Ariel Atom 4 - public's reactions - part 1

I've had my Atom 4 for a short 3 months and thought it would be funny to share these clips of peoples reactions towards the car. I got the idea from this video: • Video
In 3 months I have:
- Been approached by a couple friendly drinkers outside of McDonalds
- Stopped by the police
- Had bikers check the car out
- Had a kid almost climb in it
- Apparently the car is "sick" as referred to by a young chap
- ... and many more.
So far I have not had any bad experiences from people (apart from being stopped by the police of course) everyone just loves it, which is great.

Great vid. Many years ago I bought a new Ducati and on day 1, rode it to a restaurant. Between courses, I just had to check out my baby so wandered out to see a 40-something yr old guy sitting on my bike. He said he once had one in South Africa and I politely asked him to get off it which caused him surprise (??!!). My next bike was a new CBR1100XX and I rode that with friends to a café for breakfast. I turned around to see a dad with young kids sitting them on my bike. I was quick to alert him to a. it's not a toy and b. the pipes were very hot. Some people are none too bright I think! Yes, it could of been pretty bad with milkshake on the harness - imagine getting the smell of mouldy milk out of them!

Kid reaches into the car...there are proximity alarms that protect convertibles that would make him jump back. It’s not worth it to leave an unprotected car that’s this valuable out. Too many douches out there. My 964 was stolen and I miss it badly. Protect your assets.

Build a clone or an exocet and stop dreaming 🤘🏽 they’re the most fun you can have on 4 wheels. The smoking tire drove an exocet and the reviewer loved it.

Thanks. They said I had no front plate and illegal rear plate (illegal spacing). Pretty much all custom number plates in the UK have illegal spacing and never get pulled.

@@sl0w_racer get yourself some Zero plates from Fourdot, they’re the smallest legal ones you can get. They’re £75 for the pleasure though... Never had any issues even at MOT time too.

Does ariel atom 4 has sequential gearbox already?

Yes you may option it. It is a quaife 6 speed pneumatically activated gearkit.

@@antonsikstrom7239 Yes, the sequential box is epic. It suits the track better though. On the road the manual I think will be better/easier

I’ve just bought a new Atom 4 so found this video very interesting. I’m wondering if it will turn more heads than my 600LT Spider. I’m looking forward to my first track day in it and to see how the standard brakes cope. I didn’t spec the car new but its just been built and allowed my to skip the 3 year wait. I’ll make any decisions on upgrading brakes etc once I’ve spent some time on track.

Congrats on your new car James! Where are you based? You definitely want the AP racing brakes with the hard Ferodo pads but see how you get on, depends on how you drive too so sounds like a sensible decision to try on track first. I do this a lot, try the car first before spending money. I did it with the power upgrade, adjustable map, aero, brakes etc. etc.

@@sl0w_racer I’m in Dundee, Scotland. Ideal place for a car with no roof or windscreen. I bought the Atom from Collecting Cars auction site. New and unregistered with a spec i liked but wasn’t quite perfect for me but it did allow me to get my hands on one without the 3 year wait. If I’d ordered new I’d have added the AP brakes, adjustable traction and maybe the upgraded dampers. I can add the brakes and dampers at a later date if i need them so that suits me. I’m very smooth on track but didn’t want to punish my 600LT Spider anymore. I love that car and want to show it some TLC. I do have a 718 Spyder PDK on order which should have arrived this year but has been delayed to 2022 and i would have taken this on track. I’ve always wanted an Atom and getting my hands on this one without the wait was fabulous. I’ll watch all your videos with great interest and hopefully be able to have a drive in mine if it is transported up later this week and can have it registered as well.

@@JBthemanwithcars Very nice the 600LT, and very quick. You should find the Atom on similar pace you just have to work a bit more :) You don't need traction control in my view if you are used to high-powered cars. The boost adjuster is quite handy for doing cooling down laps - to cool the turbo or to let friends drive it on track. What tyres have you got with it? given you are a track driver, you probably want the more aggressive track geo setup as well. What shocks have you got with it?

@@sl0w_racer I’ve not had my McLaren on track with Trofeo R tyres yet just the awful standard P Zero’s, which are crap. After 6 laps they are mush. I drive it with the traction off as it’s too intrusive for the track. I believe my Atom is on the Avon tyre set up with standard dampers. I’m happy to do the first track day then o at the winter look at some minor upgrades. Brakes and dampers are the main area and I’ll look into tyres next. Im hoping to have it delivered at the end of the week but nothing confirmed yet. I’ll need to sort insurance out. My McLaren is with Zurich Private Clients which allows my 3 track days a year so I’ll try them first. Any info re set up etc for my new toy is very welcome.

@@JBthemanwithcars Which Avon tyres? Ariel tend to fit either zzs (wet or road tyre) or the zzr - the track hard tyre. The Yokohama a052's are 100 times better than the zzr's imo but the wear rate is not great - but you can't have everything! Ask Ariel to do the geo setup for you for the track

@@RJ-bb4xn Great! you certainly won't miss us, it stands out quite a bit. The video filmed in the car park with the chaps holding beer was at the McDonalds on Boundary Road near B&Q.
