ARSLANBEK MAKHMUDOV TO FACE JUNIOR FA IN RING RETURN

Both Arslanbek Makhmudov and Junior Fa will look to shake off losses in Saudi Arabia when they face each other in Canada on 25 May as the co-main event of an EOTTM card. These two do have history, with Fa winning in the amateurs but Makhmudov goes into the fight in the pros as the favourite in my mind.

Yes, nice to see this fight anouncement. Saw it earlier today. Also saw Frank Sanchez vs Agit Kabayel anounced on the Fury Usyk undercard. And Hughie Fury finally got the opponent anouncement Dovbyshenko.

Fa took some serious punishment in his last few fights, including brutal knockdowns and KOs against Lucas Browne and Frank Sanchez

To be fair Fa had 2 weeks notice for the sanchez fight coming off over a year layoff and did alright. After the lost he's been in the gym everyday it seems. I think itll be very even fight until something big lands on Fa

Now that we have seen how vulnerable Makhmudov is and how Kabayel has highlighted his limitations, I am curious to see how he will react and also to see how his opponents will box who will inevitably fear him less. Against Kabayel, he seemed particularly vulnerable to body shots. Instead of Junior Fa, this is what I would try to target.

Fa punch resistance is worrying seems to get these uncontrollable fits when hurt if this happens again against Makhmudov his team should really think about his health and where he goes from here.

@@cascade3769 his team sat him down and had the tuff chat I suppose him retiring is the right call skimmed through an interview as to why he called it quits he stated a bunch of factors other than the obvious, but I think behind closed doors he and his team knew his time is up or stay in the sport to please fans that dont care about your well being and end up seriously hurt for the rest of his life or even dead.

I think Fa has more drive now than ever judging by his social media. I think he will do better than what people expect but unfortunately i think he will get stopped.

Good fight!! I think Makhmudov Will take some psychological damage being so outclassed. Interesting to see how it goes!! I just hope Kabayel Will fight more than one a year!!

Mak should win this easily and he needs a confidence builder so it’s good matchmaking from his team. However Fa may be motivated from seeing what kabayel did so he could come out swinging and that might get interesting. I was a mak fan before that defeat but now I’m not sure about him - his fear bubble has definitely burst. Should be fun fight while it lasts

Should be Efe vs mak. Fa should be fighting Dempsy or huni or brown or Dave Allen or moses or fisher. He is actually a good opponent for a lot of people…

Touch match for Fa as it looks like he'll struggle to handle this level of power. I like Huni or Demsey McKean vs either of these guys. A 50/50 vs AM and not enough power to cancel Fa. Fa could have a career as a gatekeeper to the top 35/40 if he wants that ? Makhmadov may get to the level of a Martin Bakole, a top 15 fighter. Rough but flawed. Maybe AM can get the winner of Bakole vs Chaney if that's still happening ?

thats why i rate kabayel now? going into the fight no -one gave kabayel a chance? but kabayel looked so relaxed in there? he never rushed his shots and chopped the russian down? best perfomance of the night? im confident he will beat joshua? Now will eddie hearn avoid him at all costs ?

Makka has beaten absolutely nobody, so it is far too early to use him as a yardstick as to Kabayel's quality, as for all we know, Makka may just be another big heavyweight who is very good at knocking out bin men, but that's it. Kabayel's only other noticeable win was against Chisora. But we must explore context with that fight. Chisora had a bust-up with his trainer prior to that fight, and had NO trainer in his corner that night. He was noticeably sulking right from the beginning of the fight, and only going through the motions, doing just enough not to get sued. He observably had no ambition to win the fight, yet still Kabayel only just edged a decision. So, on Chisora's worse night, when he was doing the bare minimum, Kabayel only edged a victory. It is not too difficult to imagine a completely different outcome had Chisora actually wanted to be in the ring, and was prepared to go to war. So, to suggest Kabayel is anywhere near Joshua's level when there are huge question marks over both of Kabayel's marquee wins is highly questionable. But laughable to suggest that Kabayel has shown enough to suggest that he would beat Joshua, and that Joshua is running scared. Everybody is entitled to an opinion, but if they wish to be taken seriously, it's better if their opinions have some basis in fact, rather than just feelings.

@rikimackey7984 To be honest, it really is a roll of the dice. I've critiqued Kabayel above, but on paper, he is the more proven fighter. Sanchez looks good, but for the most part, he's been fighting national level fighters at best. He did beat Ajagba, but Ajagba is another fighter who to date, has mostly been fighting national level fighters. So, just like with Kabayel's defeat of Makka, only time will tell how big a scalp that was for Sanchez. At this stage, there's no empirical evidence to suggest that Sanchez is even a world level fighter, never mind one deserves to be ensconced in the top 5 of some of the alphabets. Too many times, people make predictions based on emotion, hyperbole and wishful thinking, and fighters are regularly propelled up the rankings, without actually having any meaningful results. To be clear - I'm not saying that Kabayel or Sanchez aren't possible world beaters. I'm merely pointing out that to date, there just isn't any real factual evidence to support such an assertion. But finally, thanks to the Saudis, the heavyweight division is starting move, with more fights being made between the top 15, so hopefully over the next couple of years the cream will rise to the top, and the hype jobs will fall away.

Makhmudov needs to box more. Guy fights like a caveman and just clubs people to submission. Any guy with good punching power and/or good movement stops the guy.

I doubt Fa could outbox him for 10 rounds. Yes i saw the amateur fight between them. And Fa was able to box and move. I dont see that happening for so many rounds. I think Makhmudov knocks him out too.
