Maria's game has not evolved one bit. She still insists on just hitting the ball as hard as she can. Which just does not work against these young players. Yikes

My thoughts exactly. I never thought her game itself was anything impressive, she's excellent at what she does, hit hard and doesn't go away, but her game is very limited, very one dimensional. I do believe she will retire soon if she's not able to make any headway with her rank, especially if injuries began to be the norm, mainly because she's won everything a person dreams of and she has set herself up to have more than enough income off the court.

At some point people should stop complaining about female players grunting. You might enjoy watching tennis, but make no mistake tennis players are not entertainers, that should please your appetite. They've been training really hard since they were kids and some habits can't change. Just like Rafa has a certain procedure before every serve. The technique, the game thinking, the mental strength... that's what really matters and these are the things that people should pay attention to.
@thangvuong91965 жыл бұрын
Stop the silliness, Sharapova doesn't "grunt" at all when training, which means it's a changeable habit.
@grigorisgegas47235 жыл бұрын
@@thangvuong9196 Training is not the same as competing. Grunting helps players to release the tension and the anxiety. It's not a changeable habit and even if it was, it doesn't mean players should change it just because people can't stand it!

To be fair sharapovas shriek has been very consistent in her whole career, what I do not like is player like halep, svitolina who have only recently started grunting on tour like 3 years ago, or sabalenka who just changes between uhhhhh, ahhhh, ayyyyyyaa, oooooo. To me that's not fair when its changing but as someone who plays tennis grunting does help with breathing, but I do not shriek, mines completely natural and is very quiet and I'm a Male, vesnina is also another horrible grunted. Once you get used to a grunt it's just a rhythm but sabalenka and vesninas changes which I think is more if a hindrance than sharapovas or azarenka.

Maria DOPAPOVA can't hang. She always "injured" when it comes to dangerous players. She makes more excuses than anyone for losing but is never called out. She always claims, "I won't make excuses for losing," but then she'll come back days later and claim an injury. Just because you don't make an excuse that day, doesn't mean you don't make excuses. We're all seeing how the drugs gave her the power to heal and have stamina. It's gone, no more winning.

@Egyptian_Thoth, What you must understand is the sadness in the male commentator's voice upon the realization that Maria Sharapova was not only losing but getting a beatdown left, right and center, and just so happened to be injured at the right time. He only perked up when Maria got some points but was sad for the duration of the short-lived match. However, even with all of this discussed, the saddest part for me is knowing that there are many genuinely good tennis players out on tour who are still playing tennis at different levels who Maria denied from becoming multiple Grand slam champions!
@egyptian_thoth5 жыл бұрын
@@17sunnyhour Yes, so sad and disappointed. Maria cheated so many for so many years. I especially remember how she stole the French Open from Halep. I think this Match is still important for Maria, it was still a very tough and entertaining contest and Maria considering she couldn’t bend her legs was still trying her hardest and even had break opportunities, but once she was on her run or put deep her legs just weren’t bending, and knowing what a fighter Maria is, she was going to play wether or not she was 100% but with Aus Open in 2 weeks you have to think with your head as well. And also it’s her first tournament since US Open over 3 months ago so it’s still especially good she was able to compete with Sabalenka and create as much opportunities as she did, especially to someone 10 years her youth, more power and unable to bend legs with us crucial in power game.

@@victorlupas4875 The injury that she got medical timeout twice for, look I agree a lot of people use medical timeouts and retire for no reason but Maria has always been a fighter, wether you like her or not her discipline and concentration is the best ever in WTA and she would never throw away a match if she wasn't injured. To answer your question it was a left thigh and hamstring injury preventing her from bending her legs, that's the reason for her poor golf of service an inability to play her drop shots and that's why she missed so many low balls and was unable to run and cover the court, she was moving poorly and even her coach told her to stop playing. She did fail the drug test at the Australian open and 2016 right after the drug had gone from legal to illegal. But it's pretty amazing that the William sister and Simone Biles all time greats in their sports have gotten away with using the greatest stimulant of mind and body called adderall for most of their careers. Adderall is a banned drug now. But it wasn't for a long time and they took advantage of this so much so they should have been wearing adderall sponsorships on their tennis and gymnastics outfits.;)

More and more fans are turned off by Sabalenka loud hyena screams. Especially since the fans are the ultimate boss. Because they buy the products from these companies, who then are able to pay these athletes these awesome salaries. And fans are told that they have to be quiet and respectful. But then they allow an athlete to scream at the top of her lungs for a straight hour. That’s not fun nor fair!!

Sharapova: Original! Sabalenka: Annoying cheap copy! Sharapova is not moving that well and her shoulder seems to be tired. The shoulder is her weak part.

You obviously haven't seen Serena how she screams.

@@tresspasse The Williams's introduced the screaming, no thanks to their father for coaching and instructing them to do so just to annoy and distract their competition, and it worked, especially early in their careers.

@@markuse3472 First, the Williams sisters don't scream. They grunt. Secondly, Monica Seles was the first to introduce the grunt who the Williams sisters idiolized. Third, they didn't need to distract anyone because their racket did all the talking. Lastly, shut up you freaking hater who doesn't know anything about tennis.

Osaka is overated and just like Sabalenka needs more experience.
