Poundland returns back again with a bulging sack of tech, just in time for Christmas! (Although very late for St. Swithin's Day).
From the new Viido range we have wireless mice and keyboards, cables, speakers, mouse mats, wireless chargers, alarm clocks and even tripods.

A "Dongle" in the 1990's was a device that was used for copyright protection of AutoCAD and other high-end software. You plugged your dongle into the Serial or Printer port of the computer, and the software checked if it was physically there when it started up. I think it's more of a UK thing to call the USB Wireless adapter a "dongle", it's not as common here in Australia (but if somebody said "USB Dongle" we'd understand what they meant.

Probably long enough to save up for a real mic. A Samson Meteor costs about 60 pounds, and is an amazing mic at it's price point, or about 3 months of being a new pair of these every week. I doubt these give up that quickly though as my dollar store versions usually held out for about a month before needing replaced, so you're probably looking at a 4 month turn around from these to something good if money is tight.

Cords get knotted because of probability. In terms of knot topology, there is only one state that is "untangled", while every other state has at least one knot in it. As the cords get jostled around in a package, bag, or pocket, the chances of them remaining untangled drop to infinitesimal levels as time and jostling go on. Edit: I'm pretty sure the magnets are part of the speaker drivers, but I'm not 100% sure on that.

Honestly I find the head phones I get from Dollarama over here in Canada (which tends to share similar products with Pound shops in the UK) to be alright, I mean for 4 bucks they sound as good to my ears as the 20-30 dollar sony or panasonic headphones I've gotten in the past.
@SteveBrandon
@SteveBrandon 2 жыл бұрын
I usually just buy headphones for only a few dollars more than Dollarama from FactoryDirect but they no longer seem to be selling the sub-$15 Canadian wired Philips over-the-ear headphones that had a "flat" even sound profile (as opposed to V-shaped sound with too much bass and too low middle), or I buy the basic Sony earbuds that are still only around $10 Canadian at Walmart but perhaps this video will inspire me to try the "nicer" earbuds at Dollarama. Any time I've actually perused the headphones at my local Dollarama, they usually only have those "quiet" earphones marketed as being safe for children to listen to.

As someone who has used a lot of 5-6$ headphones it seems like they have no standards as every pair is a bit different even when it's the same brand name. I have gotten some pairs with good sound quality, some with bad sound, some with good mics, some with broken mics that don't work from the start. It's all a gamble, if you are lucky you get ones with a good mic and good sound.

@@Gatorade69 So far I've been pretty lucky with the stuff I get from dollarama in terms of sound quality (at least in my opinion), though the build quality can be hit or miss. So far I've had to buy at least 3 pairs of head phones this year because the first pair had the left earbud suddenly die, the 2nd pair developed a bad connection in the plug, and the third pair I have right now is a tiny bit flakey but I'm thinking that this time it might actually be the head phone jack on my computer speakers or the speakers own cable that plugs into the computer. Either way, for me they sound pretty good. I just wish they didn't break so often in ways I can't repair them, and it would be nice if they didn't use "ribbon" style cables which tend to curl up in weird ways that distracts me.
