Almost all wild rice contains trace amounts of arsenic and heavy metals. You are not guaranteed to avoid heavy metals by specifically eating wild rice. Anything that grows in the ground can contain arsenic, cadmium and heavy metals. It depends on the soil contamination.

You know what I don't get?? How is it.. that "Organic" , "Grass Fed" and/or "Free-Range" foods, are so much more expensive? Is it because the Produce has a shorter shelf life and the Farmers set the prices, to offset any Loss.. or is it simply paying more, for 'fresher' goods? Don't Pesticides cost more in production and labor? Wouldn't the turnover be quicker, instead of a 'lengthy' "sell by" date? A person can say; "Well.. you're paying for quality".. But.. shouldn't quality be THEE standard, in the FIRST place? When did it become okay, to start charging MORE, for a basic RIGHT?.. For FOOD?

Where does the metals come from? There's not a lot of people having health problems from eating rice and those Asians across the world eat more rice than most Americans. Rice isn't bad it's our portions that is way more than what Asians eat and our lifestyle is not as lean as it should be. Asian eat a lot of greens, bitter melons, sweet potatoes and fish.

Maybe you know I don’t know the history behind it, in the center-south of United States, they used to spray cotton fields with arsenic pesticides. The residue is getting into the Rice. Arsenic is unavoidable. It's naturally in the soil. It's not exposure of these things, but the amount of exposure. Once read a comment that arsenic should never be in the human body. Fact: Our bodies produce tiny amounts of arsenic Turns out. It's required for us to live.

There's a preferred cooking method involving rinsing first but then draining your cooking water after a time and running fresh water to finish the cooking process. Supposed to dramatically reduce the arsenic.
