This is my new 2023 Honda rancher 420 4x4, and in this video we’re going to install a 4000 lb ATV winch from Tundra Tested / Canadian Tire using a winch mount from KFI for Honda Rancher 420 & Honda Foreman 500 . This is the second video of upgrades and modifications to transform my new 2023 Honda rancher build.

Nice job. Just make sure the cable feeds in over the top. My dealer that installed my Honda/Warn winch installed it upside down. The cable was reeling in from the bottom and started to fray the cable before I realized they installed it wrong. They since flipped it around to fix the issue.

Yeah it’s weird how it mounts & I agree it has to be flipped upside down and inside out 😜 I had considered the synthetic rope for weight reduction but maybe later down the road if need be.

Im assuming if you change the direction of pull on the winch you will need to reverse the polarity of the handle bar switch.

@@togo3624 no reversing the polarity of the switch as we did not change the rotation of the spool, rather the fact that the entire winch assembly was installed upside down. The winch was removed and flipped over and installed the correct way, so that the rope winds on top of the spool, rather than on the bottom (the incorrect way). We did not switch the drum rotation direction on the winch itself, hence the “in” position on the switch will always reel the cable in no matter what orientation the winch is mounted in. Hope that makes sense.

Hey John. Good job on the winch. Be careful with that machine. The winch will come in handy to pull your buddies out of the bush. LOL. Thanks for sharing.👍👍🍁
