughn and all the really good guys. Hearing you review this movie (which I haven't seen, yet) and you saying that you have seen lots of movies and the problems you had with Argylle. My point is that I stopped watching movies for many years (after Disney destroyed Star Wars) so that, for me, I will not be as jaded as you seem to be when I watch Argylle. Thanks for keeping it honest.

I agree with you 100%. It’s a mixed bag of a movie. Has a lot of fun and entertaining moments especially in the first half. But as it kept going it gradually started to lose me more and more. And the twists…yea there were some that were cool, but there were others that were just stupid.

They had me the first two acts, I was enjoying it and having a fun time, but then the third act lost me. And the post credit scene was confusing, but I was already done so I didn't even care.

@@davidmckesey7119 Sadly I had the opposite experience, I thought it was near terrible and the visual effects are so bad and cheap looking. I really wanted to love it since I love his films, but now I'm shocked this was even made tbh.

I had the exact same feeling as you. It was way too long. Tone was inconsistent. The stunts and the cast was fine but a little too silly. And if they're really going for what's in the mid credits scene, I hope the tone gets fixed beforehand.

I completely agree. It has a great cast, intriguing story that didn’t really pan out. It is too long. Bryce Dallas Howard was miscast, she really bothered me and I never bought in to her character. I get what they were going for but it didn’t hit, it’s a spy comedy but it’s stuck somewhere between Austin Powers and Mission Impossible

From what ive gathere3d from other reviews, 90% of the films failures lied in the writing and just a pretty bad, lazy screenplay. I heard the stuntwork is great and the acting is fair so I will probably give them my matinee money but not the extra $4 for Nighttime showing, lol. Thanks for review, just subbed!

Wanted to love it, trailer sold me hard. Wish we got more Cavill & Cena, I’m sure I’m not the only one. Those couple of specific scenes near the end ⛸️🔪 were so bad I honestly couldn’t believe what I was seeing.

Not for me, sadly fell asleep during the final 40 minutes or so. Cant recommend it to anyone unless you have a free pass and don’t have to pay for it. Mathew Vaughn’s style used to be something I enjoyed, but now I’m realizing it’s become the opposite as I’ve gotten older (1st Kingsmen was fun for me because I was 12 when I saw that). Also the trailers for this film border on legal fraud, Henry Cavill (without giving any direct plot spoilers) isn’t nearly in the film as much as the promotional materials make it seem. I may seem really harsh on this one, but just know that’s it’s been years since I actually fell asleep in a movie theatre and this was a film I genuinely looked forward to. Anyways to each his own, hope others can enjoy it more than myself.

I didn't really enjoy the movie because I was expecting to see a lot more of Henry Cavill, John Cena, and Dua Lipa. They were used in the movie for about 5min. I am a little disappointed. The movie went a little over the top and some scenes were enjoyable but the movie did not meet my expectations.

The dialogue was very boring especially the Sam Rockwell character. And the action is very CG or just uninspiring - even the Henry Cavill stuff. Need better dialogue and stunt coordinator. The stylized violence in the first Kingsman was fun, but now, it lack any fun, just silly.

Kristian, I'm with you almost completely. The chemistry between Sam Rockwell and Bryce Dallas Howard didn’t work for me all the way. Did you see the mid credits scene, by the way? Also, because of you wnd Brett, I can only refer to Dua Lipa as Dupa Lipa for probably the rest of my life. 😄

I enjoyed it until the dancing smoke grenade scene. I stopped smiling and enjoying it from there on. My wife finished the movie while I did the dishes. Yes too ridiculous for no added benefit. Also Dallas fighting was rough choreography and could have been much better. But I really enjoyed the first half of the movie.

Every review I've seen of this movie has been middle of the road, although Chris Stuckman seemed to like more than you, Rocha, and Jeremy Jahns did. I think I'll end up enjoying it more than you guys overall, but the CGI and green/blue screen is very noticeable from what I can tell, so that might be an issue for me. I don't care about tone shifts or how long it is, though.

this movie should have been burned at the rate it wastes talent. The creatives here could take a cue from bollywood when it comes to a multi-genre narrative like argylle. Theyre cringe too but the commercial art style is more controlled.
