I understand why Serena was frustrated after the semi-final because against Sabalenka and Halep she played some of the best tennis we've seen from her since returning. I'd love to see a great rivalry develop in the future between Sabalenka, Osaka, Bianca and some of the younger generation.

That's why tennis is so unforgiving. You have to play your best tennis every single round against some of the best players out there. One bad day at the office and you are out. That's why I find people laughing at players loosing a final so stupid. They have no idea what a monumental effort it is to reach a final in a Grand Slam.

Sabalenka definitely played better here than Osaka did against Serena. Serena unfortunately showed up at 10% potential against Osaka. That's okay, because Serena still GAINED lots of points from this AO, improving from a 3rd round loss in 2020 to a SF appearance in 2021. She will re-enter the Top 10 and she needs to focus on the fact that at her elite level she is still IMPROVING! Hence the frauds who say she "needs to retire" have no idea what it looks like to put in work and IMPROVE, even leaps and bounds above other WTA players 10+ years younger than her. @DeepSeas..
@DeepSeas.. 3 жыл бұрын
I don’t think it was against Osaka in particular. I mean, Halep gave her one of the worst beatings of her life in a GS final and she wasn’t bothered at all. The issue is as that the top half of the draw was a joke, making the match against Osaka the last real hurdle to the trophy. Serena turns into a nervous mess when she’s close to breaking records, not because she’s bothered by any particular player.

@@jordanwilliams1740 1) I dont even want to respond to that post pregnancy hypothetical match between the 2 because it is simply idiotic. There is not ifs in sports and you dont know who would win, u are just a fanboy so you are obviously picking serena, but in reality it could go either way. 2)i never said you are hating, i said it is disrespectful to keep finding excuses so to make naomis win lesser. 3) Naomi just didnt let serena play her game because she is also dominant in court, she is not halep 4) Osaka was the favourite before she won the match and she was also the favourite to win AO (which she did) so people actually could see that she was the best player at the moment because literally any prediction from every tennis analyst was favouring osaka. So its not that something extraordinary happened and serena lost, she was supposed to lose against naomi 5) And i am saying again you cant say every time that serena loses that it was on her, It may makes u feel better but that has nothing to do with reality and it will also not win her the 24 major. You need to face reality, serena isnt the best right now (she used to be and she is probably the best player of all time) but there are players like bianca or naomi who simply outclass her at the moment

Where is the outrage and penalty for Sabalenka fit on court? It it bcuz she is a nobody player?, or bcuz she's playing against Serena so she can be disrespectful towards her opponent? Or is it bcuz she's a "KAREN"? Or bcuz a foreigner?

Frost, I agree 100%. The old Eastern block nations has the loudest players. The top 3 are: Sabalika, Aszeranka, and Screamapova. I can take Aszeranka, because though she’s loud, she doesn’t scream. But Sabalika and Sharapova are just too loud. Now that Screama is gone, Sabalika has replaced her. If someone was killing her, nobody would call 911, because they‘ll think she’s just practicing tennis.

Being a Serena fan for most of her amazing carrier, it was difficult to watch her struggle to get that 24 grand slam. In my opinion, Serena beat Serena most of those matches where she almost got it. This match is Serena at what she does best, just pure, raw, gutsy Serena. Her determination and "Im not going down without a figh" attitude is what makes her the greatest.

Wow, after two years and the retirement of the legend Serena Williams, I return to this video. Serena in her last year before retirement defeats the young Sabalenka, who has become a source of fear for all current tennis players. But look at Serena, what a talented queen she is. I believe if Sabalenka had faced Serena from ten years before this video, she might not have been able to win a single set. Have we lost a lot???

Every player should have right to play under her/his country's flag. ATP do not mix sport with politics. Wars are run by politicians not sportsmen/sportswomen. Why during the invasion of Iraq, 20 year bombing of Afghanistan not to mention the genocidal Vietnam war US, Australian UK... athletes were allowed to compete under their national flag ? *** All wars are equal, but some wars are more equal than others.
