Hey Hersovyac!, Ive been training calisthenics at home for about 2 years now and I've bulked up and built a good physique im proud of, Im 15, but my strength sucks and my lifts arent that heavy. If i join the gym in the future does this mean Ive wasted my years and progress will be slower than just starting at that time? Hope this made sense.

3:26 Would it not be better to have the deadlifts earlier in the workout since they're a fatiguing compound?
@silber11
@silber11 Жыл бұрын
I think in old school full body thats kinda the point, putting deadlifts first would suck your whole energy making the rest of the work really hard fatigue wise Sacrificing deadlift performance for a better session in general i think
@Hersovyac
@Hersovyac Жыл бұрын
Exactly man.
@Hersovyac
@Hersovyac Жыл бұрын
At the time beginning your training with squat was considered mandatory as it was believed to be a huge booster afterward to wake the nerves and hormones. Science kinda confirmed it. But deadlift first in training would obliterate you on the systemic fatigue aspect. Hence why it’s last. Same reason many later athletes like Dorian Yates would do a lots of rows and pulls finishing with deadlift and not the reverse. The ratio muscle stimulus/fatigue of that exercise is not that good hence the low volume, end training position.

@@Hersovyac I was referring to the beginner routine on your channel which is 3 days a week. Following that program now. 3 big lifts a day at 5 sets, and some arm work and calisthnics on the other. Struggling to add more isolation there. But I decided it's important because I've never achieved these strength standards before. I would do upper/lower 3 days a week (and do the 4th day on the next week and rotate like that), since I can only manage 3 days a week at the moment. But that would mean a halfing on my frequency per muscle group. But my upper body muscles can still easily take higher frequence and recover better. It feels like I need to train legs 1 or 2 times a week, but upper body 3 times. Programming is hard.

Is it smart to look at enhanced bodybuilders for advice on how to get big? Arnold was roided out since he started training, probably in his late teens.
@Hersovyac
@Hersovyac Жыл бұрын
Arnold didnt touch roids before being 17-18 years old. Even still, where do you think we got the golden era split and the 2xPPL ?
@naughtiousmaximus7853
@naughtiousmaximus7853 Жыл бұрын
@@Hersovyac Thats exactly what I said about his age. Sure, he was also popular for his split, which even has a name after him, but people were big even before he appeared, people like Steve Reeves for example who trained full body, so shouldn't he be regarded as WAY more credible on the topic of bodybuilding than someone like Arnold? They were blasting steroids like crazy.
@Hersovyac
@Hersovyac Жыл бұрын
Depends, Arnold learned most of his stuff from mags, then army, then Charles Bennett, then Reg Park (who himself trained and talked with Reeves during the 50’s) and later from Gironda and Weider (both trained and went were Reeves, Park, Eiferman, Lalanne and many others) went to train and chill. What goes around comes around. Discarding Arnold training that was made by legends and champs of the time is a mistake in my book. Whatever how much Dianabol and Primobolan he popped later on.
@pulaskiatnight_
@pulaskiatnight_ Жыл бұрын
@@naughtiousmaximus7853 while the rate of growth and overall difficulty of developing his physique might have been aided by the roids it's not like enhanced athletes' muscles respond differently at a fundamental level. Certain movements still develop specific muscle groups, and different weights encourage different kinds of growth. I don't think the drugs would discredit his entire training practice if your goal to develop your physique as a natural into similar proportions and to mimic a similar shape as what Arnold trained
@naughtiousmaximus7853
@naughtiousmaximus7853 Жыл бұрын
@@pulaskiatnight_ I completely disagree. Steroids are 90% of work, this is why people such as Bald Omni Man for example are important because they set realistic expectations and training goals and programs that actually make sense for 99% of us who just want to be generally big. Why would I listen to advice of someone who pins his butt with tren and gets more gains in 2 months than natty does in a year?
