Audi TT Mk1 - breakdown vlog Episode 1 - Fuel Pump Dramas

I thought I would share with you a real time breakdown experience in the Audi TT and how I dealt with and diagnosed a problem with a Mk1 Audi TT.
As we know the cars are mainly 20+ years old now so you are going to need to practice fault finding in an Audi TT Mk1.
My Audi TT refused to start and was experiencing car stalling.
So here is how i worked out that the Audi TT Mk1 Fuel pump is not priming and how I undertook a fuel pump replacement on an Audi TT mk1.

Glad you got it sorted Andy. Such a great bunch of lads in the TT community. I’m just about to start work on OTTO, our 150 Roadster. I don’t want to rush it but I’m so looking forward to meeting you guys. Thanks to you for all your videos too mate. I managed to get the soft top out to fix the drain tubes. I ballsed up the refit but I’m not too concerned at the moment as it’s garaged and I can close it manually. Keep up the good work.

Good vid Andy, glad its not just me that has breakdowns!! I think i managed to buy the last new fuel pump unit last week😉...although you can just replace the pump (new) in them....which might be something you want to do soon...its just a bit more fiddly. Brilliant that you you could call upon so much assisstance from the guys to get you out of trouble.

Andy did you not see my video , I showed if you tap the top of the fuel pump with a hammer you can get the pump to prime and start. 😅 I show in my video all the wires and pipes required to change the fuel pump.

@@andycharger it’s no different that giving a bad starter motor a tap. All your really doing is shaking the amateur on the motor and making the bearing move to reduce friction . What fuel pressure is the vr6 running at ?

Any comment on the fuel filter as a possible reason for fuel starvation ?

Could well be if you have a faulty sender or the pump itself is starting to fail. It turned out to not be my problem but something to check. I would also change the fuel filter on the car in case that is blocked or full of fuel sludge from the ethanol. 👍

Ha ha. One was already done last week and ready to roll. The short was an impulse thing and the vlog was a real time recording of events. Normally a "once a week" type of guy!
