Oh, Mary.... I'm a recent widow, and realized that I have never lived on my own. I've always been someone's daughter, sister, aunt, wife, mom, or nana. I can't believe the timing of this video; it's perfect. And everything you said is resonating with me, so thank you for these few minutes.

thank you for this, mary. i recently graduated high school and turned 18, and i feel directionless. i lost my teenage years to mental illness and now that i'm getting better, i'm trying to figure out who i am as a person and honestly i don't know who i am, what i like, what i want, etc. it's comforting to know that i'm not alone.

I cannot stress enough how wholesome your videos are: Your sanity, your humanity, your humour and your general outlook on life are so impressive. I don't know, it seems to work even better than therapy. You've become some kind of sane best friend of mine, to be honest. At least in my imagination, haha.

I have a 10 month old and this is so spot on. It's so easy to get lost in feedings and diapers and doctors appointments and sneaking a few minutes to clean, shower, eat, have some grown-up time. I find myself getting angry at my husband for no reason, other than he's a deeper sleeper than me and his snoring makes me jealous. I really appreciate the video (and all of your videos, really). They're a a highlight of my evenings.

For the person reading this: You're going to get where you're supposed to go. I know it seems so far away or you may be uncertain where that place exactly is, but you're going to get there and each experience is another step in the right direction. Just try to stay kind and connect with those around you, big or small ✨

I actually began taking singing lessons in April of this year. I did some singing in high school but I never got to take one on one singing lessons and it’s something I have always wanted to do. Im 27 and have no functional use for singing. I don’t want to pursue it as a career, so it felt really odd when I first started taking lessons but it’s one of the best things I’ve ever done. Every week I get a whole hour to just sing and have fun. I realised that as a kid we are encouraged to do all kinds of hobbies and activities, but not as adults. It’s important to have hobbies at every age, it’s not just for school aged kids.

I remember back in the 70s and 80s when I was growing up I can remember both of my parents doing things such as crafts, clubs etc. Currently I notice some of my friends dont do this. They seem to be totally wrapped up in nothing more than their job and kids. I think down the road they are going to have some serious adjustment issues. I think with this staying and working at home as made it worse.

This was genuinely a very nice video to get in my subscription box right now. I have contemplated for a long time what might be helpful in finding direction. I'm currently studying but I've lost all motivation for it and covid certainly hasn't helped my already poor mental health. I started doing therapy with the aim to be able to leave the house with less anxiety to hopefully be able to go and take that welding class or basically any other class BUT welding 😂. (To be fair I do recall enjoying the little bit I got to do in lower grades at school, fixing up little lamps). I wish everyone who also needed this video success in finding new hobbies and self-reflecting through journaling and meditation. Baby steps to start to build up motivation.

This couldn't have came at a better time for me. I am truly struggling this past few weeks with almost everything you were talking about. I'm a mum to four young children one of which has a rare medical condition. I feel like i am constantly pulled in all directions it can be so difficult i do next to nothing for myself i don't even know what I'm good at or what i enjoy anymore. Being a mum is so strange with how much you lose your identity. I will definately take this advice on board thank you so much for sharing your wisdom Mary 💖

I love this video. When I graduated high school in 2020 during the pandemic I truly lost who I was over the last year, and am now remembering who I am and what I truly want. I am going to nursing school, got stronger in my faith in church, and am making true friends. I love how you mention about evolving everyday for the rest of our life because things change everyday. I sometimes go through spurts of almost like a depression/loneliness especially during the winter ❄️. I had surgery a couple months ago and went through one of these spurts right after, but I have become more motivated now more than ever to become who I want to be and not care about others thoughts and opinions of me. I am so excited for the future now, but also want to live in the moment.

I think I'll have to save this for later, I need to go to sleep for work soon. Trying to be responsible, lol. But. I'm trying to be brave and less afraid. It's extra scary when you grow up being told you can't and nothing is good enough. It's HARD to keep reassuring yourself and to take risks. I grew up stagnant. It's a hard circle to escape, but I'm trying. I'm starting a new job soon that's a better opportunity, and yeah. I like talks like this. It really helps to hear it from someone besides just me telling myself

Loved this! I also love being by myself, with my thoughts, and also am one who talks (out loud) to myself to help figure thing out, primarily arguments. My mind flies really fast and I talk fast as it is, but my mouth cannot keep up with my mind. So arguments get really disjointed. I find if I give my side of the discussion out loud, I focus better because I have to slow it down. Works great!
