Ron Whiles was a kind and generous man known for giving people second, third, and sometimes fourth chances in life. So, when he was shot to death inside his own home, and that same home was lit on fire, everyone wondered who could possibly want him killed. Police had a handful of good leads thanks to some neighbors, which ultimately led them to Andrew Alcorns, the man responsible for Ron's murder.

It irritates me that a person surviving lessens the punishment or the severity of the crime. Stabbing someone 29 times is such an obvious intention to kill someone that the punishment should be the same as murder.

The Chris Johnson interrogation genuinely caught me in the throat. From Ron’s background and life, it seemed like he was a parental figure for many of these men who probably didn’t have a stable upbringing or current life. Many of these guys had fights with Ron, and Ron would let them go essentially to the effect of- if this is how you wanna be, you gotta do it without my help. But Ron also seems like the guy who would take them back when they decided to get back on the right path. That audio clip was heartbreaking because Ron was probably the only person left in Chris’s life that was a steadying and decent force for good. You can hear in his voice how lost he feels.

Victim on phone: “Fire! Fire!” :Smoke alarm blares in background: Dispatcher: “Sir, What’s that noise going off?” Listen, I understand that the dispatcher was getting a lot of info at once. But I feel like that was something she could’ve pieced together without making that man repeat the words fire with what could’ve been his last few breaths. I have a good friend who’s a dispatcher and I know it can get tense and confusing real quick. But I feel like so many dispatchers on these videos are so unprepared for true emergencies like this. As someone with an illness that causes occasional word salad, it terrifies me to think about being forced to call an un-empathetic dispatcher. I’m pretty calm in emergencies but if the person who’s supposed to help me ain’t understanding what I’m saying I’m just gonna scream until the cops get there. 😅

I don't believe for a single moment that he intended on hurting his girlfriend. He pulled all that shit to get her out of racking up more charges.

No such thing as being friends with your landlord when one person in the dynamic holds the ability to make the other homeless, ALL landlords are bad, even if in other circumstances they’re a fine person. I don’t understand the obsession with making all murder victims perfect angels

I knew a man like Ron, he helped troubled kids and he passed very suddenly (not anywhere close to as horrific as Ron’s passing tho). It really hurt everyone around me, but especially the young men who looked up to him as a mentor and someone who helped them out. Chris’s reaction is so genuine and it broke my heart. You can tell how much it meant to him to have Ron in his life. For troubled people, even one example of a good person can change everything for them, if even just to give them a sliver of hope. Chris clearly has problems, but that’s the reaction of someone in pain, and how he kept saying “he was a good dude” over and over is devastating because he probably didn’t know many of them. Made me so sad. RIP Ron
