@@paddybates2738 No cricket has been batsmen game when T20 cricket gained it's attention in past 10 years. You can see clearly in early 2000 to 2013 and now there is so much changed in favor of batsmen. The wickets also flat and no assistance for bowlers in 95℅ of games today. But still there is balance between bat and ball which is giving by the world class bowlers.

I'd like to see you try and survive in that kind of pitch where there's little difference between pitch and outfield against such a quality attack.

well i have a counter opinion as in this case the batsmen already took 4 runs and in most cases something like this wouldnt save more than 1 run and secondly for saving that 1 run a player might get injured and might not be lucky enough to get to that ball or get extremely fatigued by consequwnt chases hence its not worth giving it most of the times

@@priyanshu561 ofcourse right but what if the ball is really far away from you and 75-80% times it will go to the boundary and in 10% times batsmen will run 4 but just for some marginal chances to save 1 run its not a go where as where you know that this ball can be stopped by diving and can almost certainly save runs you should but not in such cases just a bad tradeoff to an injury

SA batting lineup is disastrous now. before they had so many all time great batters- kallis, gibbs, de villiers, smith, amla, boucher, pollock, klusener duminy, prince come to mind. All great batters or all rounders. now they dont have a single one.

@@betterthannice6131 They weren't the best balls. Just horrible shots. The one that got Warner was good. A lot of players would be the exact same and have nicked that. But the one to Usman and Smith were just horrid shots played at a ball that should not have been played. The one to Usman was short and Usman tried a shot over the top but he stepped away. That's not how you play that sort of ball. And the one to Smith was way wide. Smith just had a horrible crack at it. That's the batsmen's fault really.

If match finished in less than 2 days in Asia u guys cried like babies...

Frankly, I think the SA pace attack is deadlier. If the pitch was less bowler-friendly and the batsmen could actually last on the pitch and play a few shots then I doubt SA would lose. With an average batting side and dominating bowling attack, it would be hard to beat them. Aus has an excellent batting side; at the end of the day, that's where the difference was...

@@ayushkale5088Perhaps yepp. Not much between them. If SA made an extra 70-80 runs they may have won...but on that wicket its like saying they needed an extra 250 runs. They wouldnt want to be chasing 120 in 4th innings thats for sure. I thought it was great to watch so many quality seamers on a bowlers wicket. It was refreshing to watch a different type of contest and it will be a tight series and the next test will attract even more viewers/crowds.

On flatter pitches later in the series, that difference was exposed with SA collapsing on solid batting pitches after Australia made 500+. It’s why SA were able to take a win off England’s Bazball team last yr at Lords, due to how strong their bowling attack is.

We've had short Tests in the past, we sometimes have short Tests nowadays too. Also batsmen only get picked for Tests when they prove that they have the game for it, there is no compulsion to pick cross-format players with the hectic schedules we have nowadays. Disturbing that everyone seems to think that no one can bat anymore because of T20

Yep keep on repeating things without having any knowledge about what has occurred in the Australian media. Already a number of people in the Australian media have come out criticising the pitch including Ponting, Hayden and Langer. This has happened once for a Test match in Australia in god knows how long? In India, there are rank turners produced almost every match when I watch those series. If Australian curators produce wickets like this constantly then that is a fair argument to make but don't assume that people aren't talking about it here in Australia, as we are. Also, if anything, this pitch probably favoured the South Africans as they don't have the best batting line-up.

I also enjoyed watching the game, but it was a bit too skewed in favour of the bowlers imo. I like bowler-friendly wickets though - most are batsman-friendly - but a Test should not be over in 2 days.

When matches end in 2 days in Asia(India) people and ex cricketers say its bad for Test match as the pitch is too much turning from day1, Here the Matich didn't even go for 2 days. Same for turning tracks batsmen don't apply themselves :)
