I think it says a lot about an artist and how sincere they are when their style of self-expression seems to align with their physical incarnation. Haha but some people are also unexpected, like some people look a certain way and you wouldn't expect their art style to look the way it does!

The question of how to find your style has always been a little weird to me. You can't *not* have a style, it's literally just the way you draw. I agree that influences from artists you admire/your choice of subject matter are a big factor in it, but one I think I feel gets left out is I'm firmly convinced everyone has a type of natural shape language, like, just a way things come out when they go to draw them. For example, I seem to inescapably draw round and curving shapes, often chunky, no matter how much I look up to people with very thin, angular styles. I dunno, I think it's hard to describe, but it seems to me there's an aspect of people's natural affinities and maybe even core motor skills or something like that.
@gainalque413
@gainalque413 3 жыл бұрын
Yep its just how you prefer your drawing to be.. People keep trying to find their style when they still havent realized there was no such thing , its mostly what people who dont study art thinks of your art..when They see your art, the first impression they saw or the mood they saw in your art they try to describe in something simple... Thats where style comes in i guess ....
@drawspaceX
@drawspaceX 3 жыл бұрын
Yeah but youre also kinda wrong. People who lack skills will often cover up their flawed drawings by saying its a style. So i agree with you on not really trying to "find" your style, but there is definitely a margin there where people just use it as an excuse when they dont know what theyre doing. On "finding" your style though: You can influence your style in a sense by copying but also things even as small as just looking at a certain style alot. Take your style into your own hand, stpp "finding" it and start "steering" it in the direction you want it to go

I agree with you. For example I was in an art class and we were all drawing the same subject and for the most part all our drawings looked the same because we were drawing the same thing, but you could tell who’s was who’s by the way they shaded, the weight/lightness of the lines, etc. it’s very interesting. I myself am naturally drawn to making quick dark energetic marks on the page . It just seems the most natural to me when sketching

Just wanted to comment that whenever you're talking about 'fight or flight' you should always include the third F that no one ever does: Freeze. Maybe it didn't suit the narrative of the video as well, but it's just as valid a reaction to high stress situations and people who do freeze in them tend to have a much higher rate of depression or self-blame revolving the event if they're not aware it's part of the natural behavioral response.

Funny this would show up in my feed now. I was just having a conversation with a friend about how coming back to things you’ve already seen after you’ve gathered more experience and knowledge can leave you far better off. I gave your anatomy videos as example to him. I remember watching them when they first came out and learned a lot. I recently went back and watched them all again and feel like I got way more out of them now, and was better able to utilize the information than I could a few years ago. Could you maybe give your take on this in the future, or maybe just in the comments here?
