Hi guys. Really enjoyed your chat today. I first visited Norway in 1956 to visit my Norwegian pen pal and we went to her hytte by boat.,which to a 14 year old English country girl was so exciting. My friend and I are still visiting each other and we are now 78years old!!!!.

I about fell of the couch laughing when Arne said “it was very hard for the mother”. He and I have a similar sense of humor. I have blessed to have visited Norway twice. In 2019 I was so lucky to be able to drive and stay in Lofoten for a night. Love watching your trip as it brings back memories and I learned so much. If I could drop everything and move to Norway it would happen!

@@carrielovesfanta probably! And there is the german word Hütte, which is a hut. A friend of mine, bilingual in german and english learned norwegian and was crazily happy, she said norwegian was like the missing link between german and english :-) Well, they're germanic languages and I wonder what one would say learning german, when already speaking english and norwegian.

We live in lake cabin country in northern Minnesota. There are approximately 124,000 seasonal cabins in our state of 5 and a half million people. We experience the same exodus from the cities to the cabin country as you do. On Friday, all the traffic is headed north, it is peaceful and quiet here all winter, but once the seasonal cabin residents come back, it will be chaos. :) We too feel privileged to be able to live full-time in this natural paradise.

Dear Arne & Carlos ; just love how you give a a history lesson on your culture , Thank you so much , Easter in Cleveland Ohio is so different we got our new matching outfits and we went to church had ham and potato salad and veggie . When I was small we use to get a real rabbit and duck and easter basket filled with chocolates and toys and candy and then as the animals grew up we would give them to a farm . Yours sound really nice.

Very interesting to learn about the use of cabins - originally for seasonal work and then later for leisure.

So many coincidences! I am planting garden vegetables indoors today. I also had a video doctor’s visit in my yoga pants! Living in the woods along a river is very interesting for nature watching this time of year. Our wood ducks came back to nest and I saw them this morning. Spring is so full of promise!

You brought up a memory for me. We had a farm when I was a child, and we had to get up extremely early to milk the cows while my mom made a hearty breakfast. I was too young to do too much, but I loved to hang out with my dad while he and my brothers milked the cows. Afterward, I would go out into the field with the cows, who were my favorites. By the time we got our milking machines, I wasn't hanging around in the barn that much. I had forgotten how life was on the farm. I loved my childhood!
