This cylinders are steel pipes cutted and machined on a lathe ...

@@chichovenci can you tell me the part number for the bushing and the balljoint id like to see if becomes cheaper tk buy them or to buy the whole set of uppee control arms

This is jack screw... it came as equipment with one old tractor...

What did you use to remove it ? With regular bushing removal?

When you tighten the nuts which hold the upper arms in, they must be done when the weight of the car is on the wheel. Otherwise you will tear the new bushes.

If you watch the whole video you noticed that i tighten the bolts holding upper arms after the car was leveled on the wheels.

@@chichovenci I didnt get that. Are Andrew talking about the one, long bolt that hold the two "outer" upper arms or the one closest to the motor?

@@andreasdahl717 he's talking about two bolts tightening each of arms inner side ( near to engine bay )

@@chichovenci so if I dont take out the whole spring system, I just need to lift the arms up when I tighten the bolts. I also have airbags and would like to not take it all out whenI do this. My car is A6 Allroad 01 :D

@@andreasdahl717 idea is to haven't tensions in bushings when car is in typical height mode. That's why you tightening bolts after car levels.

I tried this and the bush completely crushed. Thin aluminium side wall didnt stand a chance I tried 2 bushes before I went out an got the arms. They were about £80 for 4 arms total, both sides. Maybe I the used wrong size socket both times. Febi Bush sold by amazon direct from amazon. Fare play for all hand tools and getting the top pinch bolt so easily. That was the hardest part by far!

Yes one of the top bolts was a bit tricky, it is even harder when You try to film all process. But i'm happy that video is useful.

IS there a noticeable difference in the way the car handles after doing this? My suspension seems not bad, but it can tramline on certain roads when the camber is steep. Wondering if this is what I need to replace.

@@esoteric_chaos I would take a pry bar to you front axle, lower rear arm, inner Bush. They are about £20 each and can be pressed. That was the bad ones for me. These top arms I got from GSF car parts for about £25 each but didn't notice much difference in the drive and the new ones have quite a bit of movement.

Why did you leave the air out, Is it necessary for movement of the shock? Also, is suspension calibration with VCDS necessary?

If you don't release the air pressure you can't compress the shock, and you can't took arms bolts out. I haven't used vcds after the repair, everything was fine.

@@chichovenci Thanks for the reply. You didn't show the ball-joints - how did did you separate them - splitter?

@@jonniewoz1447 upper ball-joints was the easiest part. It's difficult to replace bolt tightening upper ball-joints ... when you replace the bolt, they come off easily without separator, upper ball-joints aren't conical.
