In this episode, we will address a question regarding the type of property suitable for retirement.
The audience wish to retire in Malaysia and he was wondering how can he look for the property that he likes, and which type of property would suit a retirement lifestyle.
Well, my response would be to filter and shortlist the choices via property portals before I am able to advice which apartment is suitable. Also, retirement lifestyle differs in accordance to individual. But I'll recommend to stay in a strata development for the peace of mind.

For me, highrise is more suitable for retirement. The simple reason is that the facilities and security. In retirement age, no need extra rooms to lives in since all your children move out other places and you won't feel so empty. This I'm talking about people who are staying in urban areas while the person who is staying in rural areas has a different perspective.

Both. All my high-rise are land owned/not rented from lessor.

i suggest bi-weekly for the live session. Weekly seems a bit too short, given that your session is 2 hours in order to cater for our questions with your detailed honest answer. weekend is the way to go!

Whether strata or landed, there are pros and cons! Neighbours are another issue! People these days keep very much to themselves! However, I still prefer a single storey landed property where I could just mind my own business, plant some edible vegs in my small garden! I dun need to pay maintence charges and sinking fund which is getting more and more expensive for strata properties! Shoddy workmanship is another problem! Many flats, apartments and condos leak after a few years and it's a real hassle to get especially leakages/plumbings repaired! Been there done that! Phew! Cleanliness of common areas is another big issue!! I am not talking about high end, posh condo units with tip top workmanship where the wealthy bought and pay through their noses for the units with impeccable services to boot! After all, not everyone (especially retirees) could retire in luxe! I am not saying landed props are problem free though! However, in a single storey house, if my roof leaks or the pipes burst I only need to call and pay for necessary repairs and hey presto, it's done! There's no need to trouble immediate neighbours! Also, there are autogate systems where you open and close your gate at a click of a button. There's no need to get in and out of your vehicle to open and close your gate! Thank goodness many homes are gated and guarded too! Peace of mind! Most importantly, I try not to stress myself out during my retirement! I have to try my very best to live happily! Just my 2 sen only!

Condo clean? I seen a condo near ikea, foreign security pee at beam corner & water stagnant everywhere at car park. Path to your unit is dusty. I feel stupid talking to security who seems can't understand anything.

We're only talking of high-rise here, 40 stories or higher. If you need car, you picked the wrong area.

I think in 30 years time, landed properties will be too expensive for me to buy. Unless I'm willing to retire in some ulu areas.

I would imagine myself retiring in a single story cornerlot terrace house with a bit of land for one or two mango trees / banana trees, just enough for gardening and bbq area/ small fish pond but not too much on my elderly body to maintain. Plus single storey means no stairs to fall off from hehe. Terrace houses also provide somewhat security, and have the neighbourly without losing privacy in case i die lor. I somewhat didnt imagine growing old in a condo, i might forget my access card, or unit number and no one recognise me as a resindent... or worse didnt notice i die how? Tehehe

For those with cash, you could consider installing in your multi-storey house, a mechanised chair or lift that will transport you from ground to upper floor and vice versa. Highrise indeed provide security. But sometimes, i didn't fee so if most of the tenants mostl likely to be foreigner... If 1~10% i can still feel safe and sound. And i'm living in condo tho i'm renting currently, and see the pattern where some condo face huge issue where they got bad management who no longer take care of their facilities after few years of condo completion. Is the a way for us to know who will be the condo management for it's completion?
