I lost contact with all of my grandparents in my youth due to one intrafamilial conflict or another, now a man and I haven't had contact with any of them for over a decade. Listening to your memories reminds me of my grandad, and seems to fill in the years of stories I've missed out on. Thankyou

Your cozy cabin videos make winter a little more bearable. I'm adding this to the list of Dale Calder recipes I will be making. Every time I see you sample one of your home-baked treats with a cup of tea, I feel compelled to duplicate the experience in my home (alas, no cabin for me). I wish you were my neighbor!

I had to put my rescue dog down a few days ago. I had taken her in from my son when they moved years ago. I was just going to keep her a few months, but it turned into years, because I was too attached. She stayed with me and protected me, and was the best dog. She was happy to be where I was and whatever I was doing, much like your Angel. She had a tumor, cutting off her air. Didn’t really know anything was wrong until the day before we went to vet. My heart has broken because I didn’t know anything was wrong. I thought she had slowed down because she was getting older. She just seemed happy and contented. A blessing I am sure. Her name was “Little Bit” because she was a little bit of many breeds. You love on Angel for me, and I miss my dog! Apple cake looks wonderful!!! Thank you for doing these films, they seem to soothe me.

Aah, early winter at the cabin. So glad you took us along. Thank you for the stories of time gone by. As a little girl I loved to sit and listen to my grandmother and aunt reminiscence. I miss those days so your stories were a little gift. Thank you. I'm looking forward to trying your Arnie cake. But seeing that we have just had Thanksgiving I have an overload of cake and pies. I did the same thing with my first propane tank, embarrassingly refilling it way too soon. I got a second canister and now I just run out, switch over and refill. Hi Dale. I forgot to say in my last comment on this video(I'm rewatching). It's really nice when you tell the stories about your family from a long time ago. My grandmother used to tell me lots of stories about when she was younger and her mother and father. Too bad things are not simple like that anymore. Also, the hand written recipes from your mom are so nice to have. My mom passed away 2 yrs. ago, and now I have her recipes. They mean a lot. Thanks for sharing!

Hi Dale...hoping you are well. I was so pleased when your posting of your recent cabin video came through. Out of all the videos that you make they are my favourite as they are for so many others. It doesn't seem that long since you were out pottering in the heat of the sun in your garden and now you are covered in snow lol, the side view of the cabin looked beautiful!. Dale, I enjoyed the story of the Arnie Cake and the photo. Such a delightful history lessons. The little children in the photo, are still the same at this age - how wonderful to see your parents and Hazel Calder. I will be making the Arnie Cake this week-end. I think it has been a wonderful life on the island. The snow is beautiful and the berry bush should be on a Christmas Card. What a beautiful life you have and I love Angel. Thanks for sharing the photo and story of your parents. My dad was educated in his elementary years in such a school. My grandmother, his mother, was a teacher, and I like to think I inherited her gift of teaching and love of learning. You are a great teacher, too, as evidenced by your instructional, informative videos. I like to time travel in my imagination when I see old photos like this. I was wondering what that little girl and boy would think if they could know they would one day have a son, who would be sharing that photo in a cozy cabin on a winter day. They would be amazed at the technology that would make it possible for folks all over the world to know about them.❤️

Good to see you back in the cabin. Looks cozy I would love to have a cabin to get away from the crazy times. Your stories remind me of some that my Grandpa used to tell. He was born in 1896 and lived to be 102. He was sharp until he passed away. The Arnie cake looks delicious. The natives here in south Georgia would be frozen if they were there. Us transplants wouldn't be concerned if it was that cold.

I found your channel just today. Today is my 60th birthday. It was a lovely gift to find you. That's a very neat peeler you have there. I can almost peel as fast as your fancy peeler. Sure enjoyed the video. I'm going to add a cup of chopped walnuts to the cake and put a tad bit of sprinkled powdered sugar on it after it cools. It's going to smell delicious while it bakes. I love your cabin videos..I have got to try that "Arnie" cake...looks so good! Watching you from Arkansas and many other Northern you tubers i watch are talking about so much early snow this year...gives me hope that we will get some good snow down here this year too...our last good snow was in 2014 along with a record ice storm. Here at my rural lake cabin i was snowed/iced in for several days with no power and I loved it. I put my fireplace to work and luckily i had a camp stove and of course my oil lamps so I enjoyed my winter wonderland that year. looking forward to more of your cabin videos...
