This is an underrated video on KZfaq. No one has the little mini wrench for their table saw. And honestly even if i had it, i would still do it this way

I just stumbled upon this video and thought to myself I know how to do it but watched the video anyways. 30 some years of doing it the hard and unsafe way. I have had my hand slip before and apparently I have been over tightening my blades as well. Just tried this on my saw and it was easy safe and quick. Thank you for posting this information! I will surely pass this on to my father and kids and anyone who joins me in the shop!

Thanks for this....you make it look so easy; my saw has probably been overtightened by the previous owner. Only two of a dozen woodworking saw books actually advise the saw nut is in fact reverse threaded! Important for this beginner. Thanks again.

You are very welcome. You can see from this video the new insert and the lubes. I will post soon how to tap the set screws into the plywood insert for adjustment and then drop it safely onto the spinning blade to make a zero clearance insert. Then I will show how to clean and grease and oil the moving parts of the saw to keep it top running shape. Thanks again Jay, and keep in touch. Allan

+AskWoodMan that tip helped a lot as i also misplaced my wrench tho how do you do it with a dado stack blade as it has more moving parts?
@AskWoodMan
@AskWoodMan 8 жыл бұрын
+John Leiker No difference with a stacked set. The loosening is just the same with the stick. Tightening a stacked set is also the same where I grab the stack and tighten. I just make sure the alignment of the stacked blades is maintained as I pull for tightness.

Sounds like thread issues. Sawdust clogged or rust. Clean really well with old toothbrush/wire brush and WD40. Is there an arbor lock or a place inside the shaft for a thin wrench to keep arbor from spinning. If not block belt and pulley with an old leather glove to keep from turning. Remove nut(left hand threaded for right tilt saws).This means CW loosens CCW tightens. If still stuck grab arbor with pliers with leather protecting threads from pliers and remove nut clockwise.

Any suggestions on how to change a blade when the motor shaft keeps spinning along with the arbor nut (and arbor bushing/wahser)? There is no spindle lock, and even with the blade help steady, impossible to remove nut! It is an old Black and Decker 8 1/4" "deluxe" table saw...
@AskWoodMan
@AskWoodMan 8 жыл бұрын
Is the arbor nut stripped? You may have to figure a way to bind the arbor shaft. I would hesitate to put vise grips on the shaft except as a last resort. Perhaps first try to bind the belt and pulley with a stick or a rag. You may have to remove the arbor pulley and use the keyway to lock to with a wrench. Feel free to send me pics of your machine to askwoodman@gmail.com Allan
