This simple test can actually tell us a lot about you, your strength and your balance ☝🏽
No cheating‼️ Make sure you stand ALL THE WAY UP at the top.
The goal for this 30 second chair stand test is to see how many times you can stand up and sit down safely. Ideally without your arms but you can use them if needed 🙌🏼
Keep in mind these numbers are based on the average population- some probably have arthritis of some kind while others do not. This can definitely change the numbers a bit but is still a general goal to strive for ☝🏽
This test can help to test for sarcoma which essentially is decline in muscle as you age. This can be a good ball park estimate of your current strength.
One of the big things we focus on in Adventurers for Life is tests just like this so you can actually MEASURE your strength, balance, stamina, walking speed, etc and also see with numbers how you are improving ✅

I do plenty because of lifelong strong thighs. Good benchmark indicator. Another telltale index is the cardiac stress test - in my case is 87% heart functioning ability. Thankfully - and want to keep it this way !!

60 yo... I'm doing 5 sets of 10 of this stand up deal a day after an injury. Gonna take a nap then do some timing on it. Gotta say aging gracefully is going to require some stepping up on my part.🎉

I'm male 66 and at 12, no problem, no arm assisted push-offs. I sit down and bring my back to a good posture position before starting the next rep. Returning to good posture takes extra time, so how a "rep" is defined makes a difference. If I minimize the "sit down", I can kick out 16. You need to define what a "rep" is and demo it in your video.

Thanks to your previous videos, the encouragement, and talking about how fear can prevent us from progressing, I was able to do 18; I actually stopped because the chair was moving. I would not have done this with the fear of hurting myself I had!! 60 in a couple of months with osteoporosis and all sorts of stuff diagnosed. And everything will be improving and getting better very soon. Thanks Alyssa❤

13 & I am 55. I didn't use my arms. I have a lot of muscle weakness. Arthritis can stop me during rainstorms. Almost 8 years into menopause. Feel like I have been loosing muscle mass for a good 15 years now. Falls I have had over a dozen in last 10 years. I am almost 6 years into a BCF of L1. This was from a ground fall on July 4. Tripped outside startled by a fireworks.

@@arthritisadventure Not to brag, but that was also after I misunderstood the instructions and started all over again after doing about 10 of them! LOL I thought I was supposed to simply see how many I could do and realized it was a timed thing not about the total amount but the amount within a window of time.

Well that's will those exercises help with visceral fat or acsites, to avoid bariatric surgery which has its risks and downsides.

Do you have leg strength videos? My legs are very weak after spinal fusion 1 year ago. I know for a fact I wouldn't be able to do the reps for my age.

I'm a runner, I'm 63 , but I always feel my legs aren't strong and truthfully I know their not? , now I did 15 and didn't keep tack of time and I could of did more but I darn sure felt them and also i.keep having injuries, so yes I need strength and stretch and balance but I just go run close that's mor fun to do, but im paying the price for not be strong? Thank you
