Sold my Macbook Pro with touchbar for this Laptop and I have to say I do not miss the Macbook. This is so much better in terms of the real multiplicity of full functionality of programs you can use for business and entertainment at the same time and I do mean "Fully Functional." First, I give Asus credit for its creativity and thinking outside of the box while everyone else is either improving displays or IP speed. Second, no machine will ever be perfect. The battery in this machine could have been better but with two screens you will drain power. That being said, what you didn't mention is that this machine charges rather quickly. The plug however is a brick. For the the writer, creator and lite gamer this machine fits the bill. Apple, We Have A Problem. In Search pf Excellence is exactly what Asus is after and I have to say I'm going along for ride with this one.

That's good to hear! I haven't used the recent macbooks myself but yeah I can definitely see a full extra screen being much more useful. Yeah I admit I do not record recharge time, so could not say how fast that was.

@@longle5877 I had the Asus for nearly 2 weeks...but returned it and now got the 16" Macbook. I felt like the Asus was to much of features and also I'm used to Apple instead of Windows. I like that it is cleaner in design and I was able to make the switch seamlessly. The downside of the MacBook is you have to get a Dongle.

By far the best thorough review for a laptop. Can’t wait to watch your other reviews. I know you covered the ram a bit but it would have been a great addition to include upgrade ability of this laptop. I.e. ssd, ram. As in most cases it is cheaper to upgrade rather than buy directly. Great job!

So far i've found the pen is great, and near on a necesity to make the most of the 2nd screen. I use it to touch anything small as you mentioned. There's also an option to disable touch while using the pen in widdows pen settings, so you can wrest your palm on the screen and take notes woot, just need to keep the pen close enough to the screen so it keeps touch disabled. I did a test running Fortnite at Epic settings 60fps plus playing music on google play in chrome/ Evernote running/ 3 other chrome tabs in a second window. It used 20% of the CPU on average, and barely even got warm... 80%GPU useage. In my test all 8 cores were near on equally loaded though.

7 mins in and you're the first reviewer to show you can easily lock the keyboard, others complained about touching the keyboard when using the pen.... Didn't see anyone show that you can turn the 2nd screen off either, which many hoped would save battery life.

I hope in next year's model they include the ability to manually elevate the top half of the second screen by 2 cm or so. Because that would work great for air intake and would definitely help with the viewing angles.

I recently just purchased as in zenbook Duo Pro I'm a photographer and what I appreciate is being able to work on photos on both the glossy screen and a matted screen in one machine on the road I always worry about colour space this helps me make sure that the photos look good on both screen types I do kind of wish that the matted screen was on top but I understand why it's on the bottom

Yeah I think could be better if both were the same, but bottom one is still pretty good quality, like I say in the video I don't think it needs to be the same as I guess it's meant to be more for additional content/tools etc rather than primary use.

Being that the color reproduction is different between the two displays, do you find yourself making adjustments so the photo looks better on the second screen relative to the OLED, or is it used more as a worst case visual reference to what the image may look like to viewers using less capable displays? I find that since more people are using their phones to view content on average vs a computer, it makes sense to edit on higher quality 10bit displays, since most flagship phones are able to reproduce the color and even the limited sRGB spectrum is being replaced by the wider DCI-P3.

@@chrisw8339 As far as I know, Gigabyte has limited the screen brightness in order to maintain great color accuracy over a larger range of brightness and Average Picture Levels (APL). See Linus's review of the OLED Razer Blade to know more

You can definitely connect a third screen externally but I have not tried it. it might be an issue when you need to drag stuff over it in terms of lining things up in windows but you can probably arrange it so that it works ok

Great review! Is it really usefull for using with lightroom (are you able to put the settings sliders on the bottom screen to have more space for the photo on the Oled screen? Is Oled ok for photo editing? ( not to saturated/bright?) Thanks!!

Multiscreen is the way to go. I can see it when there is a benefit of seeing several levels of options on the second screen and thus eliminate path hunting

No idea, it doesn't warm up so it's probably fine and has some heat protective layer between it.

need to run +4 monitors using usb to hdmi via a hub for business. personal uses are not too demanding. when travelling the secondary screen would be useful for excel as i have to make constant excel references while working i'm thinking about the long term life of it and how it would perform as years pass by. been almost a year since this video so i was wondering how it is doing now if it was used as a primary machine please let me know your views on it

MFG!! 3000 usd :-( excelent review as allways It could be really nice to play DCS combat simulator, where you can set the MFD screen in other monitors. The problem is that you will need to edit some config files to fit it to the custom resolution of the screen below

It would be perfect for those types of games...but the games developers would have to release a patch to take advantage of the second screen. If the goes mainstream, it could allow for more immersive game interaction..RTS, RPG, SIMULATION and 4X games are gonna take good advantage of this.

One thing I think is important to add is that the OLED panels are all 1ms response. Which actually makes them much more pleasant for gaming than almost all 60hz IPS panels found on laptops which usually average 20ms+

I guess I typically don't specify metrics if I can't measure them, I don't have tools for testing response time at the moment unfortunately, but interestingly I don't think ASUS specified this anywhere.

4:08 but as a result better brightness, better contrast, and more natural-looking, bright, vivid colors. Matte covering would kill the main point of OLED screens - the colors.

The battery life is a concern for creators who likes to work on the go. Also it must have came with SD card slot. Also take a look at the xps 15. It has better battery life and is cheaper. Oh and it is lighter and more upgradable.

Well the Mag 15 isn't even out yet so you should wait a bit for reviews. The Aero will have a much nicer screen if you want OLED. Better speakers and arguably better build. Though if significantly cheaper where you are and you don't mind those things performance and battery should be close. Should. No one knows yet

Do you recommend this laptop for writing articles while doing web search, Excel and other office programs? Honestly, I'm looking for a gaming laptop and work. Having to screens could be useful since sometime I need to have more than one program, ou other articles open to support the text writing. Thanks Eduardo

I guess you can install it yourself if you want, just seemed weird to have a light bar listed for it but not have it functional 🤷‍♂️

I'd expect so, however I only tested the other way around, with the OLED on and secondary off as I thought that'd be more practical.

I am into film editing color grading. I am confused what should I buy macbook pro or this one. I feel macbook is very handy and is on the go laptop whereas this laptop is more of a desk laptop. You can't edit properly in this laptop when you are on a plane. This laptop can hang a lot in future whereas Mac book doesn't hang.

I haven't used it, but best guess I doubt there would be much different in most games due to the power restrictions here. When I've tested in the past I haven't found the i9 to make too much difference.

i recently bought this notebook for work and i already have some issues with it! The secondary screen behaves as a touchpad for the mainscreen . i cannot select anything on the secondary screen without the help of a mouse or the touchpad/numberpad. I made a factory reset 2 days ago and it behaves exactly the same! i made some research regarding this issue but i didn't find anything and anyone talking about something like that. Now i think i have to send it back in service even if i only had it for 15 days. Maybe i made by mistake a hidden command, without knowing it, but i really don't find how to fix it!

Have you tried setting it in windows to Mirror mode when using it for say drawing a picture as it is supposed duplicate exactly what your doing to the main screen, Please let me know if and how you achieved it ?

@@JarrodsTech Hi, perhaps you might know this > If you have the main screen page up on say google and the second screen on a different page would some one hacking in only see the main page screen? In other words if one was checking their bank account on line on the second screen only would the hacker be unable to see the page you had logged into ?
