EPISODE 1: "Dusk Check-In & Moonlight Marvel Mania"
It's Friday Night Baby. September 19th. My obsessive & constant vigil begins from a 9th floor balcony - Renaissance Hotel. The sights & sounds were overwhelming to my virgin eyes and 35.9 year old brain. An orgasmic feast for the senses, it was. And it was mine for the next 2 days. The closure of Rwy 8L made things even more marvel worthy. Bearing witness at it's finest & most extreme. Glory. Oh, Glory, Amen. So join me as we kick off the celebration of my survival for 36 years. Prepare oneself for an Ol Matty Miniseries. It only gets better from here.

Great Job Once again. I grew up running up and down the isles of Dc-9's 727's 757's 747's and many more im sure ive forgot. It was a great childhood.I remember sitting in the pilots seat at night falling sleep. Nurse maid.

Well that was pretty cool. The Renny does quite a good job circumventing the red menace. It's a shame runway maintenance was being conducted. This reminds me of times when I stay at the LAX Radisson. Late nights and early mornings. I just hope there is an episode 2 with the early arriving heavy jets. That would really float my boat. The cargo ops are pretty sweet.

The runway maintain'n REALLY spices things up exciting the pattern is reversed. The 767 parade gets really jumbled up. Don't you worry bout episode 2 good buddy. This is the most lackluster of the 3 episodes. First I get your attention w/the boring stuff & then BAM! I hit ya w/hot shit.

So no s---, there I was. Taking my family to IAH so they could catch their flight. When suddenly (dun dun duuuuuuuunnnn) I see the inaugural 789 take off! Lemme just say, Delta needs those birds. They are freakin gorgeous!

I agree wholeheartedly! I'm sure at some point in the next 10-15 years they'll acquire some. But for now I'm looking forward to Virgin Atlantic's inaugural flight into ATL on 10/23 - using the 787. I've never bore witness to the 787 w/my magic eyes.

Very nice! Hotel spotting is awesome! I did some at the Sheraton Gateway hotel right beside runway 28. Did you hear about the Delta 747 that was going from ATL to Tokyo and had to turn around because the engine blew up? I believe it was on Monday.

RUssianPilot737 COOL! I was actually looking at the Sheraton because the Renny was originally booked solid on Friday night. Luckily a cancellation opened up a vacancy so I never explored the Sheraton option any further. How was it? The rooms on the upper floors, north side of the building looked to be the best. I did hear about the Delta 295 incident. Wish I could've been there to see it!

Matt Cochran Well actually, NO planes came in on Runway 28, they were all on 10. So I had to kinda lean to see the airplanes pull off onto the taxi way. I was there for about 16 hours and not one plane landed on 28! Ridiculous!

Hell yeah dude. I would give anything to skip an entire week of work & not move from that balcony. You'll have a blast. Is the hangar show the event where I can stock up on 200 scale model airliners?
